Canadian Buffoon's Semi-EPIC Vacation - 10/29 - Link to new TR!

The Epcot bag check is registered with the
Guinness Book of World Records as the
slowest bag check line in the world!
It really is bad, the worst of all the parks!!
The Blue Angels were scheduled
to do a fly over today and I was stoked!
That was a bummer, the picture is still awesome, we were just on the other side of SE, um being a VIP that morning had its advantages!
I've said this before.
CMs are not allowed to say
"I don't know."
I agree, if I had a dollar for all the wrong info from CMs I probably could get in another WDW trip free of charge, haha!
I told her I would happily puke on her.
She replied "But Dad. They don't take
real astronauts from the Green side."
I am definitely not a real astronaut, only have done the green side and will never do the orange. Glad you all cleaned up quick after the puking :rotfl:
The polar bears bug me.
They don't move like that
in real life.
Oh well, still a nice ride.
I agree, to much CGI on this Soarin’
The last time she saw Crush
(ten years ago), was the last
time I saw Crush.
Can you believe I have never done Crush! Andi always vetoes it, not sure why, maybe August!
Still, the show was enjoyable
and the kids' reactions were
as fun to see as always.
That is what I always hear but can’t convince the kid!
Disney understands that in Florida it
must rain. And quite a lot at times.
But they arrange it so as not to disturb
those of us with VIP weather passes.
Ha, we were VIP and totally missed getting rained on this day, so lucky!

I've never been to the Stampede
but of course am very familiar
with it.

Holy crap!

That's... some process!
So the whole thing from
start to finish takes about
a year for the Conditional Resident
status and sometime after that you
apply for the VISA which is good
for 10 years but can apply for
citizenship after 5 years.
So start to citizenship is minimum

about six years?

Thanks for the detailed
response!
I had no idea it was that
laborious a process.
I just assumed since our
Countries are so close
geographically and politically, etc
that it would be far quicker.

I envisioned a couple months.
:faint: Wow! That’s a lot of steps. Hope he just does the green card and not citizenship because if he ever moves back to Canada his taxes will be a nightmare. US is the only country in the world (except for a small African country) where taxation is based on citizenship, not residency.

It really is bad, the worst of all the parks!!
:sad2:
That was a bummer, the picture is still awesome, we were just on the other side of SE, um being a VIP that morning had its advantages!
I knew I should've insisted
on forcing my way in!

I agree, if I had a dollar for all the wrong info from CMs I probably could get in another WDW trip free of charge, haha!

::yes::
I am definitely not a real astronaut, only have done the green side and will never do the orange. Glad you all cleaned up quick after the puking :rotfl:
Then you'll never get to Mars.
Green only goes to Earth orbit now.

Stupid.

But there it is.
I agree, to much CGI on this Soarin’
Unfortunately.
Can you believe I have never done Crush! Andi always vetoes it, not sure why, maybe August!
Do it! It's really quite good. :)
That is what I always hear but can’t convince the kid!
Tell the kid I said "Go!"
Ha, we were VIP and totally missed getting rained on this day, so lucky!
You need one type of VIP
or another. ::yes::

:faint: Wow! That’s a lot of steps. Hope he just does the green card and not citizenship because if he ever moves back to Canada his taxes will be a nightmare. US is the only country in the world (except for a small African country) where taxation is based on citizenship, not residency.
Whoa.
That would.... suck!

Great photos! Very exciting about the Blue Angels doing a fly by. We have a summer air show here. Too bad it’s hotter than the surface of the sun when it’s on at Abbotsford air field, the black tarmac doesn’t help matters. Some of the planes and The Snow Birds use to fly over the inlet and over town on their way out to the valley for the show. Too bad they don’t anymore.

I thought Spaceship Earth was closed down? Guess not yet. I’m afraid what they’re going to do with it. Hope it’s not like TT, took all the scenes out and now it’s just empty walls with neon lights :sad2:

We were very excited to be a part of it.

I believe that. How fortunate you were to be able to stand in it!

I got my phone ready
(I left the big camera at
the hotel, today.)
and readied myself for
the exact moment when
they'd come roaring over
the ball towards me!!!

Oh.

...Oh.

I mean, still neat. But it's unfortunate that some faulty info caused you not to get the shot you would have liked.

