"Beat the Heat" Show

Scott was talking about Frosty Towels that stays cool but are disposable.
I found one that isn't disposable on Amazon and gets great reviews.
Looks like it is available in 3 sizes and 9 different colors and as of this post, they are on sale --

Frogg Togg Chilly Pad

Frogg Togg Chilly Pad is an innovative way to keep cool during a workout, hard ride, tough climb or any other strenuous activity. When wet, the towel becomes considerably cooler than the outside air, thereby providing cooling relief to the user. When it stops cooling, simply re-wet the towel and wring it out. Machine washable.

Hyper-evaporative material
Retains water while remaining dry to the touch
Keeps you cool up to 4 hours

I am another teacher who vacations in WDW in August. As contradictory as it sounds, my body doesn't tolerate heat well, and I tend to overheat. But by making use of all the helpful tips I've picked up over the years on the Disboards and learning all the places to get out of the heat and into a/c, I can honestly say that I love going in August. I've been at other times of year when the weather is more comfortable for walking the parks, but I miss being able to spend a few hours in the pool in the afternoon. Last year the heat was a little more intense than usual because it didn't rain at all while we were there. Those quick storms don't exactly cool the air, but I think they do help.
I picked up a couple of new tricks from the Beat the Heat episode that I will try this year - the Frosty Towel and the plastic cup lid for catching drips from Mickey Bars - what a great idea! I always end up with chocolate on my front because they melt faster than I can eat them! Keep those good ideas coming!

I leave for WDW in about a month and bought one of these for the trip. We happen to be in the middle of a heat wave right now and decided to give it a try -- it works really well! A damp hotel towel work suffice in a pinch, but this stays wet longer, doesn't drip, and comes in nifty designer colors.

We've been down in the summer three times. I only remember once it really bothered us. It was our last day and by 11am I just couldn't take it anymore so we headed to the airport and got an earlier flight home. That's a story for another time! :scared1:

We have never been to disney in the summer and don't ever plan on it.
mostly fall time.

YOU KNOW YOU ARE IN FLORIDA IN JULY WHEN. . . .

The birds have to use potholders to pull worms out of the ground.

The trees are whistling for the dogs...

The best parking place is determined by shade instead of distance.

Hot water now comes out of both taps.

You can make sun tea instantly.

You learn that a seat belt buckle makes a pretty good branding iron.

The temperature drops below 95 and you feel a little chilly.

You discover that in July it only takes 2 fingers to steer your car.

You discover that you can get sunburned through your car window.

You actually burn your hand opening the car door.

You break into a sweat the instant you step outside at 7:30 a.m.

Your biggest bicycle wreck fear is, 'What if I get knocked out and end up lying on the pavement and cook to death?'

You realize that asphalt has a liquid state.

The potatoes cook underground, so all you have to do is pull one out and add butter, salt and pepper.

Farmers are feeding their chickens crushed ice to keep them from laying boiled eggs.

The cows are giving evaporated milk.

Ah, what a place to call home.

;)

and you learn to hibernate from June to October instead of from November to April like you did when you lived up North.
