Cinderella II - Disapointing

Well, I had a feeling this wouldn't be good. My feeling was right. I feel so bad that Disney has to spoil the magic of the original classics with these sub-par sequels. The problem is, most Disney/Cinderella fans will be buying this (many already have through the pre-orders) because they loved the original so much. And for this, Disney will see it as a success and will continue to put out more like this. If only Walt were alive today, this would never have been done.

It isn't the best video but it is cute. My 4 year old DD got her copy today and has watched it three times she really likes it.

I watched it with kids I babysit, and they all loved it! I did, too - it was like three stories put together in one video. My favorite story was Anatasia in love with the Baker - I thought that one was cute! :)

I agree completely. A sad attempt to recapture the "glory days". The singing (actually, the ATTEMPTED singing) in this one makes me weep for Ilene Woods.

I don't think it is an attempt to recapture the glory days. It is just an attempt by a business to make more money off of a character they know will attract many buyers. I don't think they put out this video with the intent that it would be as good as the orginal.

OH NO, BUZZ!!! I think you've ensured that this thread will go 15 pages!

Cindy II was not what I expected, but my kids loved it... I couldn't even sit through it and watch the whole thing. However, my 4 kids loved it. We got th movie 2 days ago, and they have watched it 3 times already... So, since my kids like it, I can not say that it was a total waste of money. I guess I was expecting more of a sequel, not 3 short stories. JMO....

Didnt get a chance to watch it myself but both my DD's aged 7 and 5 loved it
And if it keeps them happy.............

We watched it over the weekend, and yes, 3 year old DS liked it. And while I agree that makes it a worthwhile purchase, that is not enough to ensure long-term Disney success. Most kids will watch just about any cartoon that's targeting them as an audience. Show them Underdog and they will watch, that doesn't make it good for Disney.

Cinderella 2 was several notches below Return to Neverland in just about every way, but most importantly in quality of story.

I'm still not against the concept of doing sequels in addition to original feature animation. However, the execution is extremely important. If Cinderella 2 is an indication of the quality of the sequels to come, the "well will run dry" theory posted by some on this board could come to fruition sooner than any of us thought.

I read that Cinderella II was going to be a Saturday morning TV show and that those are 3 episodes....

After seeing it this past weekend, I believe that's true. It's ok for a half hour tv show but not to be promoted as a sequel to the wonderful classic movie of Cinderella and released on video with the impression that it is a "movie" sequel.

It wasn't that good if you think of it as a sequel but as a tv show, it's ok.

I was disappointed.

that the credits were mostly Japanese names. She doesn't post on this board, but in light of the recent cutbacks in Disney Animation here in CA, it is interesting to note as well. Does this mean that the newer Disney animated movies are being made elsewhere? I remember reading that LK2 was made by the Australia Animation group, so now I am curious. I had read somewhere that this movie was made elsewhere. (in Japan I think, but I may be wrong)
I have yet to watch it all, but I will post as soon as I do. She was NOT impressed, and being a schoolteacher, she is hesitant to even recommend it to her students.