I've said this before.
CMs are not allowed to say
"I don't know."
I suspect that on occasion,
a CM will just give information
that he thinks might be right,
rather than have to go to the
trouble of actually finding out.

I think this is a very fair assumption. I understand the rationale behind this, but what I'm looking for from a CM is "I don't know" followed up with "but I will find out for you." Too bad that wasn't what happened here.

I told her that I was too old to be
an astronaut.
She looked at me genuinely surprised
and said. "You are???"

That right there made my day.
That's why you should have kids, folks.

😊

Even though it had been ten years
since she was last on Soarin'
(apostrophe trademarked... now
who remembers that???)
she still said she missed the smell
of oranges.
The polar bears bug me.
They don't move like that
in real life.
Oh well, still a nice ride.

I never smelled the oranges. Wish I had! If anyone knows how a polar bear should move, I suspect it's you! *shudder*

I remember how Crush would
go fetch an item that he didn't
understand and ask the kids
about it.
When I was last there, it was
a bikini top.

:rotfl: I had never done crush until a couple of years ago, so I don't remember this happening, but I think it would be hilarious.

Anyone else ever notice that
the car is plugged in????

Not until now! Cool!

And I'm totally digging
my Mr. T mohawk.

It's a good look for you. You should grow one.

I woke up five minutes before
my alarm time of 7:00am.
Elle wasn't getting up until 7:30am,
so I took the opportunity
to relax on the balcony
while munching on some
delicious bacon, courtesy
of @docsoliday1.
It was unfortunate that Elle
didn't eat pork, whereupon
I was forced to consume it
all by myself.

Tragic.
The things we do for our children......
I had charged my VIP bus card
during the night.
I knowingly winked at Elle and...

At 8:07, two minutes after we arrived,
an empty Epcot bus pulled up.
Elle and I were the only passengers.
I presume Disney's way of apologizing
for the previous day's unimaginable
20 and 30 minute waits.
Well, that's more like it!
I got my phone ready
(I left the big camera at
the hotel, today.)
and readied myself for
the exact moment when
they'd come roaring over
the ball towards me!!!
Stilla great picture!
We bypassed TT and headed straight
for Mission Space.
Our first FP of the day.
And Elle insisted on riding Orange.
I told her I would happily puke on her.
She replied "But Dad. They don't take
real astronauts from the Green side."
I told her that I was too old to be
an astronaut.
She looked at me genuinely surprised
and said. "You are???"

That right there made my day.
That's why you should have kids, folks.
Absolutely......
Elle decided she wanted to do Crush next.
We had about a 25 minute wait for the
next show, so we wandered around
the holding area, looking at the critters
and playing the trivia games.
The bikini top was Stuart's favourite part ten years ago. When Crush asked what it was, Stuart responded "it's for girls!" and dissolved into laughter. Such a cute memory!
By now we were well within our last
FP window. We hopped on a car
that took us back in time.
Time travel you say? How is that possible?
Thank the Phoenicians!
Everything is possible with the Phoenicians!
Anyone else ever notice that
the car is plugged in????
And I'm totally digging
my Mr. T mohawk.
I love the new hair rejuvenators!
Thanks, Phoenicians!
DH would love that too!

Great photos!
Thanks! :goodvibes
Very exciting about the Blue Angels doing a fly by.
::yes::
Was super happy when
I found out.
Was happier still to see them.
Bummer about being on

the wrong side of the ball, but...
We have a summer air show here. Too bad it’s hotter than the surface of the sun when it’s on at Abbotsford air field, the black tarmac doesn’t help matters.
Oh, I've heard of the Abbotsford
show for years!
It's on my bucket list. :)
Some of the planes and The Snow Birds use to fly over the inlet and over town on their way out to the valley for the show. Too bad they don’t anymore.
Oh?
Do you know why not?

I thought Spaceship Earth was closed down?
Nope.
And as far as I've been able
to tell, so far it's just a rumor.
Guess not yet. I’m afraid what they’re going to do with it. Hope it’s not like TT, took all the scenes out and now it’s just empty walls with neon lights :sad2:
Hopefully, if it does happen...
It'll be an improvement.
Guess we'll see.

I believe that. How fortunate you were to be able to stand in it!
I was living the dream*!!!!

