Canadian Buffoon's Exhausted Vacation - Update 09/01 - New TR link!

Great. Now I have to pay extra
for something I can do myself.

I wish that were the case with cars. Most of the time, I have no idea.

Yeah!
I think everyone looks at it and just...
look away. Dull. Boring. Cube.

It's not small.

Not in the least! I remember being able to see it from the Disney Cruise port, miles away.

And... did you know there are plans for that?
It's called Orion and works like this:
You set off a nuclear bomb under a plate.
I guarantee that plate will move.
You keep throwing nuclear bombs

under it. You now have thrust.

I haven't heard of that before. That sounds...dangerous.

Are you disputing the claim??

Heck, yes! I've met one or two around here that are pretty good.

And yet... I don't know if it's time,
the fact that I lived one and not the other,
the fact that there was a school teacher,
or the fact that there were 7 vs 3...

The Challenger disaster hits me much harder.

Me too. I think being alive does make a difference. I remember sitting in school when the principal announced the Challenger disaster on the P.A. It's a memory as opposed to a part of history you read about.

Same with something like 9/11 vs. Pearl Harbor. Both are horrible events, full of tragedy. 9/11 draws more of an emotional response from me, though.

You know you're chanting that
to a Canadian, right?

Well, we ugly Americans are obnoxious to all other nations, right? Don't answer that.

Very much! Nothing demonstrates more
that this thing's been in space, than those
scars on the tiles.
A docent there said that after it landed,
they basically drained all the harmful

chemicals out and put it up, as is.

Another cool thing?
They took the engines out...
because they're using them.

So. Awesome.

DSC06780.JPG

These photos are amazing!

And since you can use your phone
to unlock your room...

The MB stayed home while poppa
went out to play.

I thought fore sure this had to be foreshadowing for the phone not working at the end of the night...bad battery...or lost phone? Or something else?

Get to the end and no hijinks? Come on!!!

A shuttle was waiting for me
near the lobby and I got in.
The irony of that statement
didn't occur to me until later.

You'll see.

I don't get this one.

I get few perks with my job,
but "Emerald" status with
National Car Rental is one.
What that means is I can usually
skip any lines that might exist.
Today was no exception.

I love me some perks -- and especially when I don't have to pay for them.

It always surprises me a bit
when I walk into a 7-11 in the US
and they only have 2-4 Slurpee
flavours.
Up here, the store closest to my
home has 16 different flavours.

We don't have 7/11s here in Texas anymore. They got bought out by diamond shamrock in the early 90s -- and then THEY got bought out by Valero about 10 years later. My memory is we only had 2-4 flavors as well. As a kid -- we'd ride our bikes up to the corner store in the summer and play street fighter 2 on the arcade system and get slurpees. Well -- my friends played and got slurpees. I had no money (well, I did have some money -- but I didn't want to waste it on arcade games and slurpees). Those were definitely simpler times.

and... oddly enough...
you pretty much have to pass
through the gift shop to do it.

I can't believe it! The nerve of those people.

This road is what the rocket is
transported on.
And has to be re-graded each time.

that's crazy.

But the VAB is the 4th largest
building in the world by volume.

sooooooo...what's #1, 2 and 3???

The flag is correct, of course...
Just wonder why they chose that side.
(And don't tell me it's about the flag code.
I know about it... but the stars on the
other, traditional, side also works.)

are you asking why the flag code wants it on the viewer's left hand side? If so -- I have no idea.

After a quick look-see at
the garden, we went inside
where they had a demonstration
of what it might have looked like
during an Apollo launch...

BUT WHERE ARE THE PEOPLE????

...minus the people.

You can't have everything.

Oh -- I should probably read a litter further.

Times have changed.
The Saturn rocket is huge.
The various stages are
lined up in order and span
a distance of over 360'.
Or longer than a football field.

The Command Module is this
little bit that I've highlighted
for you, in case you weren't
aware/sure which it was:

that thing is tiny.

AdeptFarBlackandtancoonhound-small.gif

tenor.gif

One was used as a lifeboat
and was destroyed when it
re-entered Earth's atmosphere.
(Seen the movie Apollo 13?
Let me know if you have or not.)

I have seen it -- twice I believe -- but I don't really remember much from it.

No one knew quite where until
it was found just this past June,
almost exactly 50 years after
it was lost.
How cool is that?

pretty crazy. Is it considered space trash now?

