Boathouse, Brunch and Boondoggles - Oh My! Complete and it only took me 11 months!

Terrific, fun reviews and pictures! Thanks for sharing with us - I am looking forward to reading more! :)

Those bowls all look delicious!

I was a little hesitant when I read the menu but seriously it was delicious and might have taken out D-Luxe Burger (that I visited later) as my favorite quick service spot. It’s fresh and made to order and really good quality. I hope you get to visit it too and like it as well.

Sweetly indeed!!!!!! You definitely have two keepers there!
Ha! Those two are a mess but I rather adore them!

Ok, I have nothing on this. Who is that character?

Oh! That is a Porg from Star Wars: the Last Jedi. They are a little divisive as some see them as Merchandise Bait and I see them as creative problem solving. The island that was used to film had a big population of Puffins and rather than cgi the birds out of every frame of film they created a species of cute little flying critters to interact with Chewbacca and called them porgs and used them as a work around for the puffins that were messing up filming. People love them or hate them - much like the sickly sweet modeling chocolate on top of the Rice Krispie treat that they are beguiling .

Oh you are perfect and love how your yellow coordinates with the boys. Just like Tony Orlando, I feel the Dapper Dans and Dawn catching on :-)

Lol I was stupidly tickled to take a picture with them and how they all struck a different and perfect pose!

Thanks for the heads up, I'll have to check this out. I listen to the DIS podcasts while I commute but am always looking for something new.

I will admit it is a little adamantly pro Disney but try a few of the interviews with Disney legends and you will fall in love. He did a series on the history of POTC and discussed an interview with Jim Corcoran and a story he told about Alice Davis (costumer for Disneyland and wife of legendary Imagineer/Illustrator Marc Davis) and I leaned Marc and Alice and their long love story that included a tour of their home where she showed him framed valentines and sketches he drew for her while traveling and his witness to their devotion was the inspiration for Carl and Ellie in Up and I just sobbed. Happy sobbed but like three Kleenex sobbed. I kind of love Up!

Kicking myself that we havent' been able to try this yet. It looks and sounds amazing!

I have to admit I was reticent to try it but it was so much better than I imagined! Except for that cheeseburger bao thing. That was just weird! But I bet that based on your travel schedule you will be back soon! The mobile ordering is a cool perk because I hate trying to stand in line and juggle a tray and find a table but with mobile ordering you can put it in on your phone, sit everyone down and presto - you’re at the window picking it up. And this place is nicer than the standard counter service. Real pottery and the environment has a good story. And cocktails! I had a rum blossom there a few days later. It also had boba balls - Disney seems to have a fixation with them right now.

Terrific, fun reviews and pictures! Thanks for sharing with us - I am looking forward to reading more! :)

Thanks so much and welcome! So had to have you along for the ride. I am kind of a Disney enthusiast so it probably shows when I write about it but I try to be honest. I would hate for my enthusiasm to trick anyone into thinking Tony’s has edible pasta. Ok it was edible but it wasn’t good. Hope you find something helpful along the way!

Next Up - Yak and Yeti (which if said fast sounds disgusting and makes me have to tell my husband every single time “No. it’s not Yakkin’ Yeti - that’s just gross!)

So after adventuring through Asia and visiting the non arm swinging Yeti and visiting some Dinosaurs and swimming with a cute little clownfish we were in danger of being hungry again. I had planned for this and had a brand spanking new Landry’s card with a $25 credit on it in my parks bag so we were tired and I checked us in at the desk and we were placed in the top of the list and within five minutes we had a great window side table on the second floor.

We had great views of people passing by and I was sad they don’t do the Jammin’ Jungle Parade any more because this would have been a prime viewing spot. Man I am going to show my age here but I really loved the old Artimals parade they used to do here. I think that was in like 1999? It was when there wasn’t much open at DAK and it really was a half day park because you rode four attractions and one was a really crummy river cruise and you had done it all. But I am digressing again and you want to hear about the dragon roll!

