Canadian Buffoon's Exhausted Vacation - Update 09/01 - New TR link!

Halloween party pooper.
You're the one who had to stop
at the Tangled Tinkle Spot.

Liesa poops at Halloween parties.
I don't mean just them, ALL the little details tossed around the park. The lights, fog, CM costumes, it all adds up, and a lot people just don't see it.
Ah, okay.
See your point.
It would take three guests

to pay for all of that.
And I think you mean there were for than 3 or 4 MILLION peope there. About 3.98 million to many!!
:sad2:
It is the Haunted Manion...
Ah, I see.
You were just trying to help
me join 999 others.
Well, see. There's your problem! If you'd learn to saunter all your needs to stretch might be alleviated. Then again, you might want to keep your linament handy.
You're the nurse.
I'll take it under advisement.

Derp. Thank you!!
:) No problem.
Oh anytime! (Got any more?)
;)

It looks like you had a fun evening on party night. I love all your pictures.
We met the gravediggers in 2018 and really liked the meet.
Nice you got to see Doc and Liesa, The pictures are funny with Liesa, love both your costumes!
I love the Halloween parade, so many good memories for me!

It looks like you had a fun evening on party night. I love all your pictures.
Thanks!
I always really enjoy that party. :)

We met the gravediggers in 2018 and really liked the meet.
I'm not surprised.
They're very good!

Nice you got to see Doc and Liesa, The pictures are funny with Liesa, love both your costumes!
Hers was really good!
And no one had trouble
figuring out who she was!
I love the Halloween parade, so many good memories for me!
:goodvibes

And welcome back!

Whoops, The End

Before we begin, a little housecleaning.
Most of you guessed, but a few were
stumped.
The costume I wore to MNSSHP
was the drunk pirate with the pigs
on POTC.

Okay... on with our semi-regular program.

There are two things that I’ve heard a lot
of people talk about over the years…
one is ‘Ohana, (especially the bread pudding)
and I’ve pretty much resigned myself that unless
there’s a DISmeet going on there, I’m not likely
to experience it.
Despite mixed reviews, at times,
I’d still like to try it some day.

The other is Hoop Dee Doo.
And that one I’ve never heard
a negative comment about.
Oh, I’m sure if you look long
and hard enough, you’ll find some
curmudgeon… wait…
I am a curmudgeon!...

Sorry… as it was saying...
You’ll find some curmudgeon who
thinks the show’s too loud or too
boisterous or too… whatever.
I’ve only heard good things about
the food too. And again, I suppose
that’s a matter of taste… but I like
fried chicken! And ribs!

And for some reason, while I don’t feel
comfortable about ‘Ohana as a solo traveler,
I have no such compunction with Hoop.

So I deecided to doo it.
And I’m glad I did!

I’ll be honest, though… I don’t know
how to get there.
And I was actually okay with that.
I love taking the boats at Disney,
so while I’m sure there’s a bus that’ll take
you there from any of the parks…
I wanted to arrive by water.

So that’s what I did.

Is it longer to take a bus to WL and then
a boat to Fort Wilderness, than to just
take a bus straight from the park?

Yes. I’m sure it is. But whatever.

I took a boat. And I’m quite happy with
my decision. I'm sure it's more scenic.

I arrived at Fort Wilderness with plenty
of time to spare… by design.
I wanted to assure myself of the best
table possible.
I already had a category 1 reservation, but…
There’s category 1 and there’s category one!

I sidled up to the seating podium and waited.
Another group joined me simultaneously.
As others came up to join the queue,
I worried a bit that they might try to jump the line on me.
(We were standing on opposite sides.)
But one of the group commented that
“He’s first, then it’s us.”

(Disclaimer… I may have that backwards.
It may be that they were first… in that case,
they said the opposite, but still let it be known
that I was before anyone else. I appreciated that.)

Soon, a couple of CMs showed up to man the booth.
Or woman the booth... or whatever I'm supposed
to say these days.
I presented my ticket and was assigned a table.
I still had quite a bit of time before the doors
would open, so I wandered around.

IMG_3002_zpsow6ujpce.jpg

IMG_2999_zpshm20oyva.jpg

Folks? I didn’t take a photo of it, but…
GET THERE EARLY.

The line for the podium stretched from there,
clear across to Tampa… and possibly
into the Gulf of Mexico.