The story goes...
Nasa needed a pen to write in space.
A normal pen uses gravity to get
the ink flowing and of course that wouldn't
work in outer space. What to do?
So NASA put their brightest minds
to work and spent millions of dollars
to invent a pen that would work in
zero gravity...

The Russians used a pencil.

:rotfl2:
Secondly... Have you heard of Apollo 1?

I have not

That's right, we Canadians
are essential to your space
program.
Without us, you'd... build
it yourselves. :lmao:

:rotfl2:

You don't really get
a sense of just how
massive this thing is
until you look at the
underside!

what's with you and all the talk about how big and massive everything is???

I was actually going to say it kind of reminds me of the underside of a sting ray.

There were other items
such as personal effects
of the crews and mementos
such as letters.
A very sobering and thought
provoking display.

those displays are kind of haunting. So simple -- yet so powerful.

I thought it was a clever
way of announcing the
location of the public
restrooms.

I mean... P P gallery?

What are you...5?

Eventually my ADR time came up
and I made my way over to
Chez Fart Smith's Homecomin'.

What are you...4?

These were really good!
Possibly the best I've had.
The bacon helped.

bacon bacon bacon bacon bacon

My main course arrived soon after.
Two-piece chicken meal with
mashed spuds and mac n cheese.

how did the chicken compare to 50s prime time?

But I also knew that
if an ASSp bus came first, that I could
just take that one as my room was
almost as close to ASSp's bus stop
as it was to ASMu's.

Nice thinking!!!

Of course Disney saw this and had
already devised a solution.
The first bus was filled to capacity
and pulled away... and a second bus
immediately pulled in to the vacant
spot and I boarded.
It was nice of them to provide a nearly
empty bus for me.

sweet!

Oh... and that couple? They came back
and I let them back in line in front of me.
It was the right thing to do.
They were on the same bus I was.

Oh man! I thought for sure you were going to just start laughing maniacally at them...while getting the last spot on the bus...and just continue to stare and point at them through the window.

And then when you get back to your room, you realize you lost your phone and couldn't get back into the room. THAT would have been HILARIOUS karma. hahahaha

But instead -- you were super nice and everything worked out.

Caught up on this one too!! I'll make the bold faced lie to myself and say I'm going to keep up this time. :rotfl:

Too much to comment on but I will say that I really enjoyed the Batuu chapter and the pictures from TOT.

You probably read about the sub-par Mac and Cheese at Homecomin from me. What you got looks so much better than what I had. I think the batch I got was way over baked and it was dry and tasteless.

I wish that were the case with cars. Most of the time, I have no idea.
Me too, except...
I can do a few things.

Like... the other day I was over
at my mom's for her birthday.
She mentioned she was bringing
her car in to the shop because
she had a burned out headlight.
I excused myself, went to the store,
bought a headlight ($15) and
replaced it.

Probably saved her $50+.
Not in the least! I remember being able to see it from the Disney Cruise port, miles away.
::yes::
Deceptively large.
I haven't heard of that before. That sounds...dangerous.
well... I'd hoped they wouldn't
use that in Earth's atmosphere.

Heck, yes! I've met one or two around here that are pretty good.
So... 99.999997%?

I think you're right.
I have very little feelings about
Kennedy, for instance... but my
mom knows exactly where she

was that day.
Well, we ugly Americans are obnoxious to all other nations, right? Don't answer that.
Who me?

So. Awesome.
::yes::

I thought fore sure this had to be foreshadowing for the phone not working at the end of the night...bad battery...or lost phone? Or something else?

Get to the end and no hijinks? Come on!!!
Right... I forgot to write about that.
I got back to my resort and...
the building was gone.
Rod Serling gleefully rubbed

his hands together, in the distance.
I don't get this one.
:sad2:
I knew you would say that.
When I wrote it, I thought to
myself "I'm going to have to
hear about this from mustinjourney."

It's totally not irony...
But I couldn't think of
a better word at the time...

I still can't.
Coincidentally? Boring.
As chance would have it? Too wordy.
Providentially? Too high-falutin
'.
I love me some perks -- and especially when I don't have to pay for them.
Best kind. ::yes::

Still big, though.

Doc answered it. :)

You probably read about the sub-par Mac and Cheese at Homecomin from me.
Very likely.
I know I read two if not three
poor reviews of it.
What you got looks so much better than what I had. I think the batch I got was way over baked and it was dry and tasteless.
Maybe that was it?
Growing pains, perhaps?

Just Friends, Sir

Wonder if anyone recognizes
that quote?
Anyways...

It was a dark and stormy night.

