Ear Planes

Exactly what are ear planes? Where do you get them? Are they okay for 2-yr-old?

Thanks - have read about them on other posts, but don't know specifics.

I used them for my 8 year old.My DS was 18mos. at the time he would not put them in his ears. so what I did I made sure he was drinking while we were taking off and landing.and he sucks his thumb so that helped. you can buy ear planes at walmart they have adult sizes and child sizes. and they do work great. Hope this helps

We have used them on several flights. They are just like ear plugs, but slightly softer to conform to your ear better. They really helped our little girl to keep from getting 'plugged' ears.
I usually get bad sinus pain while flying and these seem to help out. I bought ours at Walgreens, but have seen them in the grocery store and at Walmart and Target. They do have adult and children sizes, so buy accordingly.

I also saw something really cool at the grocery store yesterday (can't remember the name of it), iit is a pill that you take before you get on a plane to ward off all those airborn germs that get us sick. I always catch a cold after flying, I'll have to keep that in mind for the next flight. It was in the cold medicine aisle.

I have always had ear problems when flying that seemed to get worse as I got older. When we flew to Orlando last year I gave the Ear Planes a try. They worked great! I normally leave an airplane with my ears stopped up so that I can barely hear for 6 to 12 hours along with a headache. These things kept my ears clear and I felt great. I will never fly without them again.

We just got back last week. Ear planes were a god sent. My daughter has numerous ear problems, so I was worried. She used them and did not complain once! I would recommend them to everyone.

Hi! We have used earplanes for several years and highly recommend them....especially if you've got the hint of a head cold or sinus trouble. It also keeps our 4 1/2 yr. old's ears from "plugging" up.
They're soft, pliable and you sort of "screw" them into your ear (doesn't hurt) and like others have noted...they have both adult and children's sizes. We've bought them at our local grocery store (Giant), Target, Wal-Mart, just about any drug store.
After having had severe ear pain on a flight many years ago due to having to fly with a head cold, I will never be caught without Earplanes on a flight! Definitely worth the money!

What dept od Wal-Mart are these in? near the medicines? I've never seen them in there before ..but would be good on our upcoming trip, March 10.

Hi there! We've found the Ear Planes in the pharmacy section of Wal-Mart or Target....usually near the ear plugs. If you don't see them, ask the pharmacist...I'm sure they'd be able to help you locate them! Have fun on your trip!

I love Ear Planes, but be sure to read the directions carefully.. on our way to WDW I didn't really bother to screw the left one in very much and I was in incredible pain. I also find that taking a decongestant like Sudafed along with the Ear Planes ensures a pain-free flight for me

I thought you could find earplanes at the earport.

I think this will help my two kids who will be flying for the first time thanks for the tip.

Maybe they are near the moleskin.

We went to florida in September and I read about the earplanes here! I Got them for my son who was
then 1 1/2yrs old! He left them in for awhile but then wanted them out ! Like the others said they are a small version of an ear plug and soft to cover the whole eardrum! You can also get them at CVS! They are buy the Children's medicines and eardrops where you would find ear wax!!!

Another Great Thing I forgot to mention that I learned on these boards was to Bring Ring Pops they can suck on them as the plane is acsending and descending! My son thought they were great! And on the way home we had a child who was flipping out screaming so hard he was upsetting his stomach! I gave his Mother a ring Pop and within 5 to 10 minutes he was quite!! GOD SENT!!!

...for the tips about the Earplanes, etc. Our DS is 9 and has a horrible time flying due to ear pain (to the point where he was begging me to DRIVE him down to WDW!) I just bought his Earplanes at a local pharmacy (one pair of children's Earplanes cost $3.19). They keep them behind the pharmacy desk --I had to ask the pharmacy tech for them, but they aren't an Rx. So if you can't find them right out in the medication aisles, ask the pharmacist. I am hoping that with some decongestant, chewing gum, and the Earplanes, his trip will be much less traumatic this time!!!
