DVC vs. AP discounts

Thinking of purchasing APs instead of PH passes. Checked the Disney website for the scoop on APs. They list the prices and then say something like "various discounts". Well, that doesn't tell me much. They are very explicit when it comes to DVC discounts, but not AP discounts. Can anyone tell me just what the discounts are so I can decide whether it would be better to purchase PH and use DVC discounts on food, etc. or purchase AP. Specifically wondering about Cirque de Soleil. We will be buying Cirque de Soleil tickets this year and I know there are no DVC discounts for that, but didn't know whether there is a discount for AP holders.

Thanks.

A while back starshine made a list that I had sent to me via email of ALL the discounts, both AP and DVC. I'm happy to forward the email to you. PM me with your email address and I'll send it. It's good.

I'll also try to paste it here. (Hope you don't mind, starshine....)

raewhid, thanks so much for sharing the information from another poster. This is just what I needed. I copied it off so I can compare and decide which to purchase.

Rae beat me to it! ;) Glad she was able to pass it along and that it helps!:wave2:

If you ever stay on WDW property paying cash instead of points, AP discounts on rooms (when available) are usually greater than the DVC discount.

The Cirque discount seems to be more seasonal and is only on specific tickets. When we went to the show in Sept, the AP discount was limited to tickets purchased no greater than 14 days in advance (meaning to fill seats that hadn't sold yet) and only category 2 and 3 tickets. So, if you want the best seats, the discount was not valid.

Thank you all. I think that answers all my questions. Doesn't seem to be a dramatic difference between DVC and AP discounts. I guess it mainly comes down to the numbe of days we would be able to spend in the parks within a year.