*nightmare
...Oh.

I mean, still neat. But it's unfortunate that some faulty info caused you not to get the shot you would have liked.
Oh well.
I was happy enough at the time.
I mean... it's still an interesting photo.
I think this is a very fair assumption. I understand the rationale behind this, but what I'm looking for from a CM is "I don't know" followed up with "but I will find out for you." Too bad that wasn't what happened here.
I don't think they're allowed
to say "I don't know."

Wish they were.
I never smelled the oranges. Wish I had! If anyone knows how a polar bear should move, I suspect it's you! *shudder*
Too bad. The old Soarin'
was so great.

And yes. I've been...
Um, I suppose the closest I've
been to a polar bear is...
a few inches.

(Just out of his reach in a Tundra Buggy)
I had never done crush until a couple of years ago, so I don't remember this happening, but I think it would be hilarious.
It got some reactions from
the little kids!

Not until now! Cool!
::yes::
It's a good look for you. You should grow one.
Gotta get me some
Phoenician hair tonic, first.

The things we do for our children......
It was a great sacrifice.

No. Really. It was great.
Well, that's more like it!
Much more my norm.
Stilla great picture!
Thanks! :goodvibes
Absolutely......
:)
The bikini top was Stuart's favourite part ten years ago. When Crush asked what it was, Stuart responded "it's for girls!" and dissolved into laughter. Such a cute memory!
 That is!
And it's a shame it's gone now.

Everything is possible with the Phoenicians!
::yes::
DH would love that too!
Gotta find me a Phoenician
hair restoration expert.

He pointed straight ahead.
"It's right there. You just can't
see it because the DME bus
is in front of it."

Weird. Definitely wouldn't have thought to look there either.

had forgotten to activate my
VIP bus pass before I left home.

Oh man, that should've been at the top of your to-do list! I was wishing for your VIP bus pass last week- we waited forever for buses lol.

He then texted that he was
at the front desk and was
leaving a few things for them
to put in our room. Surprise!

Aw how kind!

I'll give you a hint:
It was 7DMT.

Hm....

Not sure. Need another hint.

Then you have to decide
if you want marinara or alfredo.
Then you don't decide and order both.

Interesting approach. Never thought of that one!

Your freezer becomes a temporary morgue.
Last rites included for an extra fee.

I'm not sure I would be able to use the freezer anymore lol!

Funny but morbid story- the hospital I work at has a very small morgue. One night it was full and unfortunately we had someone else pass away and weren't sure what to do. We called the administrator on call and he asked us where else we can store bodies ...:sad2::sad2::sad2:

Doc had baked us a cheesecake
and had given me some of what
he described as "the best bacon
you'll ever eat."

Wow! Sounds delicious!!

Did you see it
in this chapter?

He was also confused about Capt Hooks attire

the excitement of going
to a park got the ol'
adrenaline pumping
and all was well.

Thank god Disney has that adrenaline- it makes me a temporary morning person!

We ran... at eight freaking
o'clock in the morning.

Scary.

We sprinted over to the
bus stop only to see...
That it was a MK bus.

Oh man. Terrible.

At 8:06am, right on time...
the display changed to 8:36am.

The worst!

So if you wanted to make
sure you were getting on the bus,
you had to go to the first stop
which was a stone's throw away.

For this reason alone, I prefer the values or smaller resorts. I get that it can't be helped that a bus fills up but to me, it defeats the purpose of having multiple bus stops because you end up having to use another to get on a bus that isn't full. Plus, I hate the rude free-for-all when the bus shows up.

Once on the bus,
a gentleman spoke with us
and wanted to know if we
were heading to DHS to
take part in the 30th anniversary
celebrations.

Uh... I had no idea that was today.
Also... I was hoping for a low
attendance day.

Oops.

ToT, here we come!

My favorite! And a benefit of not trying to do SDD at rope drop!

"My daughter. My daughter."
Yeah... I've seen this game before
and I didn't feel like playing.
I stood my ground and
didn't let her pass.

Good for you! I hate that and it's my boyfriend's biggest pet peeve.

What's on that man's head?

I'm not sure if it was me,
or Elle that pointed that
our names were on the
posters.

Such a small feature, but I love it when my name shows up!

