Considering making exchange for week in Hawaii summer of 2002 . Will need 2bedroom on beach. Need suggestions on which resorts to choose from. Would like to have resturants on site or close by,activites for teenager, and ac? if we need it?

Sands of Kahana, Maui Schooner, Lawaii Beach, Both of the Sunterra, Marriott Kaui and Marriot Maui will all have some type of beach though most aren't very suitable for swimming it appears.

Cliff's Club, One Napili Way, Kona Coast, Club Intrawest will not have a beach but in many cases may have ocean veiws.

Several of the resorts do not have AC and the nicest resorts (Marriott's) don't have full kitchens. Remember that as an exchanger, the chances of getting an oceanfront room with a great view are not very good. Even if the resort is ocean front doesn't mean that the room you get will be. If that's important to you, you may want to look at other alternatives like a direct exchange or one of the independent exchange companies.

I asked this question awhile ago and go mixed reviews from people. Mostly what the previous poster (Dean) has said is true. No AC in rooms, Kitchens etc.
My understanding is that the value really drops when you transfer outside of the Disney Collection in most cases. You can search by my user name to see the responses I got for my original post

Knix, I'm new to DVC but I do know Hawaii a little bit. I'm not crazy about any of the timeshares listed but if you have the points, I'd use them at Mauna Lani or Kapalua as both are deluxe resorts with nice beaches- they are a little out of the way, kind of self contained areas. I know a great condo complex on Maui that is not timeshare- it will save you alot compared to a hotel email me if you're interested.

I know this is totally offtopic so please forgive me. But I am cracking up just looking at your Jersey icon, mypanni. Has anyone else every noticed that the state looks like a left-facing silhouette of Alfred Hitchcock's head and torso? Oh well, maybe the chin is a bit too receded. Thanks to all for your responses. I know that Kapalua Bay and Mauni Lani Bay are part of the Concierge Collection And after talking to MS I understand that these are hotel rooms. But is it possible to rent one of the villas at Mauni Lani as an exchange or just as part of the Concierge Collection? <IMG SRC="/infopop/emoticons/icon_confused.gif" alt="confused">

I've stayed at the Maui Embassy Suites...great for teenagers! WBUt, you will not get an ocean view room (exchangers never/rarely do). 2 bedrooms are extremely rare too (we took an exchange for 2 1-bedrooms to accomodate everyone)! There is alot to do for teenagers in Maui and Oahu. I'm not sure about the Big Island, we plan on going there in 2002.

I have a 2 bed/2bath at the Imperial of Waikiki, 1 1/2 blocks from the beach. I would consider "trading" DVC pts equal to a 1 bedroom for 1 week for the Imperial of Waikiki (I am also a DVC member.) Email be privately if you are interested @ bdurstta@aol.com