So for drinks I ordered a very exciting - Water! - I didn’t photograph it so here is an emoji. Jesse got a Diet Coke and Dylan got a Rickshaw Rickie

Yak Attack - Mango Daiquiri, Don Q Cristal Rum and Wild Berry Flavors
$9.99

I had to snag a pic of the internet because I forgot to take a picture but it was cold and mango forward and sweet and slushy. I think we were so excited about of whole $25 credit that we temporarily lost our minds and ordered some appetizers for the table. Exactly how far did we expect this $25 to go?

But we didn’t care because we got these beautiful plates!

Dragon Roll
Spicy tuna, avocado, topped with Dynamite crab, tempura crunch, sweet soy glaze $15.99
B97F7DF5-8094-4C63-B368-88B6FC8A639D.jpeg

I am not a huge sushi fan but the boys loved it and I heard Mmmms and Ahhs from across the table so I am guessing it was good. For $15.99 it’s a pretty big serving too! It’s in the shareable section of the menu so it was meant for two.

Firecracker Shrimp
Crispy fried shrimp tossed in a creamy, spicy sauce, Asian slaw
$11.99
E6679B46-A10D-41F8-8E30-9C14A107493B.jpeg
This is on the small plates portion of the menu and I am pretty sure just this would have been more than enough food! The shrimp are crispy fried and tossed in a tangy creamy sauce with some kick! It was just enough peppery bite and balanced beautifully. I really enjoyed it!

We probably should have stopped here but we had $25 to spend! So we all ordered an entree (and it was day four and I was so glad to be off my feet that I was really enjoying just sitting quietly with a happy little rum buzz and some spicy shrimp.

So for entrees Jesse chose A6F1A6CF-2FD6-4A78-9351-52803F953B37.jpeg
Crispy Honey Chicken
Tempura chicken, sugar snap peas, carrots, honey sauce served with choice of jasmine or brown rice
$18.99

This is on the Wok portion of the menu. It had nice big chunks of tempura battered chicken tossed in a honey sauce with lots of crispy fresh veggies over rice. It’s a nice classic wok dish and he enjoyed it. It was mild and had good mass appeal. Nothing too exotic but a good all around solid choice.

Based on the strong recommendation of Lou Mongella from WDWRadio and the T-shirt’s, Dylan ordered the Ahi Tuna Nachos. Who can resist a “best of” choice?

They had lots of chips and slaw but maybe it was a bit lighter Ahi Tuna than he hoped. Dylan said he wished there was a better balance of slaw to tuna. He liked them but he is a guy who likes his protein and it was delicious but maybe wasn’t protein heavy enough as an entree for him. Probably it would be better as an appetizer if you have a big appetite.

I love curry and spice so I chose the “medium spicy”
Chicken Tikka Masala
Boneless chicken breast marinated in yogurt and freshly ground herbs cooked in a traditional Masala sauce, jasmine rice, garlic naan bread
$23.99
55BAF279-8239-428E-BA2D-03FC04DFA220.jpeg
I love curry and I love Masala and I love warm soft chewy Naan bread and this hit the hot spot. That said I was surprised that in a theme park they called it medium. It tickled my spice palate and was sweating a little. It was full of lots of tender marinated chicken and it was goood! Three o’s goood! But if you are spice sensitive this might be a no go for you.

I shared some with poor little starving and protein deprived Dylan too.

We WERE we wanted dessert but I thought I might pop at this point even though my feet wanted to keep hanging out and sitting. But alas all good meals eventually end and so did this one. The cream cheese wontons will wait for next time when I don’t over order

One thing worth noting since we used the Landry card and I am a former
server so I am pretty particular and generous when I tip- the bill is confusing. I was trying to figure out where the $25 credit was so I made sure I tipped on the full amount not the discounted amount and I saw it said I had one on the bill but I also saw every item we ordered with an amount next to it. I added them up and it came to the total they gave me on the bill. Out came the phone and I checked my math and it was still not showing where the $25 came off. If he bill seemed right. I thought I was losing my mind. I finally asked and when they do the bill they take a portion off each item to total $25 so the &23.99 chicken masala was ringing at $21.99 etc until $25 in credit is applied.