Well... it was dark... and it was rough.
I've always had really good sleeps
at Disney.
(No sleep like a Disney sleep!)
But that night?
Not so much.

I got to sleep around 12:30am
and for whatever reason, was
up at 4:00am. I tossed and turned
and finally fell back asleep at 5:00am.

Curse of an aging shift-worker.

My alarm woke me for good at 8:00am.
I didn't appreciate the intrusion.
Whelp, no matter, things to do!
People to see!

Not necessarily in that order.

I was going over to Doc (@docsoliday1 )
and Coni's house for a bit of visiting
and relaxing.
I'd looked into the price of a Lyft
and the cost was just about double
what it would cost me to rent
a car and go. So rent, I shall.

I'm not going to give you his address,
of course, but it was a fair distance
from WDW.
Then again, if they move it won't matter...
Well... If you really want to learn...
101 E Central Blvd, Orlando, FL 32801

I was still bleary eyed and semi-comatose
when I called National at 8:15am asking if
they could send a shuttle over to ASMu
to pick me up.

"Of course, sir. We just need to
attach the external tank and
booster rockets and we'll have
you on your way in not time."

Wait... that was yesterday's shuttle...
What she actually said was:

"Can you be ready by 8:35?"

20 minutes? There can only be
one response to that...
"Yup!"

I mean... it shouldn't take anyone more
than 20 minutes to get ready and go, right?

I grabbed Betty (the GPS) and my wallet,
and shoved my sunglasses w/case into
a front pocket, which looks very impressive,
let me tell ya.

Sorry. Family board.

I got to the pick up point with
forty seconds to spare. Yuss!

Not long after, I was in my
rental car and zipping off
down the highway.

I arrived at the house where
for some strange reason,
I was warmly received by Doc.
He surprised me with a nice gift.
Knowing my... interest... in Ariel,
he got me a mug that is black,
but when heated shows a scene.
Here's a photo I snapped when
I made some hot chocolate the
other day:

RenderedImage_zpsymjw7fy2.jpg

(when cool, the entire mug is the colour of the handle.)

I won't go into overly much detail
of the conversations and whatnot
that occurred over the next few hours.

Suffice to say that we played about
20 games of pool and I beat him
at every single one.

Hmmm... hang on... let me check
my notes on that...

Okay, it wasn't 20 games,
it was more like 4-5.
And he beat me every time.
The sun was in my eyes
and he sent his dog out
to distract me.
Which is a dirty trick,
but adorable.

After a while, Coni came home
and we chatted for a bit
before heading out.
Doc had found an ice cream
place that he thought I'd like.

We arrived not long after and...

Okay... I'm mean... but...
I kinda found it funny how
consternated he looked when
we saw it was closed!
Who closes shop on a Thursday??

We went to a different place
that served ice cream creations
on a cold slab.
I'm sure you're familiar with
the type.
And surprisingly they were open!
On a Thursday!

IMG_2851_zpso8vd5x47.jpg

Yummm...
Ice cream is one of the
best things in life.
Possibly the best thing.

Proof that we were there...

IMG_2852_zpsl0g3t2tc.jpg

My selfie game needs work.
They look great...
I look... well, just look at the
titles of almost all my TRs...

Eventually, I had to skedaddle
as I had a timed event that
I couldn't miss or postpone.

Thanks for the company, Doc.
I had a great time just hanging
out with you and the Mrs. :)

Upon my return, as I did the previous
day, I stopped by ASMu to dump
off a few things.
I wouldn't need either the GPS
or the wallet since I was going
to a park.
I slapped on my MB and was
ready to go.

I stopped at the gas station
that's near the MK parking
booths (you have to go through
them to return the car...
the damage was considerable. :rolleyes1 )
Um... oh...
I'd dropped off my wallet...
and all my credit/debit cards
and cash...

Oddly enough, the gas station
wouldn't take a MB as payment.

This is unacceptable.

I returned the car without
the full tank, but it only
cost me $10 more.
Probably about what fueling
up would've cost anyways.

I hopped on a shuttle and
soon after arrived at Epcot.

You know what?
I have an AP.
I have a few minutes
to spare and I really
need to take advantage
of the free Photopass...

524139823_zpsgitooagm.jpg

It was Food & Wine of course,
(you have been paying attention, right?
Tell me if you have or haven't.)
so the photographer handed me
what I assumed was a snack.
Hey! A giant cookie! All right!

524139918b_zps2rdxiefr.jpg

Disney is really slipping with
their snacks. This one tasted
like it was made of wood!

