Canadian Buffoon's Semi-EPIC Vacation - 10/29 - Link to new TR!

Oh, no! That would've been a disaster (for multiple reasons!). I'm glad the crisis was averted and Mickey and Minnie will allow you to come back to the parks with that annual pass!
That was my only concern.
That and being physically
thrown out of the park.

I hate the landings.
I'm glad they hit it off! (And don't feel too bad - Elle was a pretty great traveling companion the rest of the trip! Plus, it made it easier for you and Doc to catch up!)
I didn't feel bad.
More... relieved.

What a great Photopass picture! Well done!
Thanks! :)
Okay, I was wrong. THIS is the best ride photo. You guys went all out!
 Thanks again.
We had fun with them.

I'm quite amused at several of the guests in your boat. In the closer photo, the people in the front look SO bored and unimpressed while the women behind them appear to be concerned about their surroundings. You wonder how many people know that the camera exists!
I love Pirates for that.
Most people look bored.
I think that's just a normal

"I'm just looking around" face.
That is the high point of the Tiki Birds! I'm not a big Tiki Birds fan either, but I don't mind seeing it occasionally.
I don't mind either.
Just don't want to se it
every single trip.
Unlikely!
:sad2:
:rotfl2:

Even so, I do love Philharmagic!
I like it too. :)
It's not my fave in the park...
but I do enjoy it when I see it.
Very true. It's practically a law!
Take out the word "practically"
and your sentence is accurate.

Wow! I hope no one bothered them and the ducklings were okay!
I hope so!

It won't be the same to watch something other than Wishes! I haven't been to Disney World in so long that I've yet to see HEA. I look forward to a new experience, but I will REALLY miss Wishes! I LOVED Wishes!
HEA is okay... and if you've never seen it,
it's pretty cool...
But...

I personally am not a huge fan of
having to switch constantly between
watching the fireworks or watching
the
castle.
You took great fireworks photos! Mine never tend to turn out as well.
Thanks!
I wasn't particularly trying
for great shots, so I'm glad

you like them. :)
I really enjoy that aspect of the dessert party as well. I've done the seated dessert party three times (it was the only option at the time), but I think it would still be my top choice with all the options available. It's wonderful to sit and watch the fireworks, even if they're a bit off-kilter!
I would definitely do this again.
I really liked how relaxing it was.

I thought so! :rotfl:
:rolleyes1
I'm sorry that you had to suffer through IASW, but I'm glad that Elle got to ride a Disney classic!
Suffer?
Oh, no!
You put those ear-buds in,
and blast that ACDC

and those dolls ROCK!

I kind of think he would for such an important event. He wore a vest for the actual events.
And that's probably why I
think he was wearing one.

I'm not sure if movies are released in Canada the same time they are here, but "Art of Racing in the Rain" started on Friday. I went yesterday with a group from book club and work. It was good and pretty faithful to the book.
I've been seeing a bunch of
trailers for it!
I actually downloaded the book
from the library, but unfortunately
I wasn't able to read it before
the return date.
I plan on seeing the movie

and reading the book too.

I was honestly probably drinking Landshark at that exact Cheeseburger in Paradise :drinking:
I waved as I drove by
but you didn't wave back!

Your Ariel pics always make me giggle.
Glad you like them. :)
Congrats to Elle! I have two semesters left then maybe I'll talk my dad into taking me on a graduation trip!
You definitely should!
She's starting her B.Ed. this fall
which is a two year course
and wants me to take her again
for that graduation.

Twist my arm! Another trip
to Disney?

Okay!

Sounds like me. Funny story. I found out this past weekend the real meaning of “Netflix and chill”. Oops.
You didn't know?!??!
I hope you didn't suggest
it to your girls!
Nice that they hit it off. I am quite familiar with paying for everything but being ignored.
It's in the Dad code.
Nicely done!
If I ever go on Splash again I will have to do something to commemorate the occasion.
Thanks. :)
I try to do something
every trip.

