Good Buffets in Vegas?

Just back today after five days in L.V.

Saw extensive construction at the Aladdin and its mall.

How is construction affecting the casino? Is it hard to get around with everything going on?

Thanks!

No, it's not hard to get around. Just expect some areas to be boarded up during construction.

For us the Rio buffet is a tradition everytime. :thumbsup2
Luxor is good for breakfast and not too expensive as someone else mentioned.

We usually do buffets for breakfast or lunch so it's cheaper. The dinner prices are so high and we don't eat alot of meat or any seafood, so it's not really worth it for us.

Last time we ate lunch at a buffett off the strip, I am almost positive it was the Orleans, and it was AWESOME. I'll check with DH to make sure that's where it was, but it was really really good, and I'm pretty picky about food.

Stay away from the Imperial Palace buffet as well... My dad got a comp breakfast buffet from them (4 of them) so we went there for breakfast despite our better judgement (who can wreck breakfast, right?). Ugh. I lasted half a plate before I had to..ummmm...expedite my trip to the washroom....and I'm the one with the cast iron stomach!! People usually shorten the the name of that place to IP...we just call it the IPoo. :rotfl2:

We'll be in Vegas and was going to take my parents to Aladdin for the champagne brunch. I don't think I want to do that now since the buffet is a victim of their renovations. Is there another champagne brunch out there that isn't overly expensive but good that anybody can recommend? I'm also looking for a good seafood buffet that isn't the Rio (too expensive).

Best buffets

Bellagio
Wynn
Paris

If you do Bellagio buffet for breakfast, they will do made to order pancakes (I love them with blueberries).

Aladdin use to be on my list, but is currently removed. According to information posted on another site, the buffet was moved to another location to accomodate construction. Apparently, this temporary setup does not match what used to be in place.

The Alladin was our hands-down favorite--but I don't know if it has changed with new owners. The Rio gets my vote for 2nd best--even worth the trip off the strip. For a relatively inexpensive breakfast or lunch we like Excalibur.

I'd say Paris is definately one to try too. It's a little more unique than some.

hands down Le Village buffet in Paris....if I could only pick one buffet to go to it would be this one...but just for breakfast...and go early...the lines for this place can be astronomical

We love Paris, especially for breafast. I really enjoy the made to order crepes. :goodvibes But yes, get there early. When we were there in May they were getting ready to do some construction and redo the entrance and the line area. I don't know if this was done yet. When we were there in May we decided on breakfast since my DD was 6 at the time and they charge adult prices for her age. We didn't want to spend $25-30 for her lunch and/or dinner. :confused3

For seafood, you should check out Todai Seafood. It's located in the Alladin Dessert mall (name?) They will valet park you for free too! It was really good, and more seafood choices than you could ever eat. Alot of sushi too! It can be crowded. Kids pricing is based on their height. It wasn't cheap, but it sure is good.

Last time we stayed at the Orleans and received free buffet coupons. Their buffet is okay-nothing great, just mostly decent food. My DD really loved playing in the kid's play area ($4/hr) She kept telling us to go gamble! Also, we bowled there too!-very fun.

Have fun!

BF's dad lives in Vegas, so we spend a lot of time there. He takes us to Silverton (at the south end of the Strip -- the WAY south end), because it's convenient to his house. Up until this year, it's just been "okay" (but heck, he was paying, so who are we to complain??).

Well, this year, we went to Silverton. The buffet has been completely renovated, and is now called "Seasons." We were so impressed! It is only $13.99 for dinner, and the selection is amazing. There is a salad bar with a variety of salads, an Italian section with a variety of pizzas, pastas, and garlic bread, an Asian section with a variety of Asian-influenced foods, an American section with things like prime rib, pork chops, turkey, gravy, mashed potatoes, macaroni and cheese, and an awesome dessert section with a gelato bar (I think I would go for that alone!) and mini-desserts (so you can eat lots of them). They also have a seafood section which had things like peel and eat shrimp, fried shrimp, and crab. The selections can vary a little (we went twice, and there were some differences, but the different sections don't change).

We thought it was an excellent value, and the food was very good. I have been recommending it to all of my Vegas-bound friends!

(OT, but I'd also like to recommend Terra Rossa in the Red Canyon Ranch Resort -- it's NW of the Strip. This is VERY good Italian food! The quality of the food and service are both excellent. It's a little pricey for some things like osso bucco ($40+), but other items like my lasagna were very reasonable ($14 or so). Apparently the chef won the Hell's Kitchen show -- I don't watch it, so I'm not familiar with it.)