Okay. I’m exaggerating. It didn’t go into the water.
It probably curved and followed the shoreline.

Eventually, the doors opened and I hung back a bit
to let some of the crowd dissipate.
No need to hurry now, all the tables are assigned,
the rush was earlier, folks.

IMG_3009_zpsplw79sjb.jpg

I was led to my table where a very nice server
(whose name I neglected to note)
asked me what I’d like to drink.
Guess what I ordered! Guess!

Yeah, I have no idea either.
I know it was something with alcohol
(included in the price of the meal!
Best deal at Disney? Perhaps?)
but not what.
Maybe a glass of wine?
Probably the Sangria.
Either way… white, not red.
Or whatever I'm supposed
to say these days.

Soon food started arriving,
starting with a very tasty salad.
Yes... salad.
I know I mentioned chicken
and ribs, but... dang that salad
was good!

Soon the players came out and
the show began.

IMG_3014_zpshnqb3own.jpg

If you've never seen it,
they perform feets of magic
and levitation.

IMG_3011_zps0ubefjj5.jpg

See? Her feets are off the floor.
Magic!
(Disclaimer, the previous comment
may be completely false.)

While they performed, I kept
eating all the good things.
I'm not a cornbread kind of guy,
but even I was blown away
by how good that was!
I had to hold myself back
for the stars of the show, though.

No, not the stars of the show on stage,
but the ones on the table...

IMG_3016_zpsnkjs4y32.jpg

The chicken and ribs!

And... to be perfectly frank,
if I had to rate the food,
(and I'm going to, because
this is my TR.)
I'd have to put the chicken
as the best, then the salad
(yeah I really liked it),
then the cornbread and
finally the ribs.
(The mashed potatoes were
fine, but... nothing special and
I never touched the beans,
despite their magical properties.)

I'm not saying the ribs weren't good...
It's just the others were superior.

And how was my seat? Was I happy
with my table location?
Well, I'll let you decide.
These two photos were taken from my
seat and not with a zoom lens.

IMG_3010_zpsafzalbwg.jpg

IMG_3017_zpsumudn6pp.jpg

Quick comment.
While the banjo player was
very animated and fun,
the piano player was all
business and never turned
nor smiled once during the
entire performance.
But he was talented... so I'll
give him a pass.

Okay. Show's over.
Let's get a nice closing
shot of the real stars of
the show!

IMG_3013_zpsh1ipbtec.jpg

Just kidding.
This was:

IMG_3018_zpssyewxnmj.jpg

Hello beautiful.

But you know what the only
thing wrong was about that
strawberry shortcake?

I was too full to finish it!!!

The show finished and the
performers took one last bow.
The audience applauded and
began to gather their things to leave.
I took one last sip to finish
my drink and picked up my
phone to jot down a few notes.
I was at this task for possibly
a minute, probably less, when
a security guard came up to
me and said:
"You'll have to leave. The show's over."
I was... well, a bit shocked that
this happened.
1. It's Disney... I'm more used to a
more gentle request to leave.
A slow funneling out of guests.
2. The show had just ended.
It's not like I was sitting there
for 30 minutes in an empty hall.

Indeed, I looked around and there
were several other tables with
patrons still enjoying their drinks
as well as guests waiting their
turns to pose with the cast.
The security guard did not
speak to anyone else about leaving.
At least not while I was there,
that I noticed.

I found it both odd and...
frankly, quite insulting.

I got up and left.

I decided to forget the last
moment and dwell instead
upon the fun time I'd had
and the delicious food
I'd consumed.

And with a semi-contented burp,
I headed out into the night.

And with that oh-so-tender
moment resonating in your
thoughts, it is with that,
I bring this TR to a merciful end.

My checkout the next day was
uneventful as was my ride
to MCO and my flight home.
As I traveled northwards
and westwards, I pondered
the setting sun and thought...

When will I be able to go back???

It was fun and I got better at guessing at the end.
I absolutely loved the Hoop De Doo review when I went to Disney. Haven't done it in a while but it is a fun dinner.

The show finished and the
performers took one last bow.
The audience applauded and

There was a show on the Dis about this a few weeks ago. The same thing happened to Sean and his family on Christmas Eve, only it seriously escalated. This guy seems to thrive on harassing patrons.

