Canadian Buffoon's Semi-EPIC Vacation - 10/29 - Link to new TR!

Grrr my quote box isn't responding to my commands :sad2: And I had such great replies too :headache:

To your 30 years younger comment... while I will happily take the compliment, you probably dodged a bullet there :rotfl2:

What a fun trip!!!
We were there May 19-26... HOT! But for the first time in 22 consecutive years going, we had zero rain. So bizarre!

Can't wait to read more!
Dawn

Apologies in advance.
This is not a short update.

Ugh. And I'm so far behind again!

When we last left our
dynamic duo,

This makes me think of that music, it kind of sounds spinny, you know, duna-na-na-na-na duna-na-na-na-na Na!

When a couple of minutes passed by
and it still said "2:46", I figured out
that it wasn't coming for half an hour

Well that's kinda sucky.

Is there anyone who isn't
affected on some level by that
first view of the castle?

I guess I am affected by it. I keep thinking, "why is that thing so garishly huge?" :confused3

I've never been a big fan of parades.
But this one is just so over the top
with the colours and designs of the
costumes and floats...

I love it!

I'm more of a band in a parade kinda person. Strage women laying in pon....er wait, wrong reference. Strange women waving from floats is not really my thing.

Not only are we on a first name basis,
but we can tell each other anything.

:sad2: You have such delusions!

"It is I! Prince Charming!
I am the owner of the smelly glove!
I fell in a pig's trough this morning
and soiled it thusly!
My bride, the Princess Cinderella,
smelleth not!"

Methinks he doth protest too much.

Me thinks you have a wild imagination!

Shortly after, dancers celebrating
gay pride came by.
I could be wrong about that.
But they were pretty flamboyant.

Actually their colors are more reflective of Trans Pride. Gay Pride would have more red, yellow, green, and orange.

Sure, my kid wasn't too happy
about it, but she'll get over it
when Ariel brings her fresh
lobster and stuff.

Ariel and I are good now,
I think.
I just have to make sure
I introduce her to my
other kid some day.

You just missed the opportunity.

"Gotta air out the ol'
armpits! Gets sweaty under
there in the Florida heat!"

Only you would see Wendy in the "you can fly" pose and think that!

And of course, as soon
as I took that picture and
put the camera down...
it breathed fire.

Oh well.

Pictures or it didnt happen!

Even though I didn't get it
until later, I already had a
sneaking suspicion that I'd
be getting an AP.
So what do AP-ers do?
PP!
And get their photos taken, too!

Funny thing....I get tons of PP pics in WDW, but when we got SWGE pics during the previews, I was so upset because when everyone else's photos appeared, mine weren't in my account. Finally I called the Disneyland Photopass people to see what the problem was. I had only ever linked ride photos to my account, I'd never taken any PP at DL since my pass was replaced a couple years ago. They linked my pass and boom! All 16 photos were there!

She was over-the-top excited
about riding it.
She wouldn't. Shut. Up!
Finally, we got on the ride
and I thought for sure she'd
pipe down.

Nope!

So as the ride started,
I reached over and choked
her until she stopped talking.

Interesting, I supposed because your hands are technically not around her neck they let it go, but when I put my hands around Naked Jim's neck on Guardians, the picture got deleted for depicting violence!

In a very short time, we were on
the ride.
I remember when you'd wait an hour
or more for this ride.
Or have to rope drop it.
Not anymore.
Or maybe we just got lucky.

When they reimagined Fantasyland, supposedly they doubled the capacity of the ride. They also went to a different sort of queue system as well. At least that's what I read on the interwebs.

It was time for our second FP
of the day. Any guesses where?
I'll give you a hint:
It was 7DMT.

I'm going to go out on a limb and say 7DMT.

Of course, when at Tony's,
one must order the
spaghetti with meatballs.
One simply... must.

So why aren't you hating on Tony's for only giving you two meatballs?

You just never know
where your next favourite
thing will come from.
Take chances and try new
things, people.

That's why I'm always willing to at least try something. Unless it has coconut.

We skipped over to HM,
where I had not heard that
they were taking photos now.
Which explains why I look
like a moron and

It seems that none of those rides ever capture my photos. Maybe next trip I'll use a new band.