We went to the buffet at Luxor, Paris and MGM. All were good, but if I were to only recommend one it would be Paris. The dessert at MGM was the best. Atmosphere at Paris and Luxor were good. Food was good at all. Luxor was the cheapest of the bunch, but I would go there again no problem. Great salad bar at the Luxor.

I'm glad to hear the Wynn buffet getting so many "top 3" reviews. We're lucky enough to be staying there for one night in a couple of weeks, and are looking forward to trying their buffet. One question--does anyone know if they have a child's price? When we were at Bellagio a few years ago, it was one set price, no matter what age. I don't mind paying $30 for an adult at a spectacular buffet, but when my dd was 5 (and had a cold and would only eat chicken soup  ), it was a bit of an ouch. TIA!

We ate at the Wynn buffet in October, and did not see separate prices for children.

Many of the hotels in Vegas charge extra for the third guest in a room, regardless of age. Some hotels specifically include infants. Vegas is getting away from the family image.

Thanks for the info We have lived here for 12 years now(now moving) and never ate there. Not many places we haved missed. It's a hobby. :thumbsup2 We're in the West just off of Desert Inn/Rainbow with a great view of the Wynn Resort and strip. The Wynn is our favorite buffet for lunch. Last time I noticed, children 3-8 eat at half price.

You mean at the Red Rock Resort. :thumbsup2 It is very good imho and a friendly room manager/chef that likes to mingle with his dining guests. Vegas is not the land of cheap buffets anymore. Have a happy holiday. pirate:

Not a buffet, but during our trip a couple weekends ago, we passed by Ellis Island which is a casion/BBQ restaurant/restaurant associated with the Super 8 Motel next door. I had read about it on Flyertalk/Fatwallet and knew to ask about the steak special that was not on the menu. 10 oz. sirloin, salad, choice of potato, and vegetable for $4.95. Liter of wine $9.00. Steak and eggs for breakfast was $3.49. Ellis Island is a block off the strip at the corner of Flamingo and Koval.

We always like Bally's big kitchen. It is a good value....lots of seafood, good price, not too crowded. The rio used to be amazing, but it has been 4 years since I have gone, so not sure how it is now.

we had no luck at the buffets when we went in September. The best buffet we ate at was breakfast at Luxor. It was really awesome so I guess we were lucky there but dinner was BRUTAL Mandalay Bay was horrible and over priced so was their asian inspired restaurant nearby. The buffet at circus circus was BRUTAL times 1000. Cheap and not even worth it. the biggest surprise was IN N OUT BURGER off the strip. OMG YUMMYYYYYYY!!!!! We ate there the ret of the trip even in Cali we would be excited when we found it. It was such a relief to arrive at Dland and eat Disney quality food. ALthough The blue Bayou was dissappointing the grand Cali restaurants were awesome !!!!!! So i would save some $$ eat breakfast at the Luxot and not waste $$ or time on the dinner buffets. We were disappointed.

We just came back. We loved the Paris buffet for breakfast/brunch. Our intention was actually to do the champagne brunch (Saturday and Sundays) at 11 am but we lined up too early (if you can imagine that....it's that Disney Drill Sarge in me working in Vegas) and we could either come back at 11 (in 20 minutes) or pay for breakfast ($8 cheaper) and have no champagne. We opted to pay for breakfast. The waitress told us to pace ourselves because the brunch food would be coming at 11....so we did. We paid $8 less and still got the crab legs, lamb, turkey, prime rib, souvlaki, crepes, shrimp plus the breakfast food (including eggs benedict and a wonderful tasting chicken vol en vent ... or chicken pie...whichever sounds more tasty).

We'd do that buffet again in a flash.

Somebody mentioned Ellis Island as a good place to eat. I agree...we've been going there for years. However, one has to be aware of certain things about Ellis Island...if you're not a smoker, the atmosphere in that casino (and the restaurant is just off of the casino) is rather harsh. A few minutes in that place and your eyes will start to close up. It's an older building with poor ventilation. My mom refused to go back there despite the good food. We went there a day later to get takeout food (bbq ribs and chicken...another good deal) but they don't do takeout. We had to sit there and wait for the food to come .... and at the same time that it came out, our waiter brought us containers to pack up the food ourselves. (That's sort of ridiculous). Despite that, the food was fantastic and we had so much of it, it lasted us for days. Thank god for a fridge.