It’s really confusing but once I figured it out I added the $25 in and tipped on the non discounted total and all was right in the world again. If you’re not a crazy details person this might not be helpful at all but I found it confusing so I am passing it on so it helps someone else.

And to whoever clued us into the Landry Card - it was someone on here - Thank You! It’s awesome.

If you don’t know about it - get the Landry Select Card for a $25 and they give you a $25 immediate credit. So it’s basically free and then you also get a $25 credit on your birthday that we will go use when we are in Vegas next month when we over order at the Golden Nugget on Fremont (also a Landry property) Its also good at Rainforest Cafe (not my favorite but many like it) and TRex do you can eat there with no ADR and really that is the best part!

Next stop - Disney Springs and a movie because my dang feet hurt!

Yum, this looks and sounds awesome. We've never tried sushi here, but that looks amazing.

What about the recco from Kastoney too :P Sorry he was a bit disappointed by these though. They are my favorite Yak n Yeti item, but it does look like they may have skimped on the tuna a bit

That is very odd. I don't remember them ever doing that with us.

Not sure if it was me but I'll be happy to take credit :P

View attachment 308330 Today’s Mediocrity brought to you by Tony’s Town Square - I urge you, Bella - do Notte do this. I so wanted to love it!

The bread service was a ciabatta with an olive oil and herb dipping sauce. It was bland. I added some pepper. I tried some salt too. The bread was tender and not quite chewy ciabatta and not quite Italian and the olive oil tasted cheap. Just not my thing.
View attachment 308332

I chose the Chicken Parmesan. It was ok. Not even Olive Garden good but just ok in that it filled my stomach. It was soggy and the breast maybe should have been split or butterflied. It was really thick and then narrow so the cook was uneven and the top was tender and the bottom a little rubbery and the sauce was bland bland bland. Not a favorite but I have done this once and won’t again. Even with my brain in Disney Mode $26 for this was kind of offensive. It was nice sized it just wasn’t very good.

We just ate at Bonefish Grill for supper tonight and they have amazing bread with an olive oil that has pesto in it. SO flavorful-- so looking at that picture of your pitiful olive oil/spice mixture makes me sad. And for 24.50at Bonefish, I got a 6oz filet with au gratin potatoes and a caesar salad. I would be offended by that $26 chicken parm too!

And the sauce to pasta ratio looks way off on the spaghetti and meatballs....at least for my liking. I do like ALL my pasta to have a nice even coating of sauce. It doesn't look like you could possibly cover all the spaghetti with even a thin layer there.
I too have wondered if I should listen to everyone or decide for myself...but I just don't think I could bring myself to try it after viewing your pics.

What about the recco from Kastoney!

You get all the credit for the Landry’s card so long as I stay away from Rainforest Cafe! I learn from the best! And on the cocktail front too!

It seems we love to make $25 stretch. The billing is weird. I went back to find the receipt because I thought it was so off. See how they are all adjusted in price a bit to make the $25 credit work? Like the dragon roll on the menu is $15.99 or the firecracker shrimp was $11.99 on the menu. It’s an odd accounting system. And I only noticed to be sure I tipped on the before discount total. Seems cumbersome to do it like that.

Yeah I am kind of with you on that. I realized that now that we have eaten at Tony’s we have checked all the MK table service spots off our list and unless something big happpens I won’t be back. But all that said someone must like it because it was slammed and we waited over 20 minutes with an ADR to be seated. I’d rather go to Bonefish any day tho!

