Help me choose our dinners...please.

@rentayenta Your dining choices look great. The Yachtsman is excellent. The onion rolls with roasted garlic is heaven, and so is the truffle mac & cheese. They allow you to switch up your side with any offered, and the truffle mac is what you want.

At Raglan, get the Ger’s bread pudding. It’s great stuff and served with two sauces (vanilla and butterscotch) that are the most delicious things you’ll ever put into your mouth. This dessert is so good, it will change your life.

Have fun and welcome back to the Dis. :)

We haven’t been to the Grand Floridian Hotel ever so that might be a fun option! Sadly we are one of those that had a terrible experience at Coral Reef. It’s a beautiful restaurant and the fish tanks are so cool but the service was some of the worst we’ve encountered. I don’t remember the food.

It’s a go! We love good food and good music. Do they do live music ever?

That’ll be us too. party: We enjoy Irish whiskey.

Il Mulino looks really good! I’ve added that to the list.

Where is Ample Hills?

Love Sanaa too! They have a great wine list. And that bread service.

My list is coming together but subject to change. I spent this raining day reading menus.

Here’s what I have chosen. Any strong negatives to any of the below?

Jiko
Il Mulino
Tiffins
Raglan Road
Yachtsman Steakhouse

Thank you to everyone again for the replies!

That looks like an amazing list. We have eaten and enjoyed all of them except have yet to try Yachtsman Steakhouse.
Enjoy!

I love your updated list. All great choices!!
Il Mulino is the best Italian we've had at Disney and service was top notch!
Have a great time!

They start serving mimosas at the door and they are unlimited throughout the meal. They are probably made with a Roederer non vintage sparkling brut since that shows up on the dinner menu but don't hold me to the assumption, LOL. Last trip we had Sunday brunch at Narcoossee's and wuvved it (they made a complimentary Bloody Mary to die for; CG charges separately for their version but if it's anything like the one at GF...I'm game) so here's hoping CG lives up to the memory of the other eatery that no longer offers brunch as of mid February.

You like fish so another strong possibility is Flying Fish. I can wax rhapsody about that place (and have) so at this point (I'm getting hungry) will just say read the menu, check out reviews and go. One of the most elegantly conceived restaurants on the property once you get past the misleading exterior signage on the Boardwalk. Ate there twice last trip; once with an ADR and the 2nd time as a walk-in because the memory of the restaurant's offerings were calling us.

The only steakhouse we've eaten at on property is the Boathouse so far. Excellent seafood raw bar and steaks. Desserts eaten were simple but made from quality ingredients. We seem to always go for the ice cream and sorbet desserts there.

ETA - I'm thinking of making a ressie at Yachtman's this trip and the big differences I notice between it and Boathouse is one offers a raw bar and the other doesn't. As well one has aged beef and the other doesn't. I'll be discussing with the man whether he wants to try something different and make a decision accordingly.

Thank you so much! I looked at Flying Fish and now it's a toss between there and Yachtsman. DH loves his fish. I do too but given the choice, I'll choose a steak every time. Boathouse offers like a raw oyster bar? Rockefeller is his favorite (I realize they get baked).

I am going to check out the Boathouse menu.

I love a good Bloody Mary. I may have to add brunch in somewhere.....brunch is my favorite.

When is your next trip?

Thank you! I lovvvveeee truffle mac n cheese. The best I have ever had was at the old Club 33 (no I am not a member). Like seriously to die for. :cloud9:

And bread pudding is my favorite dessert of all-time. Is it huge? DH hates bread pudding (anarchist) so I'll be going it alone.

Thank you for the welcome back. I hang out on the Disneyland section mostly and follow a dear friend's trip reports. Its fun to be in this neighborhood again.

The menu looks fantastic! Kinda sad we can't use any discounts but thats ok. We share a lot and Italian food is always such a good one to share.

Il Mulino is at the Swan.

@rentayenta I remember your username from back in the early 2000s. IDK why other than it’s a distinctive name.

The bread pudding at Raglan is an average size. Not tiny, not huge. What sets it apart are the sauces. They are phenomenal, separately and together. Just seriously delicious however you use them.

Yes, I've been on these boards since 2007. Time flies.....

The best bread pudding I've had, believe it or not, is at Mimi's Cafe of all places. Their butter whiskey sauce is incredible and the bread pudding part is their homemade bread. Incredible. I am looking forward to trying Raglan's!

Hard choice there!
After showing a few pics to the man (read reviews on my own) I'm looking to make an ADR @ Yachtsman. He was a little leery as there is no raw bar but when he saw the cooked seafood offerings (seafood plateau) fell in lust;).

I guess if I was celebrating a life event and the current choices were between Yachtsman, the Boathouse and Flying Fish....I would choose FF.
My reasoning?
All three restaurants offer credible chops and food from the sea; have consistently good service for the most part and are easy to access transport wise.
FF's distinctions are in the dessert department, overall presentation that points to the future and it has the edge when it comes to the decor/ambiance that can make for a special meal that transcends the norm but remains within today's ...comfort zone.

This is my completely biased opinion:D.

Our next trip will be a celebration of my 17 y/o niece's HS graduation and include our 12 y/o DGD (constant travel companion) and 9 y/o grand nephew. Our WDW start day will be the 4th of July 2018 and I'm still punching numbers as to it's end. Currently it's 07/10.

