DVC resorts set to open June 22!

As of right now, they are still allowing borrowed points to be returned..there were reports of that.

Unfortunately, no guarantee for how much longer. If you think you arent going, it might be beneficial to cancel sooner rather than later?
We will probably wait until we see what this will look like before we decide, but the DVC site only mentions returning borrowed points used for reservations during the closure period, so not sure if they will give us the option once the resorts and parks are open. Which reminds me what about for reservations for the time when the resort is open but the parks are still closed (6/22-7/10)? I'd hate to be in that situation and get stuck with having to use those points without the option of going to a park at all.

I have heard they have returned points for trips during early July. The policy is no longer listed on the website but I wonder if that was done on purpose since they have not decided when it will end.

Good luck with what you decide.

Hi...I have a DVC reservation at Poly with check-in of 6/20 - are they going to cancel my whole week?

Yes, assuming they are still auto canceling. They may now leave to members. if you are planning to go, just go in and modify and remove those days before the 22nd and you will be fine!

Thank you. I have such a crazy plan that I am so unsure what will happen to points. Had a cruise for June 21 using DVC points. Cancelled right when cruise crisis was happening. Makes points need to be used by 9/30 - now booked WDW and it will be cancelled. Need to see what they do with the reservation points. Thanks so much.

DVC reservations-
I haven't seen in the Covid-19 updates, if temperatures will be taken at the DVC resorts. Does anyone know?

Annual Passes-
If you are fortunate enough to secure a reservation that would allow you to get into the theme park, then are screened with a temp. of 100.4 you and your party will not be allowed in.
No mention of if you'll be allowed to stay at your DVC resort and
what will happen to your points then?

So then you go back by bus to the pool with the 100.4 temp. and an attitude like you lost at the casino.

Seriously, there are a lot of risks for the guest traveling a distance. Locals can go home and wait for another day.

There is no mention of having your temp taken at the resort,

If you get to the park and can’t enter, you will be denied entry. While we don’t know for sure, it is very possible they will not allow you to board a bus, but provide you transportation back to the resort. Could there be forced quarantine? I don’t know and haven’t seen anything as to what happens.

Points? Once you check in, points are consider used. Any early check out results in no points returned, IMO, I don’t see this policy changed.

Thanks for replying.

I was very excited to go back again.
Then we walked through what could damper the trip, just with ride and event closures.
We remembered the disappointment of weather closing outdoor rides during normal park operations.
Disney feels your pain. Dries your tears with fast passes.

Then, we looked at what baggage we'd bring along~
3 months of lockdown and daily remote learning/home schooling,
(congrats Nana and Papa on passing 2nd grade again),
while Sweet T's DM and DD were frontline essential workers,
in my head justifying the expense vs value of limited Disney park availability, today's economy, and
the number #1 thought keeping me sleepless, is, the risk to our health, from even a mild case.
We need a vacation, but, probably not this time of year, Disney.
I will have my emotional breakdown, just somewhere else.

The deluge of rain & humidity while wearing a mask in FL this past week, was a challenge for an adult.
Imagine checking it with any age child? "Everyone!" "Change the mask & sunscreen!" (Do this in your head first)
OTOH,
I've seen a cute bucket style hats like kids wear on the beach, with a thin plastic shield in the front of your face. That might help the kids keep their masks dry and hand off their face. I'll see if I can post a pix of one.

Thanks for listening while I talked myself out of it (during the summer at least)

I think it's more like 12-13 weeks of point losses by the time the DVC resorts reopen. Basically 1/4th of a year. It will be hard to recover from that and some people may just end up forfeiting their points. On the other hand some DVC members won't want to travel this year at all so maybe room demand will also be lower.
I think they may be banking on demand will be low, on the resorts board many posters have indicated if there non DVC resort is shut they are going to be moved to a DVC resort.

I know none of what is happening is "fair" - I pay allot of money to be a DVC member, had I known my accommodations would be moved from a Value resort to a DVC resort I would have paid less for this vacation and banked my points for next year.

That is what my TA friend has to send to all her clients that all resorts will not be opened from the start and that moves will happen...at the start that will be to the DVC resorts.

For how long, they didn’t say and as everything, they said it could change, but they are definitely keeping many resorts closed at first,

Sounds like some people are in for an awesome upgrade!!! pixiedust:

So I have a DVC reservation for Riviera made exactly 7 months out. When the announcement about plans to reopen parks came out I thought "oh well, too late for us, I will cancel". But then a short while later got the email that resorts are opening on 22-Jun. Our ressie is for 26-Jun. My inclination is to keep the reservation and have a relaxing resort stay. But then I realize there is still a 14 Day Quarantine order for the state I live in. Any thoughts on that order possibly being lifted prior to 26-Jun? DVC sure has my address so was wondering if they will cancel those of us coming from NY, NJ, CT?

Someone has posted that the Governor today seemed to indicate that will be going away soon.

I am there July 3rd, from NY, and going with the flow.

Heard any updates on this or is it documented somewhere? Thanks.

It was based on his press conference...so, if you search and watch that, it might give a clue. But the order from yesterday does mention something about things expiring June 30th.

Thinking they will be using AKL Jambo for transferring people from non DVC resorts-- There is no availability DVC there for the entire summer. I didn't look beyond. Every other resort has loads of availability.

Just checked-- Zero AKV Jambo availability in any category until January-- Then there is plenty.....Hmmmm.