I'm going to run out

of ideas...
tip my pirate hat to you sir. I’m sure the kids appreciated it. Better than having it sit in your suitcase.
[/QUOTE]
It was the plan all along.
Unfortunately, my bird
broke so that went in

the trash.
Although last trip was the first time I’ve seen it in ages, I didn’t mind it. Not a “must do”, but a good break from the heat.
I don't mind it.
It's not offensive like...

IASW.
I’m still disappointed that I forgot to take this picture of myself last year.
I know.
We're all disappointed in you.

And for not taking a foot shot, too.
That’s awesome!
Was pretty cool! :)
I would like to try a dessert party one day. It definitely seems like a relaxing way to see the fireworks.
I was actually pretty surprised
by how much I enjoyed it.
I'd easily do it again. :)

Sounds like me. Funny story. I found out this past weekend the real meaning of “Netflix and chill”. Oops.
Okay, I knew chill. There's a DIFFERENT meaning for Netflix other than the streaming TV service?

Nice that they hit it off. I am quite familiar with paying for everything but being ignored.
Of course you are...you're a DISdad. Duh!

Mosey? How does that stack up to sashay? A little slower?
Well, you've seen his comments multiple times...supposedly sashay is the most superior form of locomotion, so mosey must be inferior, but given you're in the land of the wild frontier, mosey IS the appropriate form.

I can certainly think of worse views.
Like this?

Mosey? How does that stack up to sashay? A little slower?
Definitely a little slower
and a little less purposeful.

I couldn't expect her to sashay.
It's a method of locomotion
that takes practice to perfect.
I couldn't possibly teach her
and expect results in the short

time we were in Disney.
:rolleyes1
I did note that it appeared as though it was flying off your head! Ooops :rotfl:
Yep.
I was pretty sure I'd lose it...
I just didn't think it'd be

that soon!
Yes, a requirement, indeed! But you on the left? :sad2:
She didn't shave.
Mine, too! In fact, I posted almost that exact shot on Instagram just a day or so ago. Wise minds and all...
::yes::
I can certainly think of worse views.
Like... anything outside Disney?
What?! How cool!!!
I know! Right???
You and me both, my friend, you and me both.

Okay, I knew chill. There's a DIFFERENT meaning for Netflix other than the streaming TV service?
Oh, dude... :sad2:
Well, you've seen his comments multiple times...supposedly sashay is the most superior form of locomotion, so mosey must be inferior, but given you're in the land of the wild frontier, mosey IS the appropriate form.
Correct, and...
correct.

Okay, folks.
I think I've replied to everyone.
If I missed you, please let me know
I'm not ignoring you.
(Well... except for that one...

and you know who you are.)

"DAD!!!"

Startled, I looked back at Elle.
"What?" I asked.
"You almost stepped on
a squirrel!" She exclaimed.

At what speed where you walking when you did this? Was it faster than your sashay?

422317628_zpsd61vcwlr.jpg

Love this! Congrat to Elle!

And if you look a little closer,
you'll note that I wore some
headgear myself.
It says, "Proud Parent".
And you can juuuust make
it out at is flies off my head.

I guess that means you lost that head piece?

Another great photo. They should have sat y'all closer to the front.

I have to wonder what you seat mates thought of their pictures? I would love to see something like this when I got mine back.

When we got off the ride,
we hung around the POTC
exit for a bit until
we saw some young kids
with their parents.
We gave the kids our pirate booty.

That is soooo nice!

We ducked into Memento Mori
where Elle got this little beauty:

Very cool.

I have to take a photo of
my favourite trees.
It's a rule.

I've never noticed these. Being short I don't normally look up. I will try to remember to look next trip.

It must be done.
If you ride it, a foot photo
is an absolute requirement.

Yes it is, but where's your pedicure?

I wonder how much closer
it will be to being finished when
I see it again four months later.

I bet you see a vast difference.

Elle, on the other hand, proclaimed
her veggie sausages to be the
third best meal of the trip!

She seems to be having better luck with her meals than you.

