Canadian Buffoon's Back to Front Vacation - Update! 05/18 - Falling Down

As usual, playing catch up on the DIS!

But you're here now. :)

Who knew they had the Keg in the US???

::yes:: But not too many.
It's only in a few places, I believe.

I'm glad to hear if I'm craving a taste of home I might find that there lol.

And yet.
To be quite honest,
it wasn't as good
as any Keg I've been
to in Canada
(And I've been to ones
in Winnipeg, Vancouver,
Ottawa and probably
Edmonton.)

I live within a block of a Keg and it is indeed quite tasty.

::yes::
I could live off their escargot.

Perfectly normal and I'd be right there with ya for ice cream.

::yes::

Chowder maybe not....but I get it.

You might if you'd
tried this stuff.

It was that good.

I was looking at the menu and that seafood bisque would be my choice. I think I'd get a whole bowl of that.

I might do that next time...
Or cave again and order
the sampler even though
I now know I won't be
able to finish it!

Ducks in a row!! LOVE it!! I finally know where the expression comes from. I don't think I've honestly seen them do that before!

Now you know!

Do you think it's your work
filtering that site?
It definitely is. They filter out all the fun stuff. YouTube. Radio streaming. Twitter. Basically any social media. I guess they occasionally add more stuff. It's like they want us to work when we're here. I just came for the free tea and was hoping they wouldn't notice my DIS time.

He's a wise man.

He must be...

He married you.

That's questionable. He waited until late yesterday afternoon to so our taxes (they were due yesterday April 15th). Of course lots went wrong but they are finally done. We don't owe and will actually have some Disney money.

Is this another version
of "put a ring on it"???

Absolutely!:bride:

Huh!
And... I don't think
I've ever had crawfish,
but would like to try.

I actually have a crawfish
story too!

I love boiled crawfish. We're making plans to get some on Good Friday.

What's your crawfish story?

About two and a half weeks! Woot!

:banana::banana::banana:

At least they're done now. :)

Nice!
Love when that happens. :)
My refund was almost exactly
what I had to pay to get my
bike's maintenance and brakes
done. :sad2:

Wish I could come! :)

What's your crawfish story?

When I was... oh, about 10 years old,
my parents went on vacation and I
stayed at my aunt and uncle's house.
I had a cousin who was my age.
One day we each took a long piece
of string and some bread down
to the river that ran along the back
of their property.
It's a little river... maybe 20' across.

We'd tear off a piece of bread,
tie it to the string and toss it
in the water. Not sure, but we
may have weighted it down with
a rock too.
We'd then wait for a minute or so
and then carefully pull the string back.
More often then not there'd be a
crawfish hanging on to the bread.
We'd get the crawfish ashore and
pop it into a bucket that we had.

I also caught a clam the size of
your fist, that day, which surprised
the heck out of us.

Anyways, by the time we got bored,
an hour or so later, we had caught
about a hundred crawdads.

And... we didn't know what to do
with them...

So we dumped them all back into
the river!

We still talk about it.
"Hey remember that time
we caught all those crayfish?..."

::yes::

At least they're done now. :)

I know I'm late to the party again -- but I'm still going to play along.

So how long did it take you
to notice (if you did at all)
that Chewie was wearing
mouse ears?

I actually did notice the mickey ears almost instantly. I've gotten in the habit of scouring your pictures for hidden things, so it was practically a relex.

Some little guy tugged on
my sleeve and pointed up.
I looked up and started to laugh.
Okay... I had to take a photo
of this sign post.

Dude is showing up everywhere! He does know this is Disney and not Warner Bros, right?

I suggested The Keg.

always a good choice.

(I like the guy photobombing us. Way to join in, dude. :))

Per my habit of scouring the pictures, I also noticed that as well...that and your head creepily reflecting off the table top.

I know you saw it in this chapter...
But did you see both of them?
All three of them?

Sure did. Line, cars, and distance sign.

Nice!
Love when that happens. :)
My refund was almost exactly
what I had to pay to get my

Our refunds are usually for stuff like this too. Example: new tires, house maintenance, pets annual visits w/meds, stuff for kids. etc.

Wish I could come! :)

Me too. If you ever make it down here try to come during crawfish season which is basically the spring. People start wanting them at the beginning of Lent but sometimes there aren't in abundance yet and the price is high. We did a crawfish boil for my oldest's high school graduation and for Danielle's. Both were mid May. The corvette club has one planned for May 4th.

We still talk about it.

Good story. My Dad use to take us crawfishing when were little. What we didn't catch we would buy on the way home so we could have a good boil. My older sister and I caught a few like you did when were in middle school and had a small boil for just us. Being young we didn't know how to season them real good.

Well...

In my defense, I should post
the original unedited photo.
The sun was shining from
behind and everything dark
blended together.

He's easily confused.
Just ask a certain bunny.

Mine are usually for fun stuff.
I figure that I have to pay
for something, that can come
out of the "general revenue".
But not this year.

Me too. If you ever make it down here try to come during crawfish season which is basically the spring

Noted.
Seriously no clue if/when
I'd ever make down there.

My problem is that NOLA is
high on both mine and DW's
bucket list.
So I can't really go without her.
And if she comes along...

Well... she's
1. not keen on meeting people. and;
2. allergic to sea food

So you're saying you'd
do a crawfish boil if a
certain Canadian
came for a visit?

My older sister and I caught a few like you did when were in middle school and had a small boil for just us. Being young we didn't know how to season them real good.

So now I'm wondering...
How many crawfish do you
need for a boil?
Like... what's the average
number per person?
5? 50? I have no idea.

I know you didn't ask me -- but the general consensus is you buy 3-5 lbs of crawfish per person. I don't mess with eating them b/c it is way too much work for such a small piece of meat, so I focus on the potatoes and corn that are also thrown into the boil. OMG those are so good.

I do not know how many crawfish are in a pound though. From a quick google search it appears that they only weigh about an oz (which I find hard to believe), so you'd be looking at practically 16 crawfish per pound -- meaning about 50 per person.

Notice the sign above?
"You squeeze, you buy".

again -- I've been trained to scour your pictures...so yes, I did notice the sign. hahaha

There was live entertainment, too!
The Three Tenors were performing.
I caught them mid-aria,
before they were told
to cool it and were
put on ice.

took me awhile to realize you were referencing the fish. :rolleyes1

Then again, I was impressed
by the selection on offer.
French Onion Bratwurst?

Again... sadly I have no way
of getting it home and onto
the grill.

sounds like that could be very tasty. French onion is good. Bratwurst is good. I hope the combination is even better.

I haven't read every post on every page, so I apologize if you've already covered this -- but what is your loose itinerary for your upcoming Dad/daughter trip? I won't be back until this summer -- so I'm having to live vicariously through others for the next few months. I'm in serious withdrawal. It's been 4 months since I was there!

Yep!
With their mouths open,
it looked like they were
singing an aria.

That's what I was thinking.

We're heading out
stooopid early on
April 30th.
In Disney until May 4th.

Hello there! I'm back and catching up on trip reports! (reading, not writing…though I really need to do that soon!)

The Disney meet looks like so much fun and how great that you got to see Liesa again! Although after your description, I'm a little scared to meet her in a few weeks :scared1:

That market looks amazing…I would love to spend a few hours in there, and it actually looks like something Mike would love to do too…if he would only fly. Someday when we make our cross-country car trip we will definitely check it out.

And I'm with you…I would never wait in that line for Starbucks coffee since it's :crazy2:
