 I wondered if anyone has had an encounter with a celebrity while vacationing at WDW.

My DH is a NASCAR fan. We went in Jan. one year and we came face to face with his favorite driver. My DH had stayed out with our baby DD while I took our DS on a ride. When we came out my DH said RICKY RUDD is walking out right behind you. Sure enough there he was. My DS and I were actually on the WDW Speedway ride at the same time as a NASCAR pro. My DH had worn his RICKY RUDD NASCAR baseball hat everyday at the parks until that day. (We had been to the DIS outlet store the night before and he got a WDW Speedway hat for $2.99 so he wore it instead.) Luckily our baby DD loved to chew on the hot wheels-sized version of his NASCAR and I had it the diaper bag. We pulled it out to show him that we really were big fans of his. He thought it was really neat that we had his little car in our diaper bag. LOL! He shook my husband's hand and talked to us for a minute or two. It was the greatest thrill! I guess late Jan. is a good time to spot NASCAR drivers at the park because they are in Daytona getting ready for the big race at that time.

Let me know if anyone else has had a fun run-in with a famous person. Thanks!:p

I saw someone at the GF this year (second week in August) that I just know had to be a celebrity, but he's an American one that I'm not familiar with. He has long chin-length really black hair slicked back, was wearing a black shirt out over dark/washed out denims (in the August heat) and was accompanied by his blonde wife, a couple of 5-10 year old kids, what looked like his MIL and possibly a nanny. They were staying main building at the GF, and it's been really bothering me as to what his name was. He looks kinda like an old rocker from the 80's in the Bono mould KWIM? Any suggestions as to who it might have been?

On our first trip to WDW while at DTD we saw Michael Jackson. He was shopping in the stores but there was no way anyone could get near him, he had security all around. The reason we noticed him was because they would clear the stores out before he would go in, so there was this huge group of people waiting to get into the store and I said to DH that I didn't want to go shopping there because it was to crowded and a CM said "no, those people are waiting to get in because the store is closed for Michael Jackson" I didn't believe him at first but a few minutes later they exited the store and sure enough it was him. And of course my camera was at the hotel.

I saw our local news anchor at WDW. She looked so different in the Real World. She is so bubbly and smiling on the news and she was so stern and unhappy I really didn't think it was her. I saw her smile and then I knew for sure it was her.

Our first one way back in the early 90's, 93 I think, we sat next to Ed McMahon from the old Tonight Show and his party. We were dinning at Alfredo's and he said hello to everyone and was very pleasant.

The second was when the riverboat restaurant in DTD was called the Empress Lilly and we had a character breakfast onboard and we were seated beside ( I cannot remember his name) and his family. He used to play a family man on a sit com, about 2 girls and a mother. Schneider was the handy man for the apt. building. Gosh loosing my memory here. He was actually signing autographs for people and being very nice. Goofy came up and gave him a lick with his big red tongue! His kids loved it.

We were there in December 2001 when the media event was held for Walt's 100th Birthday (12/5/01). We saw a taping of Millionaire with Regis Philbin and Olympic Stars (Bruce Jenner, Mary Lou Retton, Oscar DeLaHoya, Tai Babalonia, Dan Jansen and others). We saw Regis & Kelly taping the Christmas Parade. We saw Gilbert Godfried doing an interview at Animal Kingdom. We also saw a local radio personality doing his talk show and the cm pushed me up to the mic! So I said hello to the people back home!

On our trip last December we saw Anthony Edwards and his family on the boat back to Boardwalk. He was Dr. Mark Greene on ER and also Tom Cruise's partner in Top Gun. I just happened to look up and they were sitting 2 rows ahead of us on the boat.

Last Nov. during Soap Week, we saw several soap stars on the concierge level eating breakfast at the AKL. Sorry, I'm not a soap fan so I don't know names, but they certainly were beautiful people! ;)

Last December we were there the day they filmed the christmas day parade (it was more like December 9th or so, lol). Regis and Kelly were there of course, and some other celebs in the parade--Wayne Brady and Lizzie whatshername, Lee Ann Womack, etc. Their families, were there with them...so all weekend we saw celebs and their kids in various places in the park. One notable thing was Kelly's dh Mark and their kids (she was still pg) got onto the boat we were exiting in Small World. My dh was like...who, wha? You know him? When I said *HI Mark!* LOL :)

We saw John Stamos there in Dec 2001. He was looking for Rebecca in Mexico. Someone yelled "there's uncle Jesse". He sighed and said Let's get Rebecca and get out of here.

That show was called "One day at a time" and the man was Pat Harrington Jr..

When we were there last year, we saw dozens of celebrities. We kept running into Mickey Mouse at every park we went to. We saw several of his famous co-stars like Goofy, Minnie, and Pluto.

When we had breakfast at the castle at MK, we saw Cinderella, Snow White, and Mary Poppins.

I guess we were just there at the right time. It seemed like every time we turned around we were seeing these movie and TV stars.

(sorry... just having a little fun)

We went to the MK on our last day one trip, and my sports crazy nephew stayed at the motorhome. We kept seeing a very tall man and his family being escorted to the rides by some Disney employees (so I knew he was somebody) so I held the camera up high and snapped a shot. When we got it developed my nephew recognized him as an NBA basketball player (I forget who). My nephew wished he had gone that day!

We've seen many celebs over the years, especially when we've attended special events.

We were at MGM years ago when they filmed the Easter parade. Got to see Regis who was leading the parade.

We were at MK for the 25th birthday celebration. We saw Michael Eisner, Roy Disney and Hilary Clinton from a distance. During the week, while wandering through the parks, we saw Captain Kangaroo, the Today show crew, the GMA crew and lots of local and national news folks. I even got interviewed by one of the NBC crews (don't remember who did the interview, though).

When we went to the grand opening of AK, we saw Drew Carey who was there filming the opening special.

Steve

When we stayed at the WL in 2001, Scottie Pippen was there also! We watched the water pageant right next to his family, and later DH got some paparazzi-style video of Scottie. We are big fans of the Bulls (at least, the old ones).

Over the years and not in this order: KISS (BC), Monty Hall(GF), Wayne Newton (BWI), Jeremy Pith(?) (YC), Dick Clark (BC), Pierce Brosnan (YC), Drew Carey (MGM), Numerous NFL Players, Lauren Hutton (MK).

The only one that I approached was the rock group KISS. I was (& still am) a huge fan. They were very pleasent & gracious. They even took the time to take photos, sign autographs.Gene
Simmons even asked if I had someone I could call and he'd talked with them. It took my buddies a couple minutes but when they were convinced it was them (KISS) on the phone, they flipped out.
Our party was even invited to watch them perform on property. They were being taped for Dick Clark's Rockin' New Years Special.

Later,

Dude

How cool it would be to meet KISS. I was a huge fan in the mid 70s.

We saw Robert Urich in Dec 00 sitting in the row in front of us at Country Bear Jamboree at MK. He was with his wife and DD or DGD, not sure which. His wife we found out later was an actress also, in fact one of the Von Trapp daughters in The Sound of Music.

I saw Dan Tyminski who sings with Allison Krauss and Union Station. He sang a very popular song from O Brother Where Art Thou. I saw him with I guess his DW and several kids at Pecos Bill eating on e of those yummy burgers.