:rotfl2:

Funny true(er) story.
When we were setting up
the above photo, I was
explaining to the young lady
that I had a running series
of photo gags.
When I mentioned how I'd
given her a "dinglehopper",
she exclaimed "I still have it!"
and pulled one out.
It was the exact same size
as the one I'd given "her"
in California!

When we posed for the above
photo, I was leaning in and Elle
had her hand on my chest.
Elle at one point suddenly relaxed
the tension in her hand briefly,
which caused me to abruptly move
a fraction towards Ariel before
I caught myself.
The poor thing jerked in the
opposite direction. I think she
thought I was actually moving
in for a kiss!

I love this story. I'm sure she had a version of this she told her other CMs.

This is what I saw:

IMG_1924_zpskrlkzn91.jpg

The duck had just laid some eggs!

AWWWWWWW!

IASW

And this time, shockingly,
it was a walk on.

Never fear!
I came prepared.
As we floated our way through
the land of zombie dolls,
I was quite content with
Aerosmith and ACDC blaring
in my ears, drowning out the
horrid ear-worm that one
normally hears in IASW.
As the zombies nodded their
heads in a good heavy metal
head banging frenzy I saluted
them and their enthusiasm.

Those dolls rock.

Great way to combat the ear-worm.

And...
Did you see it in this chapter?

Yes I did, I hope he made it in time.

Funny thing...I didn't care the least about the springform pan. I thought I'd told you this already, but thanks.
What he's not telling you, dear readers (because he's humble and doesn't want to talk about what he does for others) is he brought me a bottle of maple syrup -- remember the glass item he almost lost at bag check?

He also brought me some kindereggs. Now, for those of you who don't know, they're illegal to bring into the US (IN THEIR ORIGINAL FORM). Since they have small parts inside of the chocolate, the US decided to ban them because of parents who choose to sue someone else vs. taking responsibilty for their own choices (non-parenting) or not properly supervising their children and wanted to blame the manufacturer. Don't mention EVERY other country in the world can get them without trying to blame someone else. Okay, I'll get off my soapbox.

So, what he did to make them legal to bring was to separate the chocolate shell from the yellow capsule within. No longer small parts contained in chocolate. This is way past the call of duty and even more so the call of friendship!!!! Lastly, I had asked if he could have Elle knit me a "dwarf" hat. I have a purple (my favorite color) dwarf shift with Doc on the back and wanted a matching hat. I wanted to pay her, but she would not allow me. So, like father, like daughter...generous. Canadians are renowned for politeness.....@pkondz and Elle are, in my mind, renowned for generosity. Please tell her again thank you.

This was all super nice. You really can meet the best people on the DIS.

I've been seeing a bunch of
trailers for it!
I actually downloaded the book
from the library, but unfortunately
I wasn't able to read it before
the return date.
I plan on seeing the movie

and reading the book too.

The book has more racing details. I really think you'll like it.

At what speed where you walking when you did this? Was it faster than your sashay?
Faster.
We were moving pretty quickly.
I didn't want to keep Doc and Penny waiting.
Love this! Congrat to Elle!
Thanks! I passed that on. :)
I guess that means you lost that head piece?
Yep. Never saw it again.
Another great photo. They should have sat y'all closer to the front.
I picked the back so no one
behind us would be bothered.
Didn't realize that the photo

wouldn't be as good.
I have to wonder what you seat mates thought of their pictures? I would love to see something like this when I got mine back.
The thought crossed my mind.
That is soooo nice!
:)
Very cool.
We have three now.
Both kids and myself. :)

I've never noticed these. Being short I don't normally look up. I will try to remember to look next trip.
I'm actually surprised so few
people know about them!

Yes it is, but where's your pedicure?
Inside the shoes, of course!
I bet you see a vast difference.
::yes::
She seems to be having better luck with her meals than you.
Stand by for the next update. ;)
I love this story. I'm sure she had a version of this she told her other CMs.
"And then this old guy suddenly
lurches at me. I jumped and almost
socked him in the nose!"
AWWWWWWW!
Right???
Great way to combat the ear-worm.
I've done it before.
It's the only way I'll ride it!

