Disney Cruise Food Question

I have a DD with allergies. She special orders each dinner the night before. She always asks for something on the menu or kids menu just to be modified. She can usually get things but there are exceptions. We do not feel bad about it. It is part of what you pay for. It is one reason we only cruise on Disney.

Allergies are a bit of a different scenario. Also, there is a reason those requests go through a night ahead.

Yes. I believe pp was referencing ordering different foods just because you had read that it is possible.

I agree. Watch Mega Food: World's Biggest Cruise Ship on Netflix and you'll feel bad about ever making a special request again. It is impressive and amazing how hard all of those people work and making extra requests just makes it even harder.

It's in my queue!

I'm also not a fan of seafood. I don't eat any seafood at all, in fact! However, on my 4 night cruise to the Bahamas last year, I had absolutely no problem at all. I don't eat a lot of red meat either. I found there is always a veggie or chicken option.

What I am worried about is finding non-seafood options during excursions during my Northern European cruise... geothermally baked bread sounds awesome- but with trout on it? I'd politely decline.

Well.

The Greek food, we had special lamb cutlets, cooked Greek style, tzazdik an adjustment on what's served at Shwarma station, hummus from palo, rare in MDRs, yes curry was chicken quite easy. Popadoms need special cooking. Rice, yes freely available.
Turkish food, kebabs not the same as Shwarma station, not freely available.
Crab cakes on pirate menu. A bit more freely available from the freezer.

So, do you sit down and tell the server, "hey I want some Greek food today"? How does that work? I can see ordering something from one of the other dining rooms but have never asked for something that is not even on any menu. Do you order the day ahead?

I am a platinum cruiser and the servers know me, basically I tend not to ask, they know what I like, so it's, " how about some Greek food tomorrow night? How about a curry? All off ( any) menus.

The only thing I did ask for, for my children was ( and they do not do this anymore as it got too many requests), was we got Palo soufflé desserts. We got it a few cruises before they stopped it.

Basically, getting to know your severs well.......

Yeah. Getting the crew grub is really about an offer, not a request, and certainly not something where you get to say "I want X" so much as they can tell you what X that night looks like.
