DCL app Navigator question

Hi,
I'm hoping someone here may have experience with the DCL app, and may be able to answer some questions. It would help us with planning.

Is the DCL app active while at the terminal, waiting for boarding? Or not until you are actually onboard the ship?

Also, will the app have navigators/activities and dining information for the length of the cruise, on boarding day? Or does each day's activity just load in time for the next day?

Thank you so much for any help.

If you can connect to the ship's WiFi while in the terminal, yes.

Length of cruise. As always: schedules, menus, etc are subject to change.

So, I used the ap in the port while waiting (boarding was delayed because of the need for a deep cleaning) to look at the times for activities like tastings, etc...when we boarded the times posted in the ap were wrong...so plan with caution

They do recommend refreshing the app several times during the day, to get the latest updated information.

If you depart from other terminals, know that I’ve been able to connect to the Guests WiFi in the Galveston, Copenhagen and Dover terminals while waiting to board. I concluded that when they setup the terminal for check-in, it includes a router that broadcasts the onboard Wifi.

The app can be active as soon as you connect to the ship WiFi. We didn't do that until onboard the ship in Galveston, but probably could have.

As others have mentioned, you can look up activities for the length of the cruise immediately. It's very handy because the app will tell you the other times an activity is being offered, which is nice for decision making.

I have attached (I hope it works) screen shots from my Android on our Nov 2017 Western Caribbean cruise if you wanted to get an idea of what some screens looked like. The app is very useful, not only do we use it for texting (it isn't as responsive as AT&T or Verizon texts) but we also looked up dinner menus for the week, movie schedules for the week and activities. The thing we especially got hooked on was "liking" a movie or activity and then reminders would pop up all cruise for these events.

And you can see backwards of the days past. In case you wondered when that activity was and why you missed it.

Also the app when not on the ship acts as a count down clock. And unfortunately mine now says 302 days until out next one. LOL.

Joe

I remember and see from above screen shots that you can choose items in the navigator app, if everyone has their own device with WiFi. Can you share favorited events with people in your group/cabin so we all remember to attend?