524140042_zpsgay5qvbu.jpg

Okay, enough silliness.
Time to show you where
I'm going and what I'm up to.

Let me know when your
stomach has stopped heaving...

Ready?

Okay, I'll wait some more.

Now?

How about now?

Now?

Okay...
I'll try to warn you if
there'll be any more photos
of me like that from now on.

My destination was here:

DSC08185_zpsa5xdgydk.jpg

I took the photo and promptly turned
around and marched out of the park.

:rolleyes1

I was going into the Seas, but
I was really going into it.
I was doing Divequest that
afternoon.
The entrance/meeting point
is outside the park by
customer relations.

There was a small group already
there and I joined in the waiting.
A few minutes later, our group
was gathered by a CM and we
were asked to present proof
of dive certification and our
wetsuit and shoe size.

Usually I don't have to prove
to people that I'm certifiable,
but I handed over my dive card
and told him my sizes.

We then went on a backstage
tour of the Seas.
Like most (if not all) of Disney,
photos are not allowed backstage.

We were shown where they prep
food for the fish/mammals and
the manatee backstage area.

After a while, we signed waivers
and went to change into our suits.

I've posted about this dive before
and you can read more about it here.

I must admit that I was just a bit...
disappointed with this dive.
Usually, (I've done this two prior times)
when I do this dive, I interact with the
guests either in the observation area(s)
or in the Coral Reef restaurant.
I'm usually the only one who does it.
This time, it seemed like everyone was
doing it and so there were fewer
opportunities to interact.

Still, there were kids who were
thrilled to "play" with the "Disney
diver" which was "cool" for them
I'm "sure".

Did you just read that like this?

Still, there were kids who were
thrilled to
Play with the Disney
diver
which was cool for them
I'm
sure.

Well, did you?

Most of the divers seemed
to have families/friends dining
in the Coral Reef, so I spent more
time closer to the surface at
the viewing areas.
I didn't run out of air and
need a tank replacement
as a result.

After the dive, I had another
bit of disappointment.
There's a videographer in
the water with the guests.
You can buy a video of the
dive afterwards.
And I always have.

But...
The other divers were either
couples or parents with child.
In my experience, that's fairly
standard.
Except... I noticed that the couples
and the parent/child were
holding hands fairly frequently...

The reason I noticed is because
it makes for a cute video.
And that's all the videographer shot.
There were zero shots of me, so...
I didn't bother to buy a video
of other people swimming.
Which translates to no
photos/screen grabs for you.

Maybe that's a good thing.
How's your stomach?
Feeling better?

So the only photo you get is
this list of the critters in the tank.

IMG_2854_zpsvkhlqutp.jpg

Not quite sure how accurate it is,
since I didn't see a sand tiger shark
and they're pretty hard to miss.
The hammerhead was a new addition,
and I gotta admit to a bit of...
uncertainty when it swam up to me.

Also, the manatees certainly aren't
sharing the same water as the
rest and the dolphins are penned
off so they don't kill the fish
or scuba-diving tourists.

Would I do it again?
Absolutely.
But was it as great as
the last two times.
Unfortunately, no.

Okay... swimming is over.
What's next?
Uh, oh... I've exercised...
gotta replace those lost calories.

After showering, dressing and
being disappointed by the video,
I headed over to Flavors From Fire
and, with some difficulty, did not
order the Blended Burger again,
and instead opted for the
Smoked Corned Beef
(with Crispy Potatoes, Cheese Curds,
Pickled Onions and Beer-Cheese Fondue.)

IMG_2855_zps4gkhbyrs.jpg

It was good, quite good actually,
but not in the same league
as their burger.

I wandered over to the
Cheese Studio and...
ordered everything.
I had the Braised Beef “Stroganoff”
(with Tiny Egg Noodles, Wild Mushrooms
and Boursin Garlic and Fine Herbs Cheese Sauce),
The Black Pepper Boursin Soufflé (with Fig Marmalade)
and the Maple Bourbon Cheesecake for dessert
(with Maple Bourbon Cream, Caramel and Pecan Crunch.)

IMG_2856_zps95xuhep4.jpg

I liked all of it but the beef dish
was the clear winner here.

Feeling a bit thirsty, I grabbed
a Tropical Mimosa from the
Shimmering Sips Mimosa Bar.

IMG_2857_zpsafq1iico.jpg

That was really good.
I'd definitely have that again.

And with that, my day
was pretty much done.
I snapped a couple of
shots on the way out.