So... up here, we have snow on
the ground for almost half the year.
When a goldfish dies, and you have
an overly sensitive kid who won't
let it be "buried at sea" or a hamster
bites the biscuit and she refuses to let
Hammie go to that dumpster in
the sky...
Your freezer becomes a temporary morgue.
Last rites included for an extra fee.

Wow. I never would have thought about the logistics of that. Then again another DIS friend has a wife who works in a mortuary in upstate New York. He said that April is their busy time because the ground finally thaws and they can bury people again. We don't have that problem in Southern California!

We had a great skipper.
She even made me the captain!
Nope. Not kidding.
Then she told me that if the
boat sinks, the skipper skips out
and the captain goes down
with the ship.

Dang it!!!

It seems the Jungle Cruise skippers really like messing with you.

No Pooh for us.
Kinda like when I cross a border.

You had to go there. :sad2:

We arrived at the resort at 10:15pm.
We got off at the first stop,
which was only a minute walk
from the main building,
which in turn was only a minute
walk to our own building.
We were in building 64, room 6433.

Nice. No death march down a long hallway for you!

Doc had baked us a cheesecake
and had given me some of what
he described as "the best bacon
you'll ever eat."

Wow breakfast of champions right there.

Did you see it
in this chapter?

Yes I did. Took me about three times of looking to get it, but I knew he had to be in the parade!

Ugh. And I'm so far behind again!
And now you're almost caught up. :)
This makes me think of that music, it kind of sounds spinny, you know, duna-na-na-na-na duna-na-na-na-na Na!
::yes::
that's it!!
Well that's kinda sucky.
It wasn't ideal.
I polished up my
VIP bus pass later.
I guess I am affected by it. I keep thinking, "why is that thing so garishly huge?" :confused3
West coast castle snob!
I on the other hand...
am East coast over-compensating!
I'm more of a band in a parade kinda person.
Yes you are!
I think I saw on FB
that you were in one

recently?
Strage women laying in pon....er wait, wrong reference
Image result for monty python and the holy grail strange women ponds
Strange women waving from floats is not really my thing.
If she's a hot little redhead...
:sad2: You have such delusions!
I told you, I'm over-compensating!

Everything was 100%
as described.

:rolleyes1
Me thinks you have a wild imagination!
Actually their colors are more reflective of Trans Pride. Gay Pride would have more red, yellow, green, and orange.
Huh!
Well, I did say I could
be wrong!

(Thanks Alison! :))
You just missed the opportunity.
Oh, I did?
Only you would see Wendy in the "you can fly" pose and think that!
Nah. It was the heat.
Pictures or it didnt happen!
See Liesa's TR!
Huh! I had no idea you
could do that!
Call them for missing photos,
I mean.

Glad they found yours. :)
Interesting, I supposed because your hands are technically not around her neck they let it go, but when I put my hands around Naked Jim's neck on Guardians, the picture got deleted for depicting violence!
No. It's because I'm Canadian.
"He's harmless. They don't even
own guns up there!"
When they reimagined Fantasyland, supposedly they doubled the capacity of the ride. They also went to a different sort of queue system as well. At least that's what I read on the interwebs.
Yeah, it's quite different now.
I'm going to go out on a limb and say 7DMT.
You speak the truth!
So why aren't you hating on Tony's for only giving you two meatballs?
I was wondering if anyone would
point that out.
I guess with Disney... I expect
to get smaller portions.
With an Italian restaurant...

I don't.
That's why I'm always willing to at least try something. Unless it has coconut.
I will too.
Most things, anyways.

It seems that none of those rides ever capture my photos. Maybe next trip I'll use a new band.
I always scan my band too,
just in case.
Although in HM's case, you can't.
Wow. I never would have thought about the logistics of that. Then again another DIS friend has a wife who works in a mortuary in upstate New York. He said that April is their busy time because the ground finally thaws and they can bury people again. We don't have that problem in Southern California!
I'm not surprised.
I had an aunt pass away
a couple years ago.
She died in winter and
was buried in the spring.
Mind you she was cremated,
so she was in an urn the

whole time anyway.
It seems the Jungle Cruise skippers really like messing with you.
And I love it. :)
You had to go there. :sad2:
Did you expect any less???
Nice. No death march down a long hallway for you!
Nope!
Wow breakfast of champions right there.
::yes::
es I did. Took me about three times of looking to get it, but I knew he had to be in the parade!
He loves the parade too.