Going to try to get cracking on this as in addition to my day job I am teaching some night classes in Kinesiology. I love it but it is a time suck! So moving along I can’t find a pic of our AMC Disney Springs treats but they are not too noteworthy- it’s a chain. We had some movie snacks and saw the Greatest Showman and the word of mouth is real! And if you’re tired from the parks and want to get off your feet it so awesome!

And then early on Saturday morning we put our son in an Uber back to MCO and began our couples weekend.

We were hungry and our hotel was right by Disney Springs so we found ourselves at the beautiful BOATHOUSE!

I could tell you that I like this place but I would be lying because I LOVE this place!

It was 11:30 am or so and our coffee and leftover cupcakes were wearing off so we were escorted to a beautiful table inside but close to the patio where the doors were up and looking out over the lake. The decor in here is really cool and vintage nautical and the boat car slip is kinda awesome.

Filet mignon with a nice pink middle and potatoes for a guy in a Potatohead shirt? Yep - it was perfect. The melted butter on the filets and light toast on the soft bun was perfection!

Would we go back? I want to right now. I wish I was hungrier when we went but we also knew we had a 4:00 Garden Rocks reservation at Via Napoli and to get the concert package it was prixe fixe so we had an appetizer entree and dessert coming up so we needed to save tummy space.

I’d go back just for the fresh lobster cocktail alone. Heck the salad was pretty darn good! And there is so much more I want to experience that menu!Try it!

Ha! Being from Texas where Lobster comes from a restaurant or the freezer section, I am good with any lobster. But didn’t you say your boy was a filet mignon fan? Filet? On a slider? For $14 at WDW? That is the price of a crummy theme park burger! Ok I probably won’t tempt you over but enjoy that lobster from home! I kinda feel the same way about Disney BBQ, being a Texan and all.

Date Day continues- knowing that the kiddo was home and it was just the two of us for the weekend I booked a Garden Rocks Package at Via Napoli. Not being local and rarely doing Disney without kids, Epcot has always been our date spot. Way back on our first visit when our 29 year old daughter was a wee three year old we tucked her into bed early and hired a fairy godmother to come to our room and we went on a date to Epcot on our own. We were young and broke and spent all our money on the sitter so our adventure was riding attractions and splitting a ham sandwich and eclair in France but it was special. Flash forward 20 some years we took a cruise out of Port Canaveral for our 25th anniversary and we extended our trip three days and did Universal, the MK and our actual anniversary at Epcot sampling adult beverages and snacks and meandering. It’s just a special spot for us to go alone. So when I saw the Garden Rocks package I snagged a ressie thinkingnit would be like the Candlelight Processional and it would guarantee us a spot at the show. Boy was I wrong! Reserved seating is on the front two rows and our view was like this!

Wandering into Trip Report zone this is Starship with Mickey Thomas. We are old so we loved Jefferson Airplane and Jefferson Starship and even Starship and while Grace Slick isn’t involved it was still a fun nostalgic romp. I think they do three short sets each evening and ours was at 5:30 pm. They did six songs or so hitting all the high points from jane to White a Rabbit and Somebody to Love and with tongue firmly in cheek did Fooled Around and Fell in Love and mentioned it’s in the Guardians of the Galaxy Awesome Mix Vol 1. It was smarmy and sweet and fun. And of course they ended with We Built this City. It was an awesome experience that I wouldn’t have expected and I love that Disney can still surprise me.

Other weird side note - my husband is the human database of music. He remembers details and trivia I never would imagine so half way into the show the guitarist Mark Roth is on our side of the stage and Jess hollers “Go Jim Dandy” and I was befuddled but Mark Roth gave him a big grin. Ahead recognizes him from when he was in Black Oak Arkansas and he saw them when he was in his early 20s. I have no idea how he does it but he’s mine and I am keeping him.

Now onto food.
Via Napoli Ristorante e Pizzeria
Italy Pavilion
Lunch: $54 for adults; $20 for kids
Dinner: $57 for adults; $24 for kids

I have included the individual pricing in on menu items but we are more the “order what you want because that is the best value not ordering the most expensive item” people.