DSC08200_zps0vryjha9.jpg

DSC08201b_zpsxcep26gt.jpg

And then decided that I'd
had enough and headed
for the bus stop.

I arrived at the stop at 8:35pm
and was on the bus 2 minutes later.
I was tired, so didn't complain
about the 2-minute wait,
although I'd be totally justified,
don't you think?

My early mornings and no
sleep over the past week
was catching up to me.
An early night was just the thing.

Wonder if anyone recognizes
that quote?
I cheated and used google because I was dying to know! Is it from M*A*S*H?

My selfie game needs work.
They look great...
I look... well, just look at the
titles of almost all my TRs...
The smiles are the most important part of any selfie! And all 3 of you nailed it :)

This is a great picture of you!!

Those that followed made me laugh :)

Usually, (I've done this two prior times)
when I do this dive, I interact with the
guests either in the observation area(s)
or in the Coral Reef restaurant.
I'm usually the only one who does it.
This time, it seemed like everyone was
doing it and so there were fewer
opportunities to interact.
Jerks. I hate when people cut in on the magic I want to make!

Well, did you?
Hmmmm....I quoted this, but have no idea what I was going to reply about!

Maybe that's a good thing.
How's your stomach?
Feeling better?

I feel great! :) Thanks for asking.

But seriously, what a bummer that you weren't able to get the video of your dive. I'm sure that makes such a great keepsake, and it's a shame they didn't make sure to get equal footage of everyone in the group.

I knew you would say that.
When I wrote it, I thought to
myself "I'm going to have to
hear about this from mustinjourney."

It's totally not irony...
But I couldn't think of
a better word at the time...

I still can't.
Coincidentally? Boring.
As chance would have it? Too wordy.
Providentially? Too high-falutin
'.

I'm assuming you were referring to getting into a shuttle to go look at a shuttle?

Technically, the words are homographs...but that's not a literary device. Homographs are commonly used in puns -- but I'm not quite sure it was used that way.

It's somewhat of a paradox I suppose. Taking a shuttle to go look at a shuttle.

But it doesn't quite fit that either.

Maybe it was a paradoxical, pun with foreshadowing?

This could be one of life's great mysteries.

But... But... I thought everything
was bigger in Texas.

Have I been lied to all these years?????

well -- the machines are larger. We just don't have as many.

actually -- they are probably the same size. I just couldn't resist.

But that list has the VAB at #7.
Still big, though.

YOU LIED!!!!

Doc answered it. :)

Now you expect me to go through a couple pages and search for his answer myself? That's going to take me like 30-45 seconds.

That's a tough one!
I thought that 50s was better, but...
I'm thinking it might just depend
on how hungry you are or daily
variations.
They were both very close to each

other in good flavour and juiciness.

I'm actually surprised by this. I wouldn't expect 50s prime time to have food that compares, since Homecomin' gets such high marks. I might have to eventually try the chicken at 50s (only been one time back in 2016 -- don't remember what I got though).

Just Friends, Sir

Wonder if anyone recognizes
that quote?
Anyways...

according to google, it's from M*A*S*H

My alarm woke me for good at 8:00am.
I didn't appreciate the intrusion.

Damn -- missed that question.

I'm not going to give you his address,
of course, but it was a fair distance
from WDW.
Then again, if they move it won't matter...
Well... If you really want to learn...
101 E Central Blvd, Orlando, FL 32801

I see what you did there.

"Of course, sir. We just need to
attach the external tank and
booster rockets and we'll have
you on your way in not time."

someone is using allusion now

and shoved my sunglasses w/case into
a front pocket, which looks very impressive,
let me tell ya.

Here's a photo I snapped when
I made some hot chocolate the
other day:

that's pretty cool

Yummm...
Ice cream is one of the
best things in life.
Possibly the best thing.

it is delicious -- especially with hot fudge. I'm drooling right now thinking about my upcoming beaches and cream reservation in less than two months.

My selfie game needs work.

https://www.cheatsheet.com/gear-style/how-to-take-a-good-selfie-model-worthy-tips.html/
I wouldn't need either the GPS
or the wallet since I was going
to a park.
I slapped on my MB and was
ready to go.

Foreshadowing this time???

Um... oh...
I'd dropped off my wallet...
and all my credit/debit cards
and cash...

Oddly enough, the gas station
wouldn't take a MB as payment.