Even though the alarm
rang at a reasonable 7am,
(reasonable for Disney, at least)
getting up this morning
was a bit of a struggle.
I guess that'll happen when
you essentially skip a night
of sleep.

I can't do that any more. :sad2:

It took us a bit, but we finally
figured out after this, that the
main bus stop was the last
stop on the OKW loop.
So if you wanted to make
sure you were getting on the bus,
you had to go to the first stop
which was a stone's throw away.

Our bus stop was the first one. We only used it once to get home, but it would have been very useful gad we been there longer.

I do know that there was
a lot of First Order marching
going on, so... maybe that was it?

They marched every hour. I can't remember if it was on the half or the hour.

Unfortunately, this wasn't
her first time playing the game
and as soon as I turned to say
something to Elle, she scooted
past me and resumed her
battle cry of: "My daughter. My daughter."

Oh well.
Two people weren't going to impact
my time in line.
Just the principal of the thing.

Yeah, back to Mark's report. People suck.

All of a sudden, the little boy,
who'd understood faux Rod's
warning, was seen hurriedly
exiting the ride, followed by
his bemused father. His slightly
older sister followed shortly
after in their wake.

It turned out that maybe they
shouldn't have been the only
ones to get off the ride.
Once the elevator entered
the shaft and began it's
fatal (not really) plunge
to Earth, a little girl sitting
behind us started to
scream and cry.

I remember when they had Alien Encounter and someone took their too young kid on it. Have some sensitivity for your kids folks, or at least the rest of us!

Hey! Did I mention that
it was DHS's 30th anniversary!
It was only 10:00am, one hour
after park opening, and the
standby line was already
up to 55 minutes!
Elle said she wanted to
go anyway, and we had time...
So in line, we got.

Well I guess if its the two of you and you are sharing the experience. Fran can't do this one so if I do t have a FP, I do single rider. I'm guessing your FP are later at another park

or Elle that pointed that
our names were on the
posters.
I caught hers before it changed,
but missed out on mine.
Oh well.

I guess I need to start using the new MB they give me rather than my coveted old Marie band.

I love the design of Woody's Lunchbox.
It's... well... a lunchbox!
The thermos holds up one
side of the lunchbox,
while a tinker toy holds up the other.
The kitchen is inside Tupperware
containers, and Babybel cheese,
carrots, celery and animal cookies
make up the contents of Andy's lunch.

I didnt even notice that!

Obviously, Babybel has paid
Disney a schwack of cash for
advertising.
I'm okay with that, actually.

Evidently! I've seen the stuff in the previews.

Elle got her food and I
got a Mystic Punch.
My punch was good,
but Elle loved her lunch!
For her, Tony's was the best meal,
but this one was probably
a close second or third. :)

Huh. Good to know. We often have grilled cheese and tomato soup for dinner.

We figured the only way to lose them
was by going off planet.

They going to Batuu, it is quite different.

"You have to have a Mickey Ice Cream!"
And I have.
But it was only recently, that I became
aware that there was also a
Mickey Ice Cream Sandwich.
I'd never had one, and this had
to be rectified.

This is totally legit. You don't have to have a Mickey Bar. I like the ice cream sandwiches much better.

I love how this room has
the guitar columns.

I never noticed this! Thanks for pointing it out!

Yeah... I JUST wrote about this on my TR. It was officially the hottest recorded May in over 100 years.

I think we actually had the coldest May. Every day was overcast, and we had cold days every day. Usually by this point we are wearing capris and tanks, I am still wearing t-shirts and long pants.

I can't do that any more. :sad2:
I have to...
but it's getting harder.

Our bus stop was the first one. We only used it once to get home, but it would have been very useful gad we been there longer.
I think we mostly used
the first stop from
then on.
They marched every hour. I can't remember if it was on the half or the hour.
I thought I heard them
more than once.

