Club 33 pricing announced-open to Golden Oaks residents first

They differ in that there are considerably fewer openings at Disneyland's Club. Also, Disneyland's side, you need a referral from a current member to really make any movement in the process. Referrals aren't really needed yet at WDW.
Well I’d think there is obviously more space at WDW since it’s brand new right now.

To those worrying if they are "worthy", you have put in your inquiry, it is on someone desk, they have a lot of people they are going thru. Feel free to send an email reminding them you are interested, but those also get put in someone's pile.

Okay, your post encouraged me... I emailed them again. =)

Do you know if they already have a waitlist? And if so, how long is it?

No wait list at either park. A waitlist implies when you get to the top, you are next to join. They are just moving thru the inquiries and make selections. For both clubs I know people who put their interest letter in and are still waiting, and I know people who went thru the entire process in under a week. If you happen to know a member well, ask them to speak up for you. THAT will give you a bigger "jump" than how many times you visit or owning DVC or anything else.

So this begs an important question. Are there any posters here on the DIS who have been accepted and are willing to refer a fellow DISboards member? If so, please PM me because I am waiting (not so patiently) to hear back! :)

Golden Oak was the one most people heard about. There were a couple other groups also in the first round.

Without giving more details, I can back up everything that has been said above from personal experience.

Keep making friends!

Here is the issue with this, and what people may not understand on this situation... Anyone you refer is an extension and reflection of you for the first year. If they screw up, you get punished too. An example of this on the Disneyland side, you refer someone, they send someone to the club, and that 3rd person posts a picture in the bathroom, BOTH members will be suspended for 30 days, even tho the first member is "innocent" and has never had another negative mark.

So, don't get upset if members say no.

This is so very helpful, thank you. I'm more than willing to go through an interview process to prepare me for the interview process. :)

But seriously, I totally get your point. In real life I have friends that I am more than happy to refer for an open job in my company, and others whom I am willing to point in the right direction and wish them luck. I would not take offense to someone not feeling comfortable vouching for someone whom they have never met aside from a conversation on an internet message board, even if it is a Disney related message board. :) Thanks for the input.

It'll be interesting to hear more as details emerge about what membership includes. At DL, there is so much value to it just being there onsite, with a great restaurant and lounge, year-round. WDW is so different. Many people only visit during certain seasons, when weather is better, non-hurricane season and so forth. Being seasonal, and without restaurants, seems like WDW may offer more "perks" -- VIP access, etc.
It's exciting to follow along!

Hi Malcon10t, do you know how much roughly initiation fees and annual dues are currently for DLR C33 Platinum individual membership? Just curious how that compares to WDW. Thank you!

Last I heard, initiation is about $65K, first year is about $17500.

To be clear, the numbers I have heard is $33K initiation and $15 membership for WDW Club 33. Disneyland's Club 33 is $65K+ initiation and $17500 annual.

At LEAST $15K, it goes up 10-20% per year based on past history.
Yes I was talking about WDW.

I sent an email a little while after if was announced. Eventually got the basic application and sent that back, then got the invite to a meet and greet — we’re going in Aug.

We’ve been going to WDW 1-3 times a year for 13 yrs, have been to DL and done DCL, rD, you name it I guess. We have a ton of DVC points, Disney VISA, blah, blah. Have done a couple of VIP tours, stay deluxe, etc. Though per @Malcon10t, none of this matters, I guess!

Feels like we might have jumped on it 10yrs ago when the kids were really young... not so sure now, but still interested in finding out more.

Must admit that I was getting amused at reading everyone refering to this as an “interview”, when we’re approaching it as a meeting at which we’ll get info for us to decide if we’re interested or not. We must be idiots. :D

After reading this thread, I’m beginning to feel like I’m back applying to private schools in DC for my kids! LOL! We really approached it like us deciding if we wanted to have our kids attend those schools — but then once we had a favorite we felt like we were constantly auditioning!! :rotfl:

There's not a lot those of us who have gotten to or past the interview stage can share, but I can reiterate that it really has nothing to do with net worth. I was never once asked for financial information during any point of the process. I'm sure what they are looking for is largely "we'll know it when we see it".
Must admit, though, that it seems odd for them to waste time touring people who would not be in a position to join if offered. Especially when it’s SO EASY to get basic financial info on someone once you have their name and address.

I do work with a NPO, and there’s a lot we can do to assess someone’s “capacity to give” — and we do.

They wouldn’t have to ask you to get a basic sense.

They do use the above to determine pricing, discounts, offers, etc to a mass group. But they don't pinpoint individuals this way.
And this is something I have always found ridiculous about Disney (besides their IT operation). Casinos target individuals — and Disney has such rich info at their disposal. This was part of a semester-long paper I wrote as part of an MBA strategy class years ago. Makes no sense to me. Unless they ARE doing it now in some capacity and none of us here know it.

They are not going to target groups (with the exception of 2) and saying "Come join", they are relying on those interested to come to them.
Makes sense! But why wouldn’t they do a basic ability-to-pay assessment once you send them your interest? Better use of their time and resources than touring large numbers who are curious and would love to join but cannot ultimately do so. And that’s more people out in the world who might violate your NDA — why do that?

I've been told the waitlist is 8 years as of last week.
For DL or WDW? I didn’t think it works quite that way.