This is unacceptable.

giphy.gif

I returned the car without
the full tank, but it only
cost me $10 more.
Probably about what fueling
up would've cost anyways.

damn -- so much for schadenfreude. I was hoping for major inconvenience.

giphy.gif

I hopped on a shuttle and
soon after arrived at Epcot.

damnit -- you were supposed to go to DAK.

It was Food & Wine of course,
(you have been paying attention, right?
Tell me if you have or haven't.)

what? Did you say something?

giphy.gif

I took the photo and promptly turned
around and marched out of the park.

and go to DAK?

I was doing Divequest that
afternoon.

damnit! I should have guessed that!

Usually I don't have to prove
to people that I'm certifiable,

source.gif

but I handed over my dive card
and told him my sizes.

so many jokes here. did you point to your bulging front pocket and say "huge?"

This time, it seemed like everyone was
doing it and so there were fewer
opportunities to interact.

maybe they are all readers of The Dis. You're clearly a trendsetter.

Did you just read that like this?

Still, there were kids who were
thrilled to
Play with the Disney
diver
which was cool for them
I'm
sure.

Well, did you?

I DID not.

Which translates to no
photos/screen grabs for you.

yeah -- I don't have to get sick.

Would I do it again?
Absolutely.
But was it as great as
the last two times.
Unfortunately, no.

any chance it was less enjoyable b/c it's not as new of an experience anymore?

arrived at the stop at 8:35pm
and was on the bus 2 minutes later.
I was tired, so didn't complain
about the 2-minute wait,
although I'd be totally justified,
don't you think?

I don't know how you have such good luck with the buses. I usually have pretty bad luck.

I've always had really good sleeps
at Disney.
Really? My first few Disney sleeps are generally horrible until I get to the point of exhaustion and they evolve into fairly okay.

101 E Central Blvd, Orlando, FL 32801
That's some sweet real estate right there.

Here's a photo I snapped when
I made some hot chocolate the
other day:
That's probably the most pkondz mug I've ever seen

Which is a dirty trick,
but adorable.
You call it a trick, I call it strategy.

Doc had found an ice cream
place that he thought I'd like.
Are there any ice cream places you don't like?

Ice cream is one of the
best things in life.
AGREED

Oddly enough, the gas station
wouldn't take a MB as payment.
Yet another obvious Disney budget cut

I really
need to take advantage
of the free Photopass...
Love your shirt! LOTR is my favorite story ever

This one tasted
like it was made of wood!
Well they're mass produced and kept under heat lamps, what did you expect??

My destination was here:
Stunning photo!

Usually I don't have to prove
to people that I'm certifiable,
Usually it's pretty obvious.

There were zero shots of me, so...
I didn't bother to buy a video
of other people swimming.
Okay that's super annoying! Sorry they didn't get much of you.

So the only photo you get is
this list of the critters in the tank.
Wow I didn't realize how many different types of rays there were!

the dolphins are penned
off so they don't kill the fish
or scuba-diving tourists.
In order of importance

instead opted for the
Smoked Corned Beef
That looks absolutely phenomenal!

What a fun full day! And how cool that you go to leave and hang out with Dis friends in their own space.

I cheated and used google because I was dying to know! Is it from M*A*S*H?
It is!
It's actually a pretty funny scene. :)

The smiles are the most important part of any selfie! And all 3 of you nailed it :)
Awww... Thanks. :)
This is a great picture of you!!
Thank you! :goodvibes
Those that followed made me laugh :)
Better than making you ill. ::yes::
Jerks. I hate when people cut in on the magic I want to make!
:lmao:
Hmmmm....I quoted this, but have no idea what I was going to reply about!
Close enough!
I feel great! :) Thanks for asking.
No lasting damage, then.

Good.
But seriously, what a bummer that you weren't able to get the video of your dive. I'm sure that makes such a great keepsake, and it's a shame they didn't make sure to get equal footage of everyone in the group.
I seriously considered asking
the videographer "Great video,
can you show me mine now?"

Decided to take Elsa's advice.

I'm assuming you were referring to getting into a shuttle to go look at a shuttle?
::yes::

And one I think we've already
spent far too long on.
It was just a short blurb,
and here we've gone down
this rabbit hole.

Isn't that ironic?

:duck:
well -- the machines are larger. We just don't have as many.

actually -- they are probably the same size. I just couldn't resist.
YOU LIED!!!!
It wasn't me! It was NASA!
Just like when they said they
landed on the moon!

:rolleyes1
Now you expect me to go through a couple pages and search for his answer myself? That's going to take me like 30-45 seconds.
Nah.
Long story, short.
If a flag is depicted vertically,
the rule is stars on the left.

