Do you think it's possible?

My brother has his heart set on getting married at Disney. However, I think we could do the arrangements for much less than I fear the Disney Wedding planners can.

Picture this:

Hawaiian theme-everyone in formal Hawaiin attire but barefoot. (about 30 people including bride and groom)

We rent a pontoon boat and docorate it with red and white flowers. The guests are transported across the lakes from Fort Wilderness to the Polynesian and greeted by a bridesmaid and groomsman who adorn the guests with homemade leis made of red rose petals and white shells and escort them to the white sand beach that has been sprinkled with red rose petals. The boat then returns to Fort Wilderness one last time to bring the Bride, Groom and both sets of parents so that the guests standing on the beach can watch them approach. After the vows, everyone then attends the Polynesian luau for a reception.

What do you think Disney would do if this was done without their prior "permission"?:bounce:

I'm not sure if they'd allow this as there is a lot of boat traffic in this area, with the transportation boats and the watermice. There might be a way for them to arrange this, but I'm not sure if they could even do that. But ooohhhhh what a wonderful idea! :p

Unfortunately, I think that all weddings held on Disney property have to be done through Disney Fairytale Weddings and from what I've heard they would put a stop to it if the event was held without their permission. They may be able to set up a unique intimate wedding if there is a small number of guests (8 or less) for a reasonable price. But, for 30 guests, your brother is definitely looking at a custom wedding with minimum ependitures of $7500 Mon-Thurs and $10,000 for a Fri-Sun wedding, but they would work with the couple to make the fantasy a reality. We decided to have our custom wedding with our closest friends and relatives as opposed to a large wedding in Chicago. It is expensive, but we will actually be saving a lot of money (hall rental alone runs $2000 to $5000 in the city here!) The best advice I can give is to have your brother contact Disney weddings and have them send pricing information to see if it might end up to be reasonable. I have also read that Disneyland weddings are a bit cheaper and more flexible - he may want to check into that too! Good luck.

Thank you for the responses. He used to work at Disney, maybe he needs to go back for the discounts :0)

Sounds wonderful! But, I don't think Disney would allow it. When hosting a Disney Wedding you are permitted to use outside vendors, such as the florist, photographers, etc.. to keep the costs down.

Your brother could also check into having his wedding at the Swan. They have lower costs and more flexible minimum #'s of guests for the intimate packages. Quite a few brides on the Disneymooners list are going with Swan weddings, as opposed to a Fairy Tale Wedding.
Disney definitely does not allow weddings on their property, unless you go through the Fairy Tale Weddings department. The only way I've ever heard to circumvent this was someone who rented a suite at the Boardwalk and held the ceremony & reception inside the suite.
Cheers!

I always wanted to get married at Disney as well, but I have found that it is a bit expensive for our taste (we are gettting married when we graduate college... in 3 1/2 years, and we need the money for us to buy an apartment to get our masters, etc). So we still want to go to Disney... are Disneymoons worth it? Or should we just go to Disney without the package?
