Over the years I have tried them all. Was a big fan of ROAM Mobility for a long time, but when Rogers started with Roam Like Home I started using that. I agree that the prices are getting a bit out-of-hand (started at $5/d to compete with the RM), but the convenience factor is great. You DO get better service with Rogers; it actually roams on multiple carriers; ATT and T-Mobile come up most often, whereas RM is only T-Mobile with struggles for connection in some areas (parts of Disney and Universal both had issues).
We usually only have one device (my phone) roaming when down there to limit charges. DW keeps her phone to airplane mode + Wi-Fi only unless we are splitting up, and I take the SIM card out of my tablet. That limits us to mostly $7/d charge.
Also, be aware of your billing cycle close date when calculating maximums. It resets on your billing date, not the first of the month.