We had trouble getting to the restaurant. Crowd levels were crazy and we had to work our way shoulder to shoulder to get here and we were 10 minutes late - I hate being late to an unnatural degree so this bothered me. Then it took 15 minutes in line to get to the check in stand. I was muttering under my breath - it will be fine. We will get there when we get there. Stressing won’t make it better” - you know - sane voices in my head.

And by the time we got checked in it was better. We sat down to wait. I always give the name Jesse to check in because in a crowded spot Dawn can sound like Shawn and John and Tom etc. we sat down and waited and I thought I heard our last name and then we saw someone else get up and they were seated. So we sat some more and some more and 25 minutes later knowing we were supposed to be at the 5:30 show, my internal voices were not soothing me anymore they were screaming. I was getting upset and we saw people who walked in and checked in after us being seated and normally a two top isn’t that hard to seat. Something was wrong.

Jesse went to check and indeed they had called us and someone else claimed our seating and we were off the list. A manager came over and apologized profusely but once I was seated and had a cold glass of $8 Pinot Grigio in front of me and I was ok. I did notice the manager comped the glass of wine on the bill. I didn’t ask him to but I am ok with it too. I don’t have a pic of it because I was a little flustered and then we were now being “over helped” by a server and two assistants who wanted to make sure we were happy. I can tell you the wine was cold, crisp and very welcomed and semi quickly consumed.

Once I settled in I got my game back and I started with

Arancini
fried risotto balls filled with mozzarella and meat ragù
$13.00
E64FC053-91CE-49CC-9109-B63B75EED455.jpeg
My gracious they are HUGE. About the size of a tennis ball and they are also amazing and creamy and yummy but I wish we had shared an order. Way way way too much for just one person. I ate most of one and was done. I was worried about the sauce given my bad experience without atonys but this had hints of aromatics and fresh basil and it had a good olive oil finish in it and it was good.

Jesse chose the
Prosciutto e Melone
prosciutto di parma, canteloupe
$10.00
FBA171E1-9632-4CC7-8B1D-FF66A34D49D1.jpeg
It was ok. Jess worked for a few years with a French Telecom company and we lived in the South of France back with the kiddos were very small. Prosciutto and melon was a common item on the menus there though the melons were always about the size of a softball and much sweeter than the American cantaloupe counterpart. He didn’t really like this. He said the melon wasn’t ripe and the prosciutto was too fatty. Maybe it wasn’t that good. Maybe he was also flustered from the mess of getting seated and had not settled in too well yet but it was a miss.

Keeping it simple he also went for the very basic pizza choice

Margherita 10" Individual
tomato sauce, mozzarella, basil - add additional toppings

This was better and we were finally relaxing and enjoying our time. He ate it all so I call that a hit. It was comfort food with a chewy crust and simple toppings. I would have liked more basil but he was fine with it.

I decided to go with a white pizza since my appy had red sauce and chose the
Carciofi Pizza - Individual
white pizza - artichoke, fontina, mozzarella, truffle oil
Serving $22.00

It was delicious and the artichoke’s acidic tang with the earthy truffle oil was a great match and the fontina cheese had just enough bite to it to make the flavors pop. I think a traditional mozzarella would be too bland. I was really full from my giant appetizer so I packaged up half of this to take home. Yay! We drug a bag of pizza around the rest of the night but it was good for breakfast

Dessert was included but we were both kind of full and it seemed a waste. I went simple and chose pistachio gelato.

Gelati e Sorbetto
vanilla, chocolate, pistachio gelato; lemon sorbet

I ate 1/2 if the creamy top scoop and a nibble of the pistachio brittle that was airy and crisp. We visit New Mexico every summer and pistachio brittle is a treat we like from there and this reminded me of that. The gelato is so creamy. It was a shame I just didn’t want much of it. Maybe I should have gotten a cannoli to go. We already were hauling around half a pizza.