Yeah, back to Mark's report. People suck.
:rolleyes1
I remember when they had Alien Encounter and someone took their too young kid on it. Have some sensitivity for your kids folks, or at least the rest of us!
That one I give the benefit
of the doubt to.
It's MK,
Parents don't expect

to be terrified there.
Well I guess if its the two of you and you are sharing the experience. Fran can't do this one so if I do t have a FP, I do single rider. I'm guessing your FP are later at another park
Correct.
I guess I need to start using the new MB they give me rather than my coveted old Marie band.
Oh? It matters?
(I have no clue)

I didnt even notice that!
We sat and ate
right beside it.
Plenty of time to
notice it all.
I think Elle pointed

it out first. :)
Evidently! I've seen the stuff in the previews.
Me too.
Huh. Good to know. We often have grilled cheese and tomato soup for dinner.
Such a good combination.
They going to Batuu, it is quite different.
Different from what?
This is totally legit. You don't have to have a Mickey Bar. I like the ice cream sandwiches much better.
Need to test this. ;)
I never noticed this! Thanks for pointing it out!

you don't go through that room.

Define cold

So you may have noticed in my replies to the DDC thread or a couple other trip reports that after my business trip to Houston I struggled to catch up with work and fell way behind on my DIS reading. Your TR has that extra layer of complication because I can’t see your pictures at work (during lunch break of course) so I have to read when I have time at home.

Anyway, the good news is that I have finally caught up and of course enjoyed reading as always.
The bad news is that I’ve given up any hope of multi quoting and commenting, especially if I’m going to catch up on your other TR.

I’ll be in the corner wearing my cone of shame.

So you may have noticed in my replies to the DDC thread or a couple other trip reports that after my business trip to Houston I struggled to catch up with work and fell way behind on my DIS reading.
::yes::
I saw that.
And I get it.
I'm having trouble keeping up,
and I didn't go to Houston!

(Or anywhere else.)
Your TR has that extra layer of complication because I can’t see your pictures at work (during lunch break of course) so I have to read when I have time at home.
Oh, I totally get this.
I'm not seeing a lot of
photos at work anymore either.
They just recently blocked all
photo sharing sites
(flikr, photobucket, smugmug, etc)
so I'm not seeing photos on

several threads anymore.
Anyway, the good news is that I have finally caught up and of course enjoyed reading as always.
:) Glad you enjoyed it!
The bad news is that I’ve given up any hope of multi quoting and commenting, especially if I’m going to catch up on your other TR.
 Totally get it.
And no worries.
No pressure here!
Multi-quote, no-quote...

whatever!
Do whatever makes you smile. :)
I’ll be in the corner wearing my cone of shame.
Nah. It's all good.
You can come out and play
any time.

I remember one time,
this man came up and I
got in his way.
He literally shoved me
to the side and angrily
growled that his family
was up ahead (which I'm
sure they were.)

Ya gotta choose your battles.

That's scary and not nice at all. Don't they know they're in Disney?

Love it in there.
I want to just look around
in the queue for a while,

but the line keeps moving!

But then again the line moving is a good thing.

Um... well....
She's not.
She was screaming and
laughing and having

a great time. :goodvibes

She does look like she's having a blast. My ride picture usually show me with a big smile on my face.

Well, according to Elle,
she'll like it. :)

I'll pass that along to her when she gets up, which should be some time after noon.

I really am not sure
which one I prefer.

I need more testing.

That is a dilemma. We just finished off a box of the Mickey Ice Cream bars so I'm craving the sandwich now. Is it anything like the Klondike ice cream sandwiches? I really like those too.

And now you're almost caught up. :)

Well here. I still have at least five or more to catch up on!

Yes you are!
I think I saw on FB
that you were in one
recently?

I will have an IRL update with that soon.

I'm starting to think this may be a better idea than our current form of government.

I told you, I'm over-compensating!

Everything was 100%
as described.

:rolleyes1

Huh!
Well, I did say I could
be wrong!

I just learned this last year as the boyfriend of our conductor is trans.

Huh! I had no idea you
could do that!
Call them for missing photos,
I mean.
Glad they found yours. :)

I've had other friends who have called with less success. Mine was just my own stupidity.

No. It's because I'm Canadian.
"He's harmless. They don't even
own guns up there!"

I guess Disney must know how many guns we own. :rolleyes1

I was wondering if anyone would

I'm not sure but it's the only reason I can think of that the pictures aren't showing up on my account. There may be new technology in the new bands that isn't in the one I like which is several years old.