Not sure why... but that's the rule.
I'm actually surprised by this. I wouldn't expect 50s prime time to have food that compares, since Homecomin' gets such high marks. I might have to eventually try the chicken at 50s (only been one time back in 2016 -- don't remember what I got though).
I was a bit surprised too.
I think... once you have good
chicken... there's almost a limit

as to how much better it can get.

according to google, it's from M*A*S*H
::yes::
I see what you did there.
Was wondering how many people
would Google that one. ;)

someone is using allusion now
The use of allusion is
merely an illusion.

Yes. Yes it is.
that's pretty cool
Kinda is. :)
it is delicious -- especially with hot fudge. I'm drooling right now thinking about my upcoming beaches and cream reservation in less than two months.
Looooove hot fudge sundaes.
I have them fairly often when
I go to an ice cream place.

Try the No Way José.
I highly recommend it.
It's a lot, though.
If you're not really hungry,

you can order a 1/2 size.
How to Take a Good Selfie: 7 Model-Worthy Tips to Know
None of that will help me.
Foreshadowing this time???
Well, you were so sad, last time...
Correct, sir.
damn -- so much for schadenfreude. I was hoping for major inconvenience.
Sorry to disappoint once again!
damnit -- you were supposed to go to DAK.
I forgot to read the memo.
what? Did you say something?
Who, me?
;)
so many jokes here. did you point to your bulging front pocket and say "huge?"
I didn't have to say anything.
maybe they are all readers of The Dis. You're clearly a trendsetter.
Yes. Yes I am.
Everyone should follow me.
And pay me for the privilege.
I DID not.
;)
yeah -- I don't have to get sick.
See? I'm always looking out
for my readers.

any chance it was less enjoyable b/c it's not as new of an experience anymore?
Yes and no.

Let's say your favourite ride is Test Track.
The first time you do it will be the best
time you ever do it, most likely.
But you keep doing it and keep loving it.
Except one time, the ride isn't working
right and you sit in the car as it
slowly moves along the track...

Kind of like that.
I had done the dive before,
so it wouldn't be as mind-blowing
as the first time...
But what I was most looking forward
to, didn't really materialize. Or at least

not as much as I thought it would.
I don't know how you have such good luck with the buses. I usually have pretty bad luck.
VIP bus pass.
back on top, baby!!!

Really? My first few Disney sleeps are generally horrible until I get to the point of exhaustion and they evolve into fairly okay.
Really?
Hmmm... then again,
I'm usually exhausted before

I get to Disney.
That's some sweet real estate right there.
Got yerself edumacated, didja?
That's probably the most pkondz mug I've ever seen
:lmao:
You call it a trick, I call it strategy.
I call it dirty pool.
Are there any ice cream places you don't like?
Oh, sure... um... hang on...

uh...

still thinking...
::yes::
Yet another obvious Disney budget cut
They should warn a fella!
Love your shirt! LOTR is my favorite story ever
:)
It's also Harley Davidson's
unofficial motto.

Well they're mass produced and kept under heat lamps, what did you expect??
I expect more of Disney. :snooty:
Stunning photo!
Thank you! :)
Usually it's pretty obvious.
Right?????
Okay that's super annoying! Sorry they didn't get much of you.
Much?
Zero!

I mean... there's like...
8 of us.
How hard is it to take

video of everyone???
Wow I didn't realize how many different types of rays there were!
::yes::
In order of importance
Fish are hard to find.
There'll always be tourists.

That looks absolutely phenomenal!
It was pretty good!
What a fun full day! And how cool that you go to leave and hang out with Dis friends in their own space.
::yes::
This was a much slower paced trip. :)

I'm usually exhausted before
I get to Disney.
I feel like you're generally just always exhausted.

I call it dirty pool.
I've been in a dirty pool.

Got a staph infection.

It's also Harley Davidson's
unofficial motto.
Huh I didn't know that!

I mean... there's like...
8 of us.
How hard is it to take

video of everyone???
Maybe you have Mike Wazowski syndrome. You're there, you're just consistently hidden by other stuff.

Wonder if anyone recognizes
that quote?
I do not and I even tried to look it up and no joy.

Curse of an aging shift-worker.
Good thing you didn't leave out the f.

My alarm woke me for good at 8:00am.
I didn't appreciate the intrusion.
Whelp, no matter, things to do!
People to see!
I know how you are at Disney and figured earlier, but then again, this was a non-Disney day and can't blame you for not wanting to get up early to come see ME.