The menu at Flying Fish does look wonderful and I paid close attn to the desserts. My girlfriends said The Boathouse is awesome! Silly first world problem I know. ;) I’m torn.

Your lucky your man will look at menus, mine says: choose wherever, I want to be surprised. Lol.

Your trip sounds fun! Nice long trip. :cloud9:

Hi all. DH and I will be returning to WDW after a 6 year hiatus. I know there are so many new dining options. We will have 5 dinners and one being an anniversary dinner. DH says we *have* to go to Raglan Road one day/night; he thinks he's Irish, he was adopted, long story. :lmao: He loves all things Irish.

We are staying at AKV so Jiko or Sanaa are strong maybes though we have dined at Sanaa.

We are not picky, no allergies, he's more of a foodie than I am, and we like to imbibe. We will be there this August. This trip is for our anniversary.

:thanks:
Must ask: DDP or no? Makes all the difference in the world.

Hehehehe...same man mold. This one will only look at pictures, if they appear "tasty" then he tells me to book it.
I think which ever restaurant you choose will be the right one for you.
Have fun out there!:)

No DDP. DDP doesn’t make sense for us. We always share and unless it’s a longer meal, the non-alcoholic drink goes to waste. We did it once with our children when it was still a screaming deal in like 2007 I think. We ended up (between the 5 of us) with 20+ leftover snack credits. Lol!

OK - no DDP :). Based on this? Our Favorite Restaurants (dinner). All SIGS, rough order of quality:

Shula's (Dolphin)
CA Grill (Contemporary)
Artist Point (WL)
Citrico's (GF)
Il Mulino (Swan)
Narcoossee's (GF)

Party of two, dinner..... about $250. With 20% tip. While not all take DDP? ALL accept TIW.

Number ONE, is of course V&A. But V&A is so far above all of the listed Restaurants in both food offering and price. V&A, party of two, is pretty much a $600 plus experience :).

BREAKFAST? Please - head to Whispering Canyon (WL) :). About $40, party of two.... fun, stunning food, GREAT way to start the day :).

DW and I cheat - with these offerings? We never eat Lunch :).

Now, we are Older - children grown up. OUR favorites may be totally unsuitable for a Family with Hungry Children :).

All personal opinion - I'm not necessarily right, no one else is necessarily wrong.

Thanks! V&A is not in the budget this trip. One day.......We just did the Chef's Counter at Napa Rose at the GCH at Disneyland and it was amazing. With DH's CM discount I think it was $250 total with 2 cocktails, tip, and wine flight. We saved about $100 per couple. :woohoo:

Thank you for the breakfast tip. We are flying a red eye in from Los Angeles and I was thinking about having a big breakfast when we arrive before passing out by the pool. I will definitely check out Whispering Canyon. Any other thoughts on breakfast out of the parks?

We eat two meals a day too when at WDW; there is just so much food.

We are older too, 52 and 49, no kids this trip, the youngest will be 17.

Thank you again. :)

If you are considering Jiko, why not consider the Wanyama Safari. It is a special event with a special price, but we thought it was a good value for what you got. We did this last Thursday. You check in at the podium at Jikoat 3:30. There will the two of you plus at most 10 other guests. First you will be served appetizers and iced roibos tea in the wine room. At 4 PM, two animal care experts will escort the group to a safari vehicle. You get in the back of the truck, sit on padded benches, and get a 90 minute tour of the savannas around the AKL. The guides are the zoologists who take care of these animals every day. You get to see lots of animals up close and get lots of information about them from the experts. Then 5:30, you return to Jiko. The group is seated at a large table in the middle of the dining room and you are served a multi course tasting meal with samples of many items on the main menu plus some things that are not on the menu. I recall we had and amuse bouche, bread service, an appetizer sampler, a sample of main dishes plus side dishes, and a sampling of desserts. So much food. The chef came out to explain each course. Some are served family style, others you get your own sampler. There are different wines served with each course (3 or 4 different ones, I don't recall for sure). There was so much food we couldn't eat it all. Then you get a little gift bag at the end. Our party broke up just before 8 PM. The price is steep and you must pay when you make your booking. But note that the price you pay includes everything including tax and tip. No money was collected at all the night of our event. If you are looking for a special night out, your could consider this. Note also you can't reserve by Disney Dining. You have to call a special number for booking events.

We also did the Rivers of Light Dining Plan at Tiffins. It is a fixed price meal that includes any appetizer, any entree, and and dessert from the menu, plus a non-alcoholic beverage. I got the most expensive of appetizer (the charcuterie board and Wagyu Steak) so I probably saved money over ordering ala carte. Plus you get prime seats for RoL with no waiting in line. Because you have to dine several hours before the show we had dinner in the mid-afternoon, but if you are only eating a couple of times a day, that an a big breakfast may be all you need.

We went to the Kona Cafe for Breakfast last week. We have always enjoyed that. There really are not a lot of table service breakfast options that are not character buffets at WDW (in or out of the parks). I was told that Sanaa has a good breakfast but we did not eat there. I was told that you order like counter service, but eat in the dining room like table service (and it's a very nice dining room with views of the savannas, although there may not be many animals out first thing in the morning). Also for a snack, desert, breakfast or sandwich I must go to Les Halles Boulangerie at France, EPCOT. I swear some day I will just go down the line and order one of everything.