Different from what?

Everything in Disney. It's really pretty cool. It's like it's a whole different planet.

Well if you only do single rider or FP,
you don't go through that room.

That would explain it. I don't think I've ever waited in line for that ride.

Define cold

Well for us it meant that we didnt get above 70 for the entire month. :lmao:

I'm sad to admit that this is my first time reading a trip report, but I'm glad I took the time to read this one, it was highly entertaining. I'm about to make some coffee and move on to "Chapter 2".

My husband is from Calgary (just recently married). We're currently working on the visa process to bring him to the States and I'm planning a trip to WDW in late 2020 as a "thank you for moving so that I didn't have to move" gift. (I would have moved, I love Calgary. But I also love SoCal). Anyway, I thoroughly enjoyed reading a trip report from a Canadian. And as someone who has traveled to and around Canada many, many times, I really appreciated all of the references.

Oh, and my husband a WestJet flight attendant for 10 years and we have many friends who still are FAs for WestJet, so I also enjoyed all of the flight details.

Thanks for sharing your trip with us and for opening my eyes to the fun had in the "Trip Reports" section. :)

Even though the alarm
rang at a reasonable 7am,
(reasonable for Disney, at least)
getting up this morning
was a bit of a struggle.
I guess that'll happen when
you essentially skip a night
of sleep.
But once I got going,
the excitement of going
to a park got the ol'
adrenaline pumping
and all was well.
No sleep necessary at Disney!
The next bus arrived a few minutes
ahead of its scheduled time at 8:30am.
I presume since everyone had
already caught the earlier bus,
it had fewer guests to load
and made up time that way.
The bus loops are the worst
I'm particularly pleased
with this shot I took of it.
Not one I've seen before
anyway.
I like this one!
Now, I don't have a problem
with letting a parent and child
go through.
I've been there.
Kids gotta go to the bathroom
at the worst possible times.
But when it's obviously
a ploy just to cut through
the line... I get annoyed.
If you're comfortable enough
about letting your child go
ahead of you, unsupervised...
Then you're comfortable
enough to have them wait
for you until you get there.
What is wrong with some people? So entitled!
It turned out that maybe they
shouldn't have been the only
ones to get off the ride.
Once the elevator entered
the shaft and began it's
fatal (not really) plunge
to Earth, a little girl sitting
behind us started to
scream and cry.
Everyone on the ride
knew that she wasn't
overly excited about it.
Well... not in a good way.
Poor thing!
Terrifying.
Who in their right minds
would subject themselves
to that more than once????

So we went and rode it again.
Me, me! Love ToT!
If I was doing this solo,
I'd either FP it, single rider it,
or skip it.
But this was Elle's party
so I relaxed and passed
the time by chatting
and checking the app
for the other ride times
to give us an idea of what
might be available afterwards.
I don't wait more than 20 minutes for anything so I am impressed by your fortitude.
I fairly obviously photoshopped
her name in there.
That's because I don't post
her real name.
But it was there. :)

It took exactly 55 minutes
to arrive at the ride platform.
So the posted wait time
was accurate.

When we were in the
sound studio, the CM said.
"Congrats on those back stage passes.
I've literally never seen that before."
:lmao:
I love those posters.
Elle got her food and I

He also snapped something
about his family being up ahead.
I recognized two things.
1. A stressed out Dad.
2. A moron.

And I realized two things.
1. He was stressed, so best
stay out of his way.
2. You can't reason with
a moron, so... best stay

out of his way.
But then again the line moving is a good thing.
True!
She does look like she's having a blast. My ride picture usually show me with a big smile on my face.
:goodvibes
I'll pass that along to her when she gets up, which should be some time after noon.
 I'm familiar with the type.
That is a dilemma. We just finished off a box of the Mickey Ice Cream bars so I'm craving the sandwich now. Is it anything like the Klondike ice cream sandwiches? I really like those too.
Yes it is, but not as thick.

Well here. I still have at least five or more to catch up on!
And when you do...
There'll be half a dozen
more to catch up on!
I will have an IRL update with that soon.
Standing by. :)
I'm starting to think this may be a better idea than our current form of government.

Cool!
