Is it just me, or does this feel like a missed opportunity? I get Disney wanting to remake their most iconic properties, but I feel like they may be overlooking an opportunity with some of the ones that may not get the same level of attention. The story of the Black Cauldron is one I find to be pretty cool and it does have a cult following. They'd have an opportunity to present it to a new generation who never knew about it in the first place, and reintroduce it for fans or the original. Just my thoughts....

Disney does have the rights to "The Chronicles of Prydain" which is the book series The Black Cauldron was based on. They had intended to make a live action series of films, but so far it hasn't materialized. I haven't heard about it in a while, but it may still be kicking around. I think it would be cool if it ever gets greenlit.

I think any way they do it could be interesting if it gets greenlit. Whether it's a standalone video like the original cartoon, a series of films expanding on the story in the style of POTC, or even a limited run tv series. There is so much to work with there and a remake would not only bring a new audience to a new version, but get people interested in the original cartoon, which I feel was highly underrated.

Yeah, it was announced a few years ago, but there hasn't been much action since. The business on those YA fantasy movies has sputtered a bit recently, so they may be reevaluating. I think it could end up as a series of movies on Disney+ and I think that would suit it.

I also really like the original, though the changes made to the ending do hurt it somewhat.

Aww, he just wants the munchins and the crunchins.
Thank you for this response. I had a family funeral and needed a good laugh. I’m not going to be able to post for a while due to time restrictions, so I really appreciated that. Thanks again!
