Disney's Club Level (CL) Information & Questions

I can’t do dust, mold or mildew. Immediate sinus/chest infections and sometimes swollen shut eyes. Old and dated are fine; indoor “pollution” isn’t. I had an old room at AKL in January that didn’t bother me. We have WL club level over Christmas, so am hoping all is ok. I wonder if it would be worth me speaking to DSS about my allergies as I have never stayed WL before. Perhaps a deep clean request would better my odds.
My DD and I wouldn't last 5 minutes. We would have asthma attacks.

I feel your pain. Sorry about OT, but I visited Europe for the 1st time since 2002 this last summer. I forgot how bad cigarette smoke was for me. Many dinners and walks were very uncomfortable, and I had to leave a few tables. I hacked like a seal most of the trip. I triple checked every hotel to make sure they were non smoking.

How do I say? Each of us has to do what works for us. Some are early risers or late risers, for example. There's no right or wrong in that, just opinions.

In that spirit, your overall strategy sounds fine. Perhaps I can give you some info though...

FP options often diminish later in the day, but sometimes pop back up again. Always at WDW, MUCH depends on weather. Cold, wind, high heat, rain= lower crowds. Perfect = higher crowds.

I don't put any stock in crowd predictors. They are often wrong. Everyone on these boards can tell you Easter week is typically busy, except when it isn't. I've been to WDW over MANY holiday weeks, crowds vary. Parks will likely be busy fairly early and fairly late, or maybe not. Crowds peak 11am- 4:30pm, but weather throws that off, especially late PM.
******

When you say, "eat dinner in the park" what food choice do you mean? A table service meal-same park = allow 90 minutes, maybe longer.

Quick serve meals also vary, especially holiday weeks. Peak times = lines. If, eating = (I promise I'm not being snarky) "a snack, if we happen to pass a place with no line," then eating can be quick, otherwise even QS meals may take quite a while.

[For us, holiday week noon hungry = snack that tides us over until 2pm/QS lines are short.]

If you are taking breaks, then hopping pre/post-break = no time loss. Hopping park-to-park costs time. HS/Epcot = 20+min (if brisk pace/short line). Other park-to-park hops take longer. Transportation to D Springs takes a while each way via bus. IMO, it = half-day activity.

O holiday weeks, 7D often goes from zero to 2hours inside of 10min. Some rides have short waits, but not all. Flexible is key.

You may or may not be able to use your FP as you have planned above. On your 1st visit, WDW has many distractions. Holiday weeks, expect everything to take longer. Even with a FP, Space Mtn might take a full hour. Restrooms will have waits. A ticket might not scan properly. A ride might break down for an hour. Gift shops have lines.

All those delays are rather unpredictable. Planning to use a FP at the back end of the time window is risky, even for WDW vets.

MANY folks plan to arrive for AM EMH or Rope Drop, but they get delayed because of glitches that are beyond our control. It happens even to those who know WDW very well, and it can be stressful when we have made plans. I'm not saying don't make plans. Just try to keep them flexible, and allow plenty of time for the unexpected to happen.

All this X1000, but especially, "expect everything to take longer."

1. Sometimes there are CMs outside with ipads who can check you in (this seems to be hit miss), but if not, go to the front desk in the main building. If you do OCI, you might be able to just go straight to the SL building ;).

1. Different CL's are slightly different, but we have generally been told we should have an escort on our 1st trip to any WDW CL. On a recent trip, bands did work right away to access the CL floor (we accidentally discovered because we split up), but we didn't get room number until hours later, even then, they didn't work at first to open door.
If you don't see a greeter for CL, you can sometimes talk to front door general greeter, and front desk always works. I have rarely seen much of a line at GF front desk. We often spend time listening to music in the lobby when we visit.

(On our most recent WDW visit, we met an awesome pianist! Talented and super nice!)

I can't help with #2 either. Been too long.

We've never had problems on CL at WL. For us, room perfumes tend to be the more common issue.

A deep clean would probably be a good request to make.

You can almost always request a different room too, if you get one that is musty or has some significant problem, and it is best to request a change right away, before you touch/move anything.

An experience that once partly cracked me up/partly scared us was a time we asked at GF and were told WDW doesn't use lobby air scents. Ugh!

But hey, now we can buy those scents in candle form. Go figure!

(STRONGEST lobby perfume of all is Hard Rock! Phew! Some perfume in the HR rooms too!)

Thank you so much for your feedback. Definately need to be flexible. I'll take note before I attempt to use FP on the backend of the window.

We are staying at BWI, so I'm not too concerned with the HS and Epcot travel. I'll probably waste a lot of money on uber for the other parks; hoping that goes smoothly.

Admittedly, maximizing our RD mornings without FP's is tricky. I've read a lot of RD success stories, so I hope it turns out well.

Thanks. I will definitely ask for deep clean. I may not get a full one, but at least my request and reasoning would be there. WL is pretty much at 100% occupancy for the holiday season for all room categories (especially club level), so I doubt there is much wiggle room with assignments. Perfume scents can be big for me, too; but I haven’t had much trouble in WDW. My husband hates that I can’t deal with the plug in things.