Yes I did, I hope he made it in time.
You really can meet the best people on the DIS.
Doc went above and beyond. :)
Cheesecake and bacon and gifts!!

The book has more racing details. I really think you'll like it.
I really prefer to read the book
before seeing the movie, but...
I'm worried that by the time I
get to the book, the movie might
not be available any longer.

So it'll be movie first, this time.

Faster.
We were moving pretty quickly.
I didn't want to keep Doc and Penny waiting.

That explains why you missed seeing the squirrel.

I picked the back so no one
behind us would be bothered.
Didn't realize that the photo

wouldn't be as good.

Next time you'll know better.

I'm actually surprised so few
people know about them!

It's amazing what we learn in trip reports.

Inside the shoes, of course!

But the picture is suppose to show the pedicure.

Stand by for the next update. ;)

:surfweb:

Let me know what you think.

:)

That's a good point!
I'm glad you said that! :goodvibes

I always tell people to put the kids first.

Remember it's why you're there.
I once rode Magic Carpets seven times
in a row because the kids wanted to.
I canceled a Le Cellier (when it was the
hottest ADR in Disney), because they
wanted to go to MK instead that day...
Only to immediately tell me they'd changed
their minds because they wanted to ride "Figment"
again. (No park hoppers that trip.)

They never once had a melt down.

Okay... have some fun for you too. :)

Oh! Howdy fellow Canuck!

Where abouts are you from?
(If you feel like sharing.

No worries if you don't.)

Should start typing soon.
All the photos are loaded. :)
I am from the beautiful Muskoka ON...in my twenties I did live in BC and AB as well. I live in a great part of the province though. Off to get caught up on your thred...

That explains why you missed seeing the squirrel.
No. It's not looking where
I was going that explains it.

Next time you'll know better.
If there's a next time.
Bringing all that stuff
takes extra room in
the suitcase. :)

We'll see.
It's amazing what we learn in trip reports.
::yes::
But the picture is suppose to show the pedicure.
Just imagine perfectly
buffed and polished
tootsies.
Let me know what you think.
I will! :)

Definitely a little slower
and a little less purposeful.
Makes sense.

I couldn't expect her to sashay.
It's a method of locomotion
that takes practice to perfect.
I couldn't possibly teach her
and expect results in the short

time we were in Disney.
No, no, it's far too much to expect such skills without due practice.

She didn't shave.
 And I suppose you did...

Like... anything outside Disney?
You got it! :thumbsup2 ;)

It's been a looooong time
since I was in that area.
Before you were born. :)

What moved you around?

I drove through in the fall.

Wow!

Happy reading! :)

I can't figure out how to quote properly sorry if it makes it hard to follow.
I moved around because I thought I was young and liberated and wanted to expeirnce the mountains etc. I stayed out that way for about five years, turns it it WAS the best thing I have ever done to build life knowledge. I miss the West coast often. Yes Muskoka is stubnning anytime of year, but Fall is spectacular.

I loved the ice cream cone...getting some ideas for snacks for our Fall trip :)

Easy enough to quote...

Highlight the text you want to quote and then you'll get a "+Quote" button and a "Reply" button.
To multiquote (multiple people or the same person multiple times), just repeat the process for each block of text and +Quote.
Then, scroll to bottom and there will be an "Insert Quotes" button. Press that and then confirm those you want to quote and you're off and running.

I can't figure out how to quote properly sorry if it makes it hard to follow.
I see Doc already answered this
in the post after yours. :)
If you still have questions,
feel free to PM me or just

post another question here. :)

Travel is always mind opening.
Nothing like broadening your
mind than broadening your

horizons. ::yes::
Yes Muskoka is stubnning anytime of year, but Fall is spectacular.
It definitely was!
That entire drive from
roughly the MB/ON border

to almost Toronto was great!
I loved the ice cream cone...getting some ideas for snacks for our Fall trip :)
If you want more... just ask.
When in the fall are you going?