Thanks for sharing your report, I’ve enjoyed following along and getting to know you :)

Another fun trippie! Thank you for taking us along🤗

P.S. Not very Disney-esque of that security guard. Not cool. Your attitude, however, STELLAR and admirable!

Dawn

The other is Hoop Dee Doo.
And that one I’ve never heard
a negative comment about.
Oh, I’m sure if you look long

 curmudgeon.

Maybe, maybe not. I'm not sure where the hoop dee doo is, but going to trails end for breakfast requires two buses. Bus to resort and then another bus to trails end.

I already had a category 1 reservation, but…
There’s category 1 and there’s category one!
Have to figure out what category 1 is.

The line for the podium stretched from there,
clear across to Tampa… and possibly
into the Gulf of Mexico.
It could have. The gulf is pretty shallow for the first 100 yards or so.

Yes... salad.
Wait, what??????
Salad????
AKA rabbit food?

Not sure I can be your friend any more
Man card?

See? Her feets are off the floor.
Magic!
That thar is some amazin magic Jethro.

(Disclaimer, the previous comment
may be completely false.)
Erp, maybe not.

I'd have to put the chicken
as the best
Better than 50s prime time? Know you love the chicken there

And how was my seat? Was I happy
with my table location?
Well, I'll let you decide.
These two photos were taken from my
seat and not with a zoom lens.
Well, blew that guess. So the VIP seating card too, eh?

I was too full to finish it!!!
Sacrilege! That is not okay. Take it with you for breakfast, silly! It's got fruit, so breakfast worthy.

I was at this task for possibly
a minute, probably less, when
a security guard came up to
me and said:
"You'll have to leave. The show's over."
I'm sure if there's another show, but still
<Jar jar>How wude

I probably would not have handled as well as you. Some CMs are not at all Disney like and I tend to call them out.

When will I be able to go back???
Soon, I hope.

Thanks for another great report! Weird about that security guard...
Can’t wait for the next one- whenever it may be!

of people talk about over the years…
one is ‘Ohana, (especially the bread pudding)
and I’ve pretty much resigned myself that unless

YAY MANNERS

The line for the podium stretched from there,
clear across to Tampa… and possibly
into the Gulf of Mexico.
So how early were you there? We're going for the first time in May and I want a good seat!

No, not the stars of the show on stage,
but the ones on the table...
Oh. I didn't anticipate them being served in literal buckets.

But it works.

These two photos were taken from my
seat and not with a zoom lens
Okay definitely getting there early.

I was too full to finish it!!!
468862

I found it both odd and...
frankly, quite insulting.
I saw a PP mention it, but did you see the whole debacle with the Dis podcaster who had the same thing happen? I think there's just a rude guard there. We will be on high alert.

When will I be able to go back???
Ah, the question in every Diser's heart.

But for real- any more trips coming up??

There are two things that I’ve heard a lot

there’s a DISmeet going on there, I’m not likely

I'm not sure if I mentioned it before but you can go to Tambu lounge and get the potstickers, wings and bread pudding along with a beverage of your choice. All the best parts of an Ohana dinner for a fraction of the cost. :)
I took a boat. And I’m quite happy with
my decision. I'm sure it's more scenic.

I arrived at Fort Wilderness with plenty
of time to spare… by design.
I wanted to assure myself of the best

I already had a category 1 reservation, but…

Boat travel is the best travel and it sounds like you were seated very close by where Bill and I were in July.
eah, I have no idea either.
I know it was something with alcohol
(included in the price of the meal!
Best deal at Disney? Perhaps?)
but not what.
Maybe a glass of wine?
Probably the Sangria.
Either way… white, not red.
Or whatever I'm supposed
to say these days.
I had the white sangria which was nice, refreshing and plentiful.
Soon food started arriving,
starting with a very tasty salad.
Yes... salad.
I know I mentioned chicken
and ribs, but... dang that salad
was good!
I loved that salad!!
And how was my seat? Was I happy
with my table location?
Well, I'll let you decide.
These two photos were taken from my
seat and not with a zoom lens.
A perfect seat!
But you know what the only
thing wrong was about that
strawberry shortcake?
What?? No separate dessert stomach?? I always think that would come in very handy.....
I took one last sip to finish
my drink and picked up my
phone to jot down a few notes.
I was at this task for possibly
a minute, probably less, when
a security guard came up to
me and said:
"You'll have to leave. The show's over."

