Disney News Recap
So I am going to cover some of the big stories we have covered on these pages concerning Disney news.
1. Disney has officially announced a new eatery called "The Hangar" It will be built in the new area known as The Landing and will be themed obviously to aircrafts.
2. Guest staying at the Swan or Dolphin Resort can now book FP+ 60 days in advance.
3. Annual Passholders not stay at a Disney resort can book FP+ 30 days in advance.
4. Offsite guest can now purchase a Magic Band from multiple locations across property. Magic Bands cost 12.95 per band.
5. Disney is working on making it where you can book more then 3 FP in a day as well as park hopping with FP+.
6. Disney is testing new entertainment at Animal Kingdom in Dinoland. A scientist and his pet raptor Val walk through Dinoland.
7. Maleficent is showing special previews in the 'Sounds Dangerous" show building. It lasts about 18 minutes and is 3-D.
8. The parking lot behind the T-Rex is now closed as part of the change to Disney Springs.
9. The road in front of Downtown Disney is going from 6 lanes to 8 to help with traffic flow.
10. Pollo Compero's closed March 19th to make way for the change to Disney Springs.
11. A new eatery called the boathouse has been planned for The Landing in Disney Springs.
12. Liberty Square has seen some walkway improvements down by the waters edge. This has helped with crowd control.
13. The Yankee Trader in Liberty Square is rumored to be turned into a Haunted Mansion themed gift shop. (Rumor)
14. The Haunted Mansion is said to receive onride photos at some point this year. (Rumor)
15. Big Thunder Mountain is said to close for a few days in May to install onride photos. (Rumor)
16. Pirates of the Caribbean is said to close later this month to add onride photos. (Rumor)
17. Seven Dwarfs Mine Train will have its media event May 2nd at 10:15 AM.
18. Anna and Elsa from the smash hit Frozen moved to Princess Fairytale Hall at Magic Kingdom April 20th.
19. FP+ is now available for Elsa and Anna at Princess Fairytale Hall.
20. Disneyland possibly getting the Main Street Electric Parade from Walt Disney World. (Rumor, Disneyland)
21. Innoventions being painted a new color...multiple colors.
22. The outdoor seating area for Cosmic Rays at Magic Kingdom is fully enclosed.
23. The Hub at Magic Kingdom is being expanded to handle large crowds. This includes filling in the moat in front of Main Street and adding a new ring of walkways.
24. You can now draw the characters from Frozen at Hollywood Studios in the Animation building.
25. Tinker Bell and her friends are moving to Town Square Theater sometime this year. Rumor is now that it might only be Tinker Bell and FP+ will be included.
26. The Friars Nook at Magic Kingdom is now offering new types of mac and cheese. There is a bacon cheeseburger and blue cheese mac and cheese priced at 8.99. The more original version is 5.99 and comes with bread crumbs on the top.
27. Downtown Disney is expanding West Side to add a food truck park. This park will hold the new popular food trucks.
28. Muppets Most Wanted is being advertised at Hollywood Studios in the Muppet Vision Preshow.
29. Incredibles and Cars 3 have been confirmed by Disney. Also Star Wars 7 shooting will begin in May.
30. A new laundry facility is being built on Disney property. No word on its exact use.
31. Kouzzina by Cat Cora is closing permanently at the end of September. A new restaurant will replace it but no word what it will be.
32. Captain Cooks closed on April 9th and will reopen this summer.
33. The Polynesian arcade has closed for good and is not returning.
34. Trader Sams most likely coming to the Polynesian resort.
35. Rumor is that many more rooms are being converted to DVC at the Polynesian. No confirmation yet. (rumor)
36. Disney buys Youtube Maker Studios for 500 million.
37. Boardwalk dance club testing new entertainment options.
38. Epcot hosting a new after hours party for adults only. You can pay to stay in Epcot after it closes and eat and drink.
39. Mark Hamill appearing for the first time at Star Wars weekend.
40. Special character dining being held at two locations for Star Wars weekend.
41. Special Star Wars weekend tour guide can be yours for 500$ a person.
42. New tigers being added to Animal Kingdom to replace the old ones.
