Every Mile is a Miracle

We finally made it to Friday! I have a lot going on the next 4 days and need some help making adult decisions about one part of it.

So is it worth me getting a 2 day park hopper ticket so we can go both days or would that be a waste of money? I am leaning towards the yolo side of this since I won't be back to Disneyland until spring time. Then the adult in me is like 'But that's another $120 for the park ticket and then spending money"....

Soooo, what would you do?

TOTALLY 2 day hopper!!!

I would just hang out at Uva Bar until I had to go home.

This too is a great idea, love me some Uva Bar, but will probably cost about the same as that second day!

I had the best Dopey simulation these past 5 days:

Friday - 8 mile run, worked for 8 hours, drove to Phoenix, hung out with friends, bed at 1am.
Saturday - up at 7am for a race, ran 8 miles, went for drinks then dinner then more drinks, bed at 12:30am.
Sunday - up at 5:30 for a race, ran 13.1 miles, brunched, showered, drove home, bed at 10:30pm.
Monday - up at 2am, left for Disneyland at 3am, made it to rope drop, stayed until close, logged 12.5 miles at the parks, bed at 12:30am.
Tuesday - up at 7am, parks from 8am - 6:30pm, drove home at 7:30pm, which was really 8:30pm AZ time, got home at 2am, bed at 2:30am.
Wednesday - up at 6:30am and I am currently dying from exhaustion at work. Send a nap time specialist.

I might be dying now, but I survived and had so much fun. Can't wait to share it all with you!

This is the best Dopey simulation I've ever seen. Sure other people are running back to back days, but what about the park training?

Great job!

I'm having Impostor Syndrome, where I don't feel like a "real" runner because I haven't ran in 9 days and I should be focusing on Marathon training and I just don't feel bad about skipping these runs. I'm really excited for Marathon weekend, I just want it to be here already. Plus running in these cold mornings sound terrible, so I just keep on snoozing. My plan is to get 4 of my scheduled runs in this week, including my last long run of 14 miles this weekend!

Also, I still have some race recaps I want to post and my trip to Disneyland! Weeee!

I'm pretty sure I need to rename my life "Impostor Syndrome", so I feel ya. But you're definitely a real runner - look at all the races you've run this year and that big 4-race weekend you have coming up! Non-runners would look at that and just go back to sleep (in fact ... so would some of your fellow real runners).

Yay for 14 miles this week! It's peak week - after this is all gets easier (or at least shorter). Yay!

POST DISNEYLAND RECAPS! I need more Disneyland in my life. I was talking to my sister earlier and she said she's on break in May and my first thought was Disneyland ... but I'm not sure we can make it work because of the way the spring religious holiday season falls out this year. So I need more Disneyland pictures to make me less sad that I'm probably not going.

If you are a running impostor, I have no idea what to call myself! It's that time of year that just gets really hard to get out there. You'll be fine and it's almost WDW Marathon Weekend time!!

Non-runners do not say, type, or think 'long run of 14 miles this weekend' unless it is followed by 'sounds preposterous.'

I think you wouldn't be a "real" runner if you didn't occasionally not want to run... I feel like when I finish my longest run this week, I am not going to want to run ever again ;)

I normally feel like I never want to run again around mile 20 of a marathon, which is less than ideal. :rotfl2:

Thanks for all the kind (and funny) words, y'all! <3

GUESS WHO RAN THIS MORNING AND FEELS AMAZING RIGHT NOW!!??!!?
I forgot how I feel when I start my day off with a run. It wasn't my scheduled 4 miles, just a little over 2, but something to get me going again. Marathon weekend is like right around the corner! YIKES!

12ks of Christmas, Gilbert, AZ - Race Recap
12/8/2018

This race was an afterthought because as I was signing up for the Scottsdale Half Marathon, there was a pop up that said “Would you like to sign up for the 12ks of Christmas that is the day before for an extra challenge medal?” WOULD I EVER!!! And it also worked out perfectly because I had 8 miles scheduled that day anyway, which was the reason I was signing up for the Half, too.
This race was very much so Christmas themed but also it was supporting the local pet shelters and bringing your dogs to run the race was highly encouraged. They had a 12k, 6k, and 1k option. There was a huge expo and market with all kinds of goodies. There was pet adoptions going on. There were so many costumes on doggos and the humans! It was a really fun environment!
I had driven down to Phoenix last on Friday night. I got to my friend’s house around 9pm and we made a trip to Target and Kohl’s, then I was hungry so we went to Sonic Drive Thru for some food and a shake! We went home and watched some Impractical Jokers until about midnight then we went to bed. The race had a really late start but it was about a 45 minute drive from me, so I still had to get up somewhat early.
I woke up around 6:30 and made some coffee for us. My friend had to work that morning, so I was rolling solo to the race, which I am used to by now. I was on the road by 7:15 I think. Honestly, this all seems really early and I just can’t remember so whatever. I woke up and I got ready and I left. About a mile away from the exit that I needed to get off on the weather instantly changed from sunny and nice to foggy and gloomy. Dare I say it was even chilly!! Anyway, I got to the park and took the first spot I saw which of course was the farthest spot away from the start, but whatever. I get to the expo and grab my bib and stuff. I put my bib on and find bag check to drop off the other stuff they gave me. Then I just walked around and checked out all the doggos. So super cute!

Finally the race started at 10am and we were off! I didn’t really look at the course map and boy do I regret that. It was just a bunch of out and backs around a canal and it was THE WORST. They had signs for each 1k that you passed which was a nice way to tick them off. The course had a bunch of groups performing Christmas carols so that was cool. The group of fiddlers were my favorite! But I mean, it was a boring and repetitive course and I wish I had worn my headphones and I just wanted it to be over. Then it was. But I still had to run an extra .5 miles, so I grabbed my medal and kept on running until I hit my mileage.

Finish: 1:15:03

Afterwards, I grabbed my free mini bundt cake (it was lemon and delicious) and then grabbed my stuff and made my way to a bar for a beer and wine.

Seriously, it's SO BIG. I love it so much!

Yesterday I had her fill a box with old toys to make room for her new ones she is going to get for Christmas and it went surprisingly well! She is very excited for Christmas but she is also upset because I am behind in wrapping and the only presents under the tree so far are from my husband to me. Haha. OOPS. Guess I should get on that.

Merry Christmas to you and hubby too! :)