Your experience was exactly like Sean from the Dis on Christmas Eve. I am so sorry that happened to you. You were very Canadian about it all.
Thanks everyone for reading
and joining me on my retelling
of my journey.
Without you guys... this wouldn't
be worth doing.
Your comments and questions
are all very much appreciated!
Thanks for the wonderful anecdotes, commentary and pictures. It has been a pleasure reading along. One day I hope our trips overlap! :)

one is ‘Ohana, (especially the bread pudding)

oo that bread pudding

The other is Hoop Dee Doo.

Yess!

So I deecided to doo it.
And I’m glad I did!

I'm glad you did too!

Is it longer to take a bus to WL and then
a boat to Fort Wilderness, than to just
take a bus straight from the park?

Probably not actually. If you take a bus (or come by your own car), you have to get off at the front and take the internal buses to Pioneer Hall so it takes forever and isn't nearly as fun.

But one of the group commented that
“He’s first, then it’s us.”

Wow! I didn't know this type of people still existed!

Folks? I didn’t take a photo of it, but…
GET THERE EARLY.

Yeah that line does get crazy! They told us though that you table is assigned when you book your reservation so the closest you book to 180 days out, the better your table. Not sure if that's true though!

dang that salad
was good!

I love that salad (and I don't say that about too many salads lol)

But you know what the only
thing wrong was about that
strawberry shortcake?

I was too full to finish it!!!

Story of my life.

I was at this task for possibly
a minute, probably less, when
a security guard came up to
me and said:
"You'll have to leave. The show's over."

Wow! I saw a few others mention it but there was literally just a Dis podcast where this happened to Sean on Christmas eve and escalated! I bet it was the same security guard.

I’m so glad you went to Hoop de doo. We have been twice and really enjoyed it each time. I loved the corn bread and the dessert is so yummy.
That was weird at the end with the security guard. I would have been annoyed as well.
We find taking the boat from MK is super easy when heading to FW
If you get a chance in the future it is fun to tour the horse barns over there, we always enjoy this.
I liked the contest and spent way to much time trying to find your Easter eggs, I did find most of them, proud of myself!
I hope you get back to Disney soon, I really enjoy your reports!

I did that.
(Well, I didn't inhale... wait...
didn't someone say that already?)
Glad it was normal.
I got a bit surprised and concerned
at the small fire, but it went

out eventually, so I relaxed.

They usually do go out eventually, we only recommend worrying if it spreads to your house.

Hope that works out for you.
But... if you haven't been in
a while, even 9 days will probably

not be enough.

I don't think I could swing more than that unfortunatly.

What a great way to end your trip! I love HDDR! We went in 2015 and have another reservation for our July trip since Mike has never been.

I'm trying to remember your trip dates because @Sean Faulk had the same thing happen to him with a security guard on Christmas Eve. I'm sure it was the same guy and I really hope they fired him. I can find the link to the show where he talks about it if you want, but suffice to say, the Security Guard approached him and his family right after the show ended and basically said the same thing to them. But then things got really out of hand. Very interesting that I have never heard a story like that and now I'm hearing it from two people within a month. It kind of makes me nervous to gp back to HDDR but like I said, I'm really hoping he's gone since the Sean incident.

So when is your next trip??? I can't wait to suck at your game again! 🤪

Here's the link to the DisUnplugged episode right where they start talking about what happened to Sean...

(edited to say-if it starts at the beginning, skip to 59 minutes because that's around when they start)

Guess what I ordered! Guess!

Yeah, I have no idea either.
I'm not a big sangria drinker, and they had no Miller Lite, so I remember going with the Yuengling Beer when I was there in May. I think Bud Light may have been the other option??

These two photos were taken from my
seat and not with a zoom lens.
Perfect seats!!!

YUM. They delivered me one of my very own with a candle in it, and everyone sang Happy Birthday to me :) Side note: we also requested the Mac 'n Cheese (even though it isn't on the menu sign) and it was DELICIOUS!!!

I found it both odd and...
frankly, quite insulting.

I got up and left.
I would have been insulted, too. Very strange indeed.

This is a gorgeous picture!

Thanks for sharing your trip with us! The contest was super fun :) Glad I was able to keep up!
