I used it this summer on a 10 hour transatlantic flight and it was great.

I also use compression socks for flights, you can buy them in a drugstore or pharmacy.

Packing cubes get another vote.
Sorry, I'd hate to be seated in front of this.

For the 9-12 group, card games are great - Sushi Go, Uno, pretty much anything by gamewright. A word search or sudoku and markers can be good for long flights, waiting in restaurants etc.
If you have a reader (I don't....) books set in the location are fun - I bought them and usually read them myself.
DD also liked to have some of her own toiletries - lip balm, hand sanitizer, hand cream (like the whole BBW store......) Oh, and a foldable lightweight backpack in her favorite color

Speaking of toiletries...maybe travel sized stuff would be handy stocking stuffers. I have had good luck with https://www.minimus.biz

I usually restock first aid kits and other harder to find travel size items and grab some snacks to stuff in the backpack.

Another idea for travel sized stuff is the target and walmart beauty boxes, or for a fun gift, a subscription to Birchbox

I have two world traveling people I need small to medium gifts for Christmas. After perusing many "best travel items" lists on the internet, it's apparent the list writers either don't travel or travel with a ton of extra stuff. So I come to you, who I know are experienced travelers. My daughter is 20 and travels internationally (after a Singapore study abroad and now has friends all over the place.) A good friend, age 72, travels several times a year out of the country. Both pack relatively light and are low maintenance on makeup and clothes. Any ideas on good items I can get them for Christmas? Even something small like a particular toothbrush cover you like.

Oh, and chargers make great gifts. I have one similar to this that I take to Disney parks. They can give me a full day at the park for me and another person without having to find an outlet.

I also have one of these, and it's been life changing:

I buy little 6-8" USB cables for it, and I can connect my iPad, two iPhones, a pair of headphones, or whatever needs charging. If the ports change (like how the iPad went from Lightning to USB-C), then I just have to buy a new USB cable. It packs small, and you don't have to take a bunch of wall warts with you. I recommend the one with the longer power cord. The one that plugs directly into the wall limits how you can use it in some hotels. The longer power cord gives you flexibility.

Too late to “find” this at Target cause Sold Out
Kringle Kringle Passport is such a cute stocking stuffer for $6 It was in their decorations for tree this year. ..
photo of Santa with his signature and travel stamps dated from around the world.
Target please restock next year.

I don't have a link for it, but on a recent trip to Europe my husband and I used large inflatable pillows that are designed to set on the tray table in front of you. The pillow has an opening for your face, and openings on the side for your arms to "cuddle" it. So you lean forward and rest your face and body in this pillow. I can NEVER sleep on a plane, but on our long flights this enabled me to at least sleep for an hour or two. And you can also use the pillow on your side, if you are in a window seat.

I used one of these on a trip to S. Korea and loved it; looks stupid but worked great. Slept great until I drooled and it dripped on my arm.
this is the one I have.

Never travel without this journal. Sure the tech savvy could use iPad of phone but it’s so much easier to actually write. Routine to journal the day when we return to the hotel at night. It is so fun to look back trips later and remember everything we did. We use a page for each day. We’re on our 2nd one. Can also find on amazon for same price with free prime delivery.

A travel journal was the best advice ever given on Disney Cruise Ship listening to Joe Rhode lecture and great advice to include simple sketches to jog your memory.
Great idea for young travelers too.

Thanks for this suggestion! I just ordered one for each of my daughters.

I travel quite a bit and a few things I love are my charger organizing pouch (it has different pockets and separators to keep my chargers tidy), a folding reusable bag that I take when I go to markets, a collapsible water bottle, and a nifty undergarment bag with separate pockets for clean and dirty items.

I'd double down on the collapsible water bottle. I love mine and I only take it traveling. I got the Hideaway, but there are a bunch to choose from.

I love to pick out a new perfume for each major trip. Then when I wear it again, I associate the memories of that trip with the fragrance. I use Scentbird for my travel size perfumes. It is a fantastic monthly subscription service. Great way to try out new scents and perfect for your carry on It is a $15.00 a month. A couple of months subscription Would be a wonderful gift!