How to make a chair.
Break Babybel in half.
stick a toothpick in and
tape a puzzle piece on.
Voila.

Wish I had known that when I moved out. Furniture shopping would've been much cheaper.

I think a certain martian agrees too.

But it was only recently, that I became
aware that there was also a
Mickey Ice Cream Sandwich.

I like the sandwich much better than the bar!

I noticed the gondolas were moving,
but still covered at this point.
Gonna make getting around just that
much easier in the near future.

Still not entirely sold on these things.

As we made our way over
to grab our snack, we stumbled
across Kevin, strolling about.

I love that she just strolls around the park!

Our snack was from Eight Spoons,
the Baked Macaroni & Cheese with
Shrimp and Sweet Chili Sauce.

Oo sounds delicious!

So, no. She didn't see the parrots.
She was too busy watching the scene
unfold in front of her and saving the day.

Aw how sweet!

Try it.
Pan-d'oh-Rah.... horrid.
Pandra. Much better.

Hm, ok I'll join the bandwagon.

We arrived for our 6:00pm ADR
precisely at... 6:17pm.
I explained that we'd been delayed
by a giraffe and the host replied with
"It happens."

Wonder if I can use that at work.

I will maybe go back...
and try something else...
but I'm not in a rush to do so.

Oh no! Yak and Yeti is our absolute favorite! I'm sad that you had a bad experience, but I definitely recommend going back and ordering different dishes!

Did you see it
in this chapter?

Couldn't find this one to save my life!

It was unfortunate that Elle
didn't eat pork, whereupon
I was forced to consume it
all by myself.

Good of you to take one for the team.

I typically pay good money
not only for a transportation VIP pass,
but for a weather VIP pass too.

Man, I need to get that connection!

At 8:07, two minutes after we arrived,
an empty Epcot bus pulled up.

They knew what was good for them!

The Blue Angels were scheduled
to do a fly over today and I was stoked!

Awesome!

Still makes for an interesting
photo, I suppose.

That's frustrating- but still a good picture.

Did you see it
in this chapter?

The automotive division explains the VIP transportation!

Ok all caught up now!

I thought I'd never go...
And now, here I've gone twice!

I'm jealous! I hope to get there within the next couple years!

So, did you buy the WDW UOG again?

At 8:07, two minutes after we arrived,
an empty Epcot bus pulled up.
Elle and I were the only passengers.
I presume Disney's way of apologizing
for the previous day's unimaginable
20 and 30 minute waits.

It's the least they can do.

In no time, we were in line for bag check.
The Epcot bag check is registered with the
Guinness Book of World Records as the
slowest bag check line in the world!

The worst! And honestly, nothing annoys me more than when you get up there and the bag-check CM tries to make small talk. That's mean, I know, but it just makes me think that maybe the line would just go faster if they moved faster and stopped chit-chatting >:(

The Blue Angels were scheduled
to do a fly over today and I was stoked!

We were there the same day!

I learned that they'd fly from South to North.

:confused3

Or, for those of you who are directionally
challenged, from World Showcase
towards Future World.

Ohhhh…okay.

I got my phone ready
(I left the big camera at
the hotel, today.)
and readied myself for
the exact moment when
they'd come roaring over
the ball towards me!!!

IMG_1763_zpsgyw4xoch.jpg

Oh.

Oops :sad2:

Still a really cool pic :thumbsup2

We got to The Land shortly after
our FP window for Soarin' opened up
and I made sure to ask for "Center Row, Top".
You have to.
It's the difference between a good ride
and a horrible ride.

So true ::yes::

Disney understands that in Florida it
must rain. And quite a lot at times.
But they arrange it so as not to disturb
those of us with VIP weather passes.

I'm going to have to check into getting one of those. I'm missing out, apparently.

And I'm totally digging
my Mr. T mohawk.
I love the new hair rejuvenators!
Thanks, Phoenicians!

Did you see it
in this chapter?

Coming up... Flowers and Gardens
I'm pretty good at finding Marvin.... and at spotting most of the Pkonds you drop in the pictures... but I am completely befuddled... I went through all of the photos 3 times and didn't see anything.... maybe I need glasses to wear on top of my contacts.... hmmm.
Also, the blue angel shot is still pretty cool. I watched one of my favorite youtubers (The Daily Woo) was there that day and he got video of the fly over... which apparently they did twice? Very cool that you happened to be there that day though.

