Fitting scooters in the newly remodeled POP Century rooms seems hard.

Another thank you for this thread! We have a roll in shower accessible room reserved for our November trip and the photos were so helpful. A little worried about that mesh bench in the shower though.

My sister and I just returned from POP where we stayed in a roll in shower room with the 2beds. The wall was bumped out to make more space in the room. This however makes it extremely difficult to get a scooter in and out of the room, we were on the 3rd floor. Although 2 scooters fit into the room with the bed up (with a lot of maneuvering to make them fit) it takes excessive maneuvering to get them out. There was a lot of bumping into furniture, walls and door. There is not a lot of storage space (none in bathroom except sink), and none of our luggage fit under the beds. The murphy bed was not easy to pull down or push up. I could not do it by myself. There are plugs everywhere. The bathroom fan is automatic and only stays on with movement, so when you are in the actual shower the fan turns off. The floors were dirty.

I had the opportunity to speak with a manager looking person who was walking around the building one day. I asked about the bathroom fan. She said it was automatic for humidity. I told her that ours was not humidity but was movement. Then brought up accessibility concerns, and my not having the strength to move the bed. She said that some beds were more difficult to move than others.

Overall all we really disliked the new rooms. My nephew was staying in the resort with his own room, so my sister kept her scooter in his room. If we had not had that option it would have been even more frustrating than it already was. We are going again in the fall and were going to switch to an all star to get the old style room, but saw they will be starting to refurbish those rooms next month. I have not decided what we will do. They do not guarantee connecting rooms and I need someone to be nearby when I shower in case I fall. I am very disappointed.

Was it a problem getting the scooters on the elevator?

The elevator will fit a scooter just fine
Thanks for your response..I can't remember what the Pop elevators are like..last trip was my 1st experience with a scooter and we were on 1st floor at FQ. We had dinner at Poly and the only way from 1st to 2nd floor was the elevator...getting the scooter in was an absolute nightmare that I don't want to do again.

the ones at pop are about the same size as the one in the land ( maybe a little bigger) I was checking in and got on right behind someone in an ECV I had two rolling back ( both bigger then a carry on size) and was able to get on right behind the person in the ECV and we other fit just fine

I’ve used the Poly elevator many times with my scooter. I make sure I am the first one on even if I have to wait for another elevator. I just go straight in. Then I back straight out to exit. I do not try to turn around. I’ve never had a problem.

My scooter by the window with the second queen bed up.
Is that a standard size scooter? Thank you.

And with the bed down -

Space left next to bed -

Space where the chairs are, when the bed is down, could easily accommodate a second scooter. I feel like two could fit there if they were angled. A single scooter there would not stick out much more than the chairs do, if at all.

The permanently positioned bed was softer than the table bed, but both were very comfortable. I do have some photos of the accessible bathroom if anyone is interested, I will post those as well.

My mom has used a scooter at Popmny times and never had problems fitting it in. We were often 3 adults plus one child in a full sized stroller and had enough room.

As recommended by others, it is better to pull onto the elevator straight and then back out. Trying to turn a scooter around isn the Pop elevators is possible but not easy.

stayed in a refurbished room at Pop in September and had no problem with 2 scooters in the room. That said i am an experienced user so your mileage may vary. There is a learning curve to manuvering

Out of curiosity, did you have one of the regular rooms with the angled door or one of the new rooms with the door that is flush to the front of the walkway?

My parents are going in April and for the first time will have 2 scooters. Where did you store each of the scooters? We're hoping to have connecting rooms or at least rooms close to one another so will probably store one scooter in our room just to make it easier for them, especially since they will need both beds.

We had on of the flat to the wall doors not the angled. one at window and one close to bathroom area where connecting door would be.

This past December 2018, I had the handicap room with the roll-in shower and the front door did not have an alcove and had a flush entrance from the window to the door. My room did not have a connecting room and everything along that wall was moved closer to the bathroom leaving more space from the door and the same space in front of the bathroom.

To the left of my room, you can see a regular room with an alcove entrance.

The closet and fridge tower was moved where the regular connected rooms would have had the connecting doors.

Then going to my left is the TV and drawer section. Then you see my wheelchair. I always parked it here the murphy queen bed closed since I was by myself.

And further to the right my wheelchair again with the coat rack. I would hang up my wheelchair charger and jacket here. You can see the door stop at the bottom on the floor. It doesn't look like you could put another mobility scooter here without limiting your entrance and exit through the door.

And then the door and front window. Not a very good photo for seeing space. The queen Murphy bed is up and a corner of the table is showing, but where my suitcase is located is more than enough room for another wheelchair/mobility scooter.

As far as a novice moving in and out of the room with their rental mobility scooter, it might be easier to put their rental mobility scooter in freewheel mode and roll it into what ever space you use for parking. This is much easier than putting it in turtle slow speed and trying to park it in the room for a newbie.

Just another photo in front of the window with my suitcase and laundry hamper with the table instead of the Murphy bed down.

Everyone is going to have a different opinion whether they must use a wheelchair all of the time or a mobility scooter occasionally as a rental.

Plus having two mobility scooters in a room is possible with the Murphy bed down, but four people in the room can get very crowded when moving around the room and wanting to sit in the chairs or the bed.

Some folks push the Murphy bed up when not in use so they can take advantage of the table and two chairs. I would imagine it would still feel crowded, but hopefully, all four guests won't have to be in the room all of the time.

And I have no idea what it would be like with children wanting to run around as two guests staying in the room.
