Dh has qualifed to play in a poker tournament there. I am not sure how long we will be there or even how many days off he has.

We do have some tickets to see some things.

I am wondering about shopping and Disneyland.

I would like to go to places that have Plus size clothing shops and maybe Bath and Body Works. Disney outlets and kids clothing outlets would be good too.

Is there a Sephoras around? How about an American Girl?

Do we need to rent a car while we are there? What is the driving like? Parking?

We went to Disneyland last August and found the driving horrible!! It took forever to get anywhere because of the crazy traffic!!

How long would it take us to get to Disneyland from the strip?

So many questions, sorry. I don't have a clue!!

Disneyland is about 4 hours from Vegas. There is an American Girl store at "The Grove" in LA, it was about an hour or so drive from Anaheim...it's was a pretty amazing store.

As for shopping in Vegas, I love it! My usual spots to shop in Vegas are the Premium Outlets, the Outlet Center and the Boulevard Mall. A trip is not complete without hitting a Bath & Body Works...their stuff is great. Plus size stores would be Lane Bryant, Catherines Plus, Torrid, JC Penney's, Kohls, etc..
For kids clothes I always find good deals at Gymboree, Children's Place, Osh Kosh, Tommy, JCPenney, etc....

I rented a car for my Vegas trip in Jan...it made life easy to get around, and all the hotels have free parking or you can use the valet. Renting a car was cheap, not sure how it works if you want to take the car to California.

There is a Sephora in the front of the Venitian in Vegas

I would not suggest driving in Vegas, horrible traffic very difficult driving there.

We were in Vegas just 2 weeks ago. There is a Bath & Body Works in the Fashion Show Mall across the street from the Venetian.

Driving in Vegas is a double-edged sword. Traffic is indeed horrible. However, the Premium Outlets are a $20 cab ride to get to one-way. It's quite expensive to take the monorail to get from one end of the strip to another. The Deuce (bus system) takes forever to get from one stop to the next, especially in traffic. Since parking is free, I'd lean towards renting the car.

If you do end up renting a car I'd suggest driving it to whatever hotel you want to go to and valet parking it. Way easier than self parking and you get to avoid all the heat that will hit you in July! You don't have to be staying at the hotel to get it Valet parked and for a small tip you don't have to deal with parking it and the long walk from the self park to the entrance.

The outlet mall is a LONG way from the strip and it's a pricey cab fare down and back. I just read that they are increasing their fares due to the price of fuel and it's not almost $25.00 each way to get to the outlet mall. *Don't know if that is really true* but if you have a car it would be easier to get to than using a taxi though a LOT of people do it.

Also if you have a car use the streets BEHIND the hotel/casinos to get up and down faster. The strip will take you forever to get anywhere. There are just too many cars, people and lights.

Another thing......make sure you keep yourself really hydrated. It's hot there in July...usually well above 100 and it's dry so you dehydrate really quickly. Wear comfortable walking shoes and remember that EVERYTHING looks closer than it really is. I've been there so many times and still get suckered into it.

Have fun. DD and I leave in 13 days for 4 days in Vegas and we can't wait!

Most people think the valet partking in Vegas is expensive, but as just mentioned above this is FREE in Las Vegas. Just a tip or two for the drop off and pick up drivers and this is a HUGE time savings.