Jess chose the
Gelato Frizzante
ice cream soda “Italian-style” made with San Pellegrino aranciata and vanilla gelato
$11.00

This was yummy too. Creamy and citrusy and he finished it all and said the light orange soda lightened it so he could appreciate the sweet.

All told - we loved the concert seating and since we were so late it was a good thing they were reserved.

Ill own it. Being late was partly our fault for not adequately estimating the travel time w the crowd . But imagine this - but we left The Imagination Pavilion 20 minutes before we needed to check in. We didn’t count on a 30 minute walk to get there with crowds (also Steve Harvey was filming at the front of the World Showcase lagoon and that was making the crowds merge around hiis set and linger so it clogged up traffic in greater numbers) but I would do the package again - I just would make sure I was hungrier.

I would give Via Napoli another shot. It’s not their fault someone hi jacked our seating. And they did try to make it right. Oh and all the other pizza on property is reallg bad so I guess it was worth it to have a decent slice.

This reminds me of the time they were filming and episode of The Middle in New Fantasyland right by Gaston's Tavern. All I wanted was a stinkin' LeFou's Brew and those crowds meddling around were making it near impossible to get through (and they followed the cast all around MK that day making it near impossible to walk at any given moment)

After the excitement of seeing Starship and working our way back to the front of the park we had a bit of time to kill before our Soarin’ Fastpass. We toured the Land and marveled at fish farming and growing lettuce in a gutter and still had a bit of time and I realized I was in mortal danger of experiencing hunger but thank goodness we were by Sunshine Seasons! Jess loves Key Lime Pie so that was a no brained and we contemplated some cheesecake and then he spied the Mickey shaped cheesecake and said “get that instead of the slice. It will photograph better for your review.” Be still my heart!

The Key Lime Pie had a nice sandy crust and nice tart but super sweet filling. Maybe this was a little too much meringue but it’s so pretty. It’s not my favorite so it’s hard for me to review too well since they all taste too sweet for me but Jesse really liked it.

The cheesecake is so cute. It’s a nice chocolate wafer crumb crust and the filling isn’t too sweet and is creamy. The buttons are little white chocolate discs and I didn’t find the red layer off putting. I am pretty sure the only way to make cheesecake better is to make it Mickey shaped. And baby Oreos! Score! Then we soared and worked our way back up to the front of the park and ubered back to the hotel. This half day of touring following four full days had me craving our day off on Sunday but this was pretty much a perfect Disney Day.

Looks like you two had a great lunch at the Boathouse. I almost got the filet sliders your hubby did as I read so many good things about them, but then just couldn't bring myself to not order seafood in someplace with "boat" in the name :-)

Those are some great seats you got for the concert. Wonder if they do food and wine seating like this too? That definitely makes it worth it.

Glad to hear you all enjoyed Via Napoli despite all the trouble getting seating. The carciofi is my favorite pizza of all time!

That had to be soooo frustrating and I am conflicted because I kind of love watching sit coms when people visit WDW so I have contributed to the problem and I watched the Steve Harvey episode when I got home. But oh lord the crowds!

I can totally relate to that. I wish I was a little hungrier when we got there but what we had was super good and he loved the sliders. Most of all the staff was pretty amazing and helpful. Have you seen that crazy s’mores for four? I did not travel with enough people to order it but dang it looks good.

The pizza was worth the wait. I hate to sound like I am complaining because it was fine once we finally sorted out seating and I was on a date with my husband and seeing a band and at Epcot - it wasn’t torture. It turned out well too!

Sunday Morning came and so did the waterworks! I think I had this crushing reality moment when I knew my kid was back home safely and he will graduate college in May and this was probably the last time we would be at WDW with just us. I know we will take grandkids some day but this closes this part of our lives.