Weird. Definitely wouldn't have thought to look there either.
It's Disney's very own
"Did you see it?"

:lmao:
Oh man, that should've been at the top of your to-do list!
I think what happened was,
it was on its last charge
when we arrived at MCO,
but it died shortly after.
I don't have to charge it often,
so I forgot to check it since

it worked the first time.

I was wishing for your VIP bus pass last week- we waited forever for buses lol.
Sorry to hear that.
You may not want to read
about any more of our

bus waits.

:rolleyes1
Aw how kind!
Very!
Hm....

Not sure. Need another hint.
It involves a roller coaster,
a mine theme and seven
vertically challenged individuals.
Also includes a poor misunderstood
little old lady and some bimbo

with an apple fetish.
I'm not sure I would be able to use the freezer anymore lol!
It has its moments.
Funny but morbid story- the hospital I work at has a very small morgue. One night it was full and unfortunately we had someone else pass away and weren't sure what to do. We called the administrator on call and he asked us where else we can store bodies ...:sad2::sad2::sad2:

Ooohhh… I like that.
Disney makes morning people!

Very.
The worst!
That's when I realized
I hadn't charged my
VIP pass.
For this reason alone, I prefer the values or smaller resorts. Plus, I hate the rude free-for-all when the bus shows up.
It worked out well for us,
once I figured it out, but...

Yeah... I get it.
My jaw might have dropped.
My favorite! And a benefit of not trying to do SDD at rope drop!
Love the TOT queue.
And the ride is so much fun! :goodvibes

Good for you! I hate that and it's my boyfriend's biggest pet peeve.
I've had mixed success with it.
I've had people shove or
(in this case) sneak past.

I've had others wait, or leave.
What's on that man's head?
Those are called
"Mickey Ears".
It's a fairly common piece
of headgear worn by Disney

guests.

:rolleyes2
Such a small feature, but I love it when my name shows up!
We were both surprised,
and pleased as punch!

Wish I had known that when I moved out. Furniture shopping would've been much cheaper.
You'd also have to be toy sized.
But you'd save so much on rent!

I think a certain martian agrees too.
;)
I like the sandwich much better than the bar!
I will do a thorough examination
in the fall.

I notified Disney of what was going on
and by the time we walked out of our room,
about 8:00am, it had stopped raining.

That was lucky! How nice!

At 8:07, two minutes after we arrived,
an empty Epcot bus pulled up.

How on earth do you do that?! I swear you have the best transportation luck of anyone I know!

The Epcot bag check is registered with the
Guinness Book of World Records as the
slowest bag check line in the world!

And I believe it's getting worse?! I wonder if it's because you have to turn after going through bag check rather continuing in a straight line? I swear that's the only difference between Epcot and the other parks - I don't think they have fewer bag checkers than HS and AK. It's annoying regardless of the reason.

Still makes for an interesting
photo, I suppose.

It's a great photo! Perhaps not what you had in mind, but still great.

Sometimes I wish they could just say, "I don't know." They could always follow that up with, "Let me find out!" :confused3

That right there made my day.
That's why you should have kids, folks.

How very nice. :goodvibes

I cleaned my face and she rinsed out her clothes
and we headed over to our next FP.

I'm hoping you're just injecting your usual humor and actually survived the ride?!

I've only done this ride a few times,
but I don't remember the underside
of this boat in the queue.

I believe I remember it from a past trip. I think it's just so darn dark in there that's easy to miss some of the queue details.

No uptight people complaining
that little Johnny has been traumatized.
But no real laughs, either.

I think I may remember the bikini top! It was rather hysterical. (And I think most children have seen a bikini top - I don't feel like it's that scandalous.)

Buzz Lightyear could create some amusement, too, though... depending on the children that were sitt

But they arrange it so as not to disturb
those of us with VIP weather passes.

Seriously, you have the best luck with buses AND weather! I may need to start traveling with you!

Thanks, Phoenicians!

Ah, Spaceship Earth. I do love that attraction and will be sad to miss it next year if it's closed for refurbishment!

I still believe they'll keep most of the charm - at least I certainly hope they do!