I was going over to Doc (@docsoliday1 )
and Coni's house for a bit of visiting
and relaxing.
:yay:

I'm not going to give you his address,
of course, but it was a fair distance
from WDW.
Only about 40-45 minutes. We're about as far East as we can be and still be in Orlando. I wish we were closer some times....it's nice being this close though.

101 E Central Blvd, Orlando, FL 32801
No, no, no...that's the Holiday Inn, not the Soliday inn.
Sheesh, Canadians! :rotfl2:

"Of course, sir. We just need to
attach the external tank and
booster rockets and we'll have
you on your way in not time."
And then they have to take it to the VAB and then the very slow transport vehicle.

a front pocket, which looks very impressive,
let me tell ya.
If it's a front shirt pocket, I'm not thinking that's very impressive.

Knowing my... interest... in Ariel,
Also, knowing how you thought the mug I got for Elle was so cool.

he got me a mug that is black,
but when heated shows a scene.
I've already found something else Ariel for our next meetup....well...if you're crazy enough again.

The sun was in my eyes
Correct placement of the mirrors is everything.

and he sent his dog out
to distract me.
She is quite the distraction, isn't she. Hard to concentrate when she's licking your hand.

Which is a dirty trick,
but adorable.
Not true. I had just given her a bath a couple days earlier.
I know I'm biased, but adorable is true.

consternated he looked when
we saw it was closed!
Who closes shop on a Thursday??
I was consternated because I thought I had found something unique for you and they were CLOSED!!! The place I really wanted to take you was too far away and too time consuming. I know how much you like ice cream, so I wanted to something NOT ordinary.

And surprisingly they were open!
On a Thursday!
go figure...people eat ice cream on Thursday too.

I look... well, just look at the
titles of almost all my TRs...
At least it wasn't your border crossing look.

Thanks for the company, Doc.
I had a great time just hanging
out with you and the Mrs. :)
We did too. Any time. And I do mean any time...you're always welcome.

I have a few minutes
to spare and I really
need to take advantage
of the free Photopass...
It's funny how I take pictures now where before, I just walked by.

what I assumed was a snack.
Hey! A giant cookie! All right!
It's blue! I would think your experience with the key lime pie on a stick would have taught you.

Disney is really slipping with
their snacks. This one tasted
like it was made of wood!
I think your description of the key lime pie and apple (whatever it was) were worse.

No

Okay, I'll wait some more.
Good

No

How about now?
Not yet

Okay, fine!

Usually I don't have to prove
to people that I'm certifiable,
I can prove you're certifiable...you met me twice in as many days AND you had met me before.

Like most (if not all) of Disney,
photos are not allowed backstage.

Usually, (I've done this two prior times)
when I do this dive, I interact with the
guests either in the observation area(s)
or in the Coral Reef restaurant.
I knew you had once before, but not twice.

I'm usually the only one who does it.
This time, it seemed like everyone was
doing it and so there were fewer
opportunities to interact.
That sucks. Sorry.

Well, did you?
No, and to be honest, I'm not certain what you're trying to illustrate there. I re-read it several times.

After the dive, I had another
bit of disappointment.
They didn't let you keep the wetsuit?

And that's all the videographer shot.
There were zero shots of me, so...
And this is a problem for us, how?
:duck:

How's your stomach?
Feeling better?
Still where it was before.
Not really.

The hammerhead was a new addition,
and I gotta admit to a bit of...
uncertainty when it swam up to me.
I can understand that. Good thing they don't have barracuda in there.

and the dolphins are penned
off so they don't kill the fish
or scuba-diving tourists.
The fish I could understand, but I am unaware of dolphins attacking humans.

But was it as great as
the last two times.
Unfortunately, no.
Sorry, that stinks.

and instead opted for the
Smoked Corned Beef
(with Crispy Potatoes, Cheese Curds,
Pickled Onions and Beer-Cheese Fondue.)
I enjoyed this so much, I got it twice (or maybe thrice).

It was good, quite good actually,
but not in the same league
as their burger.
I think I avoided the burger because of spicy, but I'll take your word for it. I really, really enjoyed the smoked corned beef.

I had the Braised Beef “Stroganoff”
(with Tiny Egg Noodles, Wild Mushrooms
and Boursin Garlic and Fine Herbs Cheese Sauce),
We had the stroganoff, but not the others. I tried the cheesecake last year and did not like it at all. We enjoyed the stroganoff.

I liked all of it but the beef dish
was the clear winner here.