Blame it on hormones. Blame it on five days on a row in parks and being tired. Blame it on the fact Disney makes me emotional anyway but it does factor in as we packed up to leave the Doubletree and move off Disney property over to the Gaylord. It kind of was like closing the chapter in a book and it was a wonderful read but it was sadly ending. If your kiddos are little enjoy everything - even temper fits and chicken pox. These days end much too fast. And yes I think I love Disney because of the happy memories we have there and that it gives us permission to be kids again too. I mean can you walk by the Living Seas and not chant “mine, mine, mine” just a little? Or sing “Blood on the saddle” at Country Bears? It’s just part of it.

So we stowed the bags with bell check and caught an Uber over to the Contemporary for

Brunch at the Top of the World at the

It was such a beautiful day. I had slipped (wisely) into some princess Aurora leggings with a simple black top and a lacy jacket so I had my stretchy pants on!

We checked in and rode the elevator up and were greeted with mimosas - ok they are not traditional mimosas- I watched the bar and it’s Cupcake label Prosecco with blueberry boba bubbles. Someone in the Disney culinary department decided boba bubbles are fun because they are everywhere and know what? They are pretty fun! They made me smile! Well that and the fact a string duet was playing classic Disney Tunes and I was sitting up so high on a beautiful day (even with it being time change Sunday and had a panoramic view of most of WDW. Here is that smile!

And that mimosa!

I think I saw the traditional orange juice ones on other reviews so maybe this is new? Either way it was yummy! The blueberry pop was a fun contrast to the crisp white sparkle in the wine.

And oh that view! 71707D89-4129-4548-BDBB-70EB4CCC0A49.jpeg

And a few pics of us just being silly
24874908-D54B-4082-A660-2D5E31885CD3.jpeg

Before long we were seated on the far end of the restaurant and Jess sat with his back the windows and I sat and could see Everest and the Epcot Ball and The Swan and Dolphin and Everest and a bit of Pandora and a little of the Tower of Terror and a bit of the Grand Floridian and the Poly and the rooftop of the Wilderness Lodge and I was having my second mimosa and the duo was playing a funky version of Under the Sea and I just got downright weepy and I was so glad they had the big California Grill dish towel style napkin. Jess asked what was wrong and I told him nothing at all. I had just spent five days with my family in my absolute favorite place in the world and I was sitting in one of my favorite spots with my favorite person and I could see so many places I loved and I wanted to just remember that moment forever. And he said back “All I have ever wanted was to give you moments like this.” And it broke and dang - I was a gusher! But I bet you can relate a little.

So we ordered some coffee (I do love the set up) because weepy and an hour of time change and a third mimosa right away seemed a bad combo. We walked out on he observantion deck so I could get composed. The coffee came while we were out.

I do love a press pot and the set up! And I love the raw sugar too. Just made it feel special. I love that I am not paying extra for a presspot and it is included with the brunch too. I’m a coffee fiend. Jess wanted some and I told him to get his own!
5CF6C0F7-A598-4AEE-AF36-69B38F0D721C.jpeg

And I almost was composed and ready to come in then the dang duo started playing Feed the Birds - my absolute favorite Disney song of all time - I love the simplicity and how it’s almost a whispered prayer. I love the message that kindness doesn’t have to cost much but if you miss the chance to take advantage of a kindness it costs so much more. A few tuppance for bread crumbs and here I am blessed and able to pay $79 for a brunch and at this beautiful place. So I cried a little more then went in to visit the self serve” stations - aka the buffet portion.

Back inside I had pulled myself together and we visited the top part of this menu D0D1D6DE-7DD6-4409-B432-E70F2398AE49.jpeg

And here are our plates
Jesse, the sushi lover, chose sushi and a cheddar biscuit.
2E824E37-A680-4E6F-8624-0F9A218EE408.jpeg

And I never met a carb or cheese I didn’t like so I chose some fantastic deviled eggs, housemade charcuterie, and balancesd it red onion jam that made me want to put the chef’s face on money! And finished it on a crisp cracker type bread that reminds me of the bread service at Nomad. Yummy.