If you hit a time constraint involving MK use Minnie Vans. Expensive but such a time saver when MK is involved.

...they leave beer stocked in the fridge after closing?...

I posted a pic recently.

I should add that this was the only time I’ve ever wandered through the lounge this late.

I’m not the type that goes to the lounge in the middle of the night we typically have a stocked fridge and snacks around.

I don't have the exact room number but it is one of the 1st floor rooms, facing the pool, very close to the end of the hall near the door going out. It's like a low point, and nearish to the water/swampy area close to the cabins and I think that contributes to water standing close enough to have a mold smell in the room. Note, I did not see any anywhere, I think it was just close enough to smell (similar to how you can smell when it's from the crawl space in a house, not inside the house)
Good information - thank you. We usually request to be on a high floor, so hopefully won't be put on the first floor. But you never know! If we're assigned that at check-in, I'll try to get us moved.

Has anyone made a room request lately for CL at CSR? I'm not sure I should bother requesting anything. Are there any connecting rooms in the tower? The only thing I can think of is requesting a quiet, non-connecting room and possibly on the 15th floor. TP room finder seems to say they are all non-connecting but I'm not sure how accurate that is yet.

Also, we get in after the lounge has closed for the night. Has anyone had success with requesting something to be put in their room from the lounge (like water bottles)?

What was the CR issue? We are going there in a few weeks.

So our room kept on smelling like smoke, first night we told the cm’s we were smelling a weird odor and pretty sure it was smoke, they said they’d look into it.......my wife wakes up with a terrible migraine, definitely know it is indeed cigarette smoke we have been dealing with now, so I open both doors to the room, when I did this I could literally see the smoke rolling up from outside our balcony, walked out sure enough smokers........cigarettes thrown on their balcony smashed, a woman enjoying a cigarette.

So we then tell the CM’s how my wife has gotten sick because she is very sensitive to cigarette smoke and affects her asthma, so they start apologizing saying it will get taken care of. One of them mentioned talking to another manager downstairs as well as they could give us a gift card or a room credit for dealing with this......hmmm ok that will surely make my wife feel better....:thumbsup2

Her entire day was shot which in turn made us feel bad for her and tried to just comfort her best we could.

So I go downstairs wait and wait and wait and wait, did I mention I waited?

Glenn comes over asks who I am and says I don’t know why we should need to be compensated for this...I said it was your cm that suggested it......hmmmm well I don’t know why they would do that.

He then says if it has affected us so much he could send some cookies and milk to our room!

I was not polite with my response and have already been in contact with another friend that is far higher up then he will dream to be and is helping with this annoying turned disrespectful situation......

For those that don’t know smoking is not permitted in rooms or balconies and a fine of $250 is to be enforced and $250 for any other room affected by this.

This is an ongoing issue we are still in contact with the proper folks.

That’s awful - both the cigarette smoke and the way that manager spoke to you!

Every time we stay at the CR and I go out on the balcony to relax or watch the fireworks, I smell cigarette smoke. It’s terrible! It’s also hard to see where it’s coming from. Sometimes I just say out loud, ‘stop smoking!’ But I don’t think that helps much.

I hope they do something to make things right for your family and hope they get a new manager since it sounds like the one you spoke with should not be working at Disney!

Hello all -

We are checking in next week at GF CL outer building. Few quick questions.

1. Do we still checkin at main desk in main building or do we go straight to the Suger Loaf building to checkin?

2. On Sunday breakfast, does the GF outter building lounge offer hot items like waffle, pancakes and omelet station? I read somewhere this was in the main building lounge but wanted to check if this is offered in the Sugar Loaf building.

You can do either check in. I usually do OCI and if don't get a text I walk to SL and bang on the door or wave lol.

Same food except they dropped the waffles. They usually have the little egg puff things and oatmeal for hot items.

2. I can't help with this, but hopefully others will be able to give some input :).

Have a great trip :wizard:.

Glad you had a great trip! I can't believe the sticky buns are gone again .

Looking forward to more pics :goodvibes.

I did for both of my recent trips at csr cl.

My first I was upgraded to a deluxe suite when I requested a king bed.

The 2nd one I requested the triangle shaped living area , which i received. However it was an HA room. I noticed it in the app and took a quick peep and went back and said the 20 somethings will want a glass shower and not the old fashioned tub/shower. It took an hour but I got a new room but the rectangle shape.

Requesting stuff to be put in the room can be tricky. All it takes is for someone before you to request a room change and then your room is now theirs with your water.

I have only done suites but they had connecting doors to a std room so yes std can connect. Try non connecting room and/or 15 th floor.

Good luck!

I’m sorry to hear about this negative experience with smokers on the balcony. I’d be pretty upset too. I can’t believe you were offered milk and cookies?! :sad2:

We ran into some smokers at MNSSHP (yes, in the park) on Monday night. My DD has asthma and is very allergic to cigarette smoke. Her airway is still very irritated from the exposure to it. I mentioned it to a nearby CM, who immediately if my DD needed first aid (she didn’t; we had her rescue inhaler) and then went over to confront the smokers. I’m going to consider it fortunate that we’ve never encountered smokers on nearby balconies.
