Concierge upgrade at port --success

I've never sailed concierge so like others I cannot compare. I have been up there with my wife to bring FE's and found they were very accommodating to us but when we cruise we usually pick a room we really want. Our first Dream we picked 10166 and cruised when it was available and this one we picked 5522 because we really want to try this room. The flip side is this being our 15th anniversary do we flip at the port if something is available or stick with the room we have wanted for some time? Our kids are too old and are not joining us so we were going to spend our time at quiet cove anyways.

We had 5022 on the Fantasy (the port side version of 5522) and it was perfect for a family of 3. With that dividing wall, it felt like a suite - even had 2 tvs and 2 large portholes. Only downside was no split bath, but we would book any of those category rooms again in a heartbeat, just FYI :)

Ya we are ok with no split bath and just wife and I this time so might be really roomy for us. I seriously would like concierge and if there are still rooms available when we sail we may esquire at the port but I'm kind of on the fence. We've wanted to try this room for a while and finally have it.

We enjoy and utilize the concierge lounge and sundeck; snacks and drinks are always available. Another nice feature of concierge is the ease of leaving the ship on the final day of the cruise; you do not have to wait in line as concierge escorts you off the ship.

.

it makes a difference because with it being just the two of us, we're only in one stateroom....

on our cruise this past july, we were in 3 staterooms..
my kids wouldn't be interested in upgrading to concierge even if 3 concierge staterooms were crazily available.....
they're happy in the porthole staterooms on deck 2 of the Disney Magic/Wonder..

when our kids were young, we actually did go concierge....in the walt disney suite on the disney wonder..
amazing stateroom!!
but with multiple staterooms, i really can't afford it (concierge was much cheaper back in those days)...
and as i said, my kids wouldn't be interested..
but my husband and i definitely are if one's available at a discounted upgrade...
.
Makes sense. Yea, unfortunately on the Dream class ships the royal suites only sleep 5 so your 3 staterooms cannot be accommodated. The only places that make the conversion are the classic with the royal and 2 bedroom suites.

Good luck!

we were 9 this past summer....2 in one stateroom, 4 in one stateroom....3 in our stateroom...we had the fun of having the 5 year old with us....so much fun having a toddler in the room!!
the only downside was not being able to do the late evening adult activities...
rest assured, we'll be doing everything there is on the wonder next year when it's just the two of us..

o of you makes the upgrade more attractive to try?
If you upgrade at the port you are only paying the difference between the two cabins categories. So the number of guest does not impact the cost of upgrading. In reality, since it is a flat rate at the port, it would actually be better to have the kids included.

It may also matter based on occupancy for muster stations and life boats. If the lifeboat only has the safety margin for 2 guests, you can't add 5 to the stateroom, even if the room allows for it.