Oh and a sticky bun - that was kind of not a fair fight for the bun with the rest of the plate but it was ok.

And then came the entrees

Brunch the sequel
So here is a better view of the deviled eggs - these are so good you want to rub them in your hair.
Deviled Eggs, Crispy Lardons, Spiced Aïoli

And the charcuterie selection
House-made Charcuterie
Orange-Honey Ham, Bison and Sweetbread Terrine, Pork Belly Rillettes, Whole-Grain Mustard, Zellwood Pickles, Pickled Pero Farms Peppers, Sweet Onion Jam
B3760CD5-94D4-449B-8229-2C471605116B.jpeg
That onion jam and the drunken cheese should not be missed and where have these trendy little peppers been my whole life? They are soooo good!

Jesse also wanted another cheddar biscuit so here is a pretty shot of one and he got me a guava turnover because - um it’s guava! Yummy! They have an orange blossom honey butter that makes the bread options go from yum to yumtastic. Please do not miss the orange blossom honey butter!

7323A36E-9949-4F3C-B780-3D2152A1F262.jpeg 757F95D9-89D5-4C6F-B132-D888458CBB8E.jpeg

For our main entrees I chose the Lobster Eggs Benedict -
Eggs Benedict
Two Soft-poached Eggs, Toasted English Muffin, Honey Ham, Classic Hollandaise. Additionally available with Butter-poached Main Lobster or Smoked Salmon

A86B2BDB-2490-44AA-BF21-F4F53E6C2982.jpeg

A perfect soft poached egg with a just cooked yolk - no hint of the sulfury taste you get if they over cook, the honey ham compliments the rich hollandaise and pop on some nice tender buttery chunks of lobster. Mmmmm - I felt guilty for only eating one and wish you could do half orders. But I cherry picked out the lobster from the second one because it would be profane to leave it!

And Jesse chose the hanger Steak and Eggs

Grilled Hanger Steak
Two Eggs Any-style, Chimichurri, Marble Potato Hash, Charred Red Onion
EDF34F24-976D-401E-B417-953F6A57DFFF.jpeg
This is the steak cooked medium sans the charred onion with over medium eggs. He said it had great flavor and liked it. The potato hash has a salty savory seasoning that makes them pop - classic Salt and pepper and maybe paprika?

And the server asked if I wanted a side of potato hash and it was giant. I couldnt come close to doing even half of it. We also got an order of Carrot Cake Pancakes. After listening to the sweet solo diner next to us order (we had been chatting a bit so I am not a total stalker)we realized we could get half orders. I had been conflicted about carrot cake pancakes or the vanilla bean French toast and these.

She got the French toast and offered me a bite. I am friendly but that is a little too much so I passed. If you have it describe it for me! That won’t cross my line! Lol but you have to love Disney and how it makes people want to be kind. I am kind and like connecting but I am not quite an “eat off a strangers plate” level connector.

Holy cow! These were nice and spicy and yummy! The butter! Oh Lordy! My day just kept getting better and I thought it was perfect. Get the carrot cake pancakes but maybe ask for a half order to share.

We also had our desserts packed up to go as we were stuffed but they present them like this on a simple classic white cake stand.

And on the way out because I am a huge fan of her work I made a stop on the fourth floor to see the Mary’s Blair Mural.(Small World artist too)

Fun fact since imagineers can’t sign their work they use hidden mickeys. But Mary is an artist so it’s one if he few permanent installations where you will find that it has been signed. Cool eh!

Beautiful review so far!! My husband and I have brunch at California Grill booked next Sunday. I have been going back and forth because of the price and the fact that he is not a huge eater, but lovely reviews like yours keep convincing me!!

I had cancelled my brunch. Your review just got me to rebook. We did it last year—just me and dd. This year I’ll bring all three children.
