Honeymooning on the Fantasy SWDAS *COMPLETED 3/7*

January 9th - Jamaica Part Two

This went on for a while and we never really did find out what happened. We had asked the concierge team if they knew anything and they said it was about a crew member, so I guess one of them had missed the boat? Not really sure. They had waited a really long time before finally giving up and leaving.

upload_2019-2-8_7-30-24.png

It was cool watching them put the gangway away. The railing collapses and the whole thing is automated as it's pulled inside the ship.

upload_2019-2-8_7-31-9.png

Back to the concierge lounge for some macaroons. I wanted to try all the flavors they put out. Some had no taste, some were really good. I liked the coffee flavored one and the raspberry one.

Bye Bye Jamaica.

upload_2019-2-8_7-32-27.png

Dinner was in Animator's Palate tonight, with the special show.

Spoilers on the show:

upload_2019-2-8_7-33-3.png

You draw a figurine that will be put up on the TV at the end of the meal and it'll dance. It's cute and I'm really happy they finally got rid of their awful shortened menu this night to accommodate the show. It was a normal menu again.

upload_2019-2-8_7-34-33.png

My awesome drawing, looks like a 50 year old woman on vacation :hyper:

upload_2019-2-8_7-35-27.png

I think DH's looks like a yeti.

upload_2019-2-8_7-35-55.png

My favorite piece of silverware is this little paintbrush butter knife. One day I'm going to buy these.

The dipping sauce for the bread.

For the shows timing you did have to pick your dessert when you ordered your meal.

Mickey showed up and announced that a special show would be happening later on.

upload_2019-2-8_7-40-23.png

They kicked off dinner with the song Be Our Guest, which is also how we started our dinner at our wedding :)

I liked a lot of things on the menu tonight.

upload_2019-2-8_7-41-7.png

The chicken Satay was delicious.

upload_2019-2-8_7-41-31.png

This was pasta filled with mushrooms and were delicious.

upload_2019-2-8_7-42-28.png

DH got the ahi tuna.

upload_2019-2-8_7-42-56.png

I got the soup, which was delicious. I had originally planned on getting the lobster bisque, but was advised against it by our servers. They have been right about all the other food so I decided to skip it. This soup was really good though and nice and hot, which they double checked since the other soup from the other night had not been.

January 9th - Jamaica Part Two

upload_2019-2-8_7-44-49.png

DH got the romaine wedge and ate basically just that and left all the veggies on the plate.

upload_2019-2-8_7-45-36.png

SURPRISE! I got my pasta dish again. I hadn't really liked any of the main courses items and had decided to forgo them all and was surprised with this beauty again.

upload_2019-2-8_7-46-24.png

DH got the lamb. Sorry about the weird pink tinge to all the pictures, the lighting in the restaurant that night was a little different.

It was now time for the show!

upload_2019-2-8_7-47-46.png

DH's figure dancing on the screen.

upload_2019-2-8_7-49-2.png

I thought the show was really cute.

upload_2019-2-8_7-49-29.png

I went with the creme brulee cheesecake, which was really good!

upload_2019-2-8_7-50-1.png

DH's dessert. He enjoyed it, but didn't finish all of it.

I think we frazzle our servers because we finish our meals super fast. When we got up to leave they chased us down to give us our drawings back. Since it's just the two of us our meals don't take long and I don't want to spend hours eating dinner. I figured eventually they would get used to this, but I think they wanted us to hang out longer.

upload_2019-2-8_7-52-20.png

Came back to this cutie.

upload_2019-2-8_7-52-50.png

I was super excited for the show tonight, it was a hypnotist. I've heard of other cruises getting these, but I'd never been to one. I thought about participating too.

upload_2019-2-8_7-53-37.png

Love the BB8 drinks, they are so cute!

upload_2019-2-8_7-55-0.png

We chose seats next to the isle to possibly have a chance to go on stage.

They asked for people to run on stage if they wanted to participate and a TON of people ran up there, I decided not to when I saw the stampede. People had to grab chairs and whoever wasn't seated at the end had to leave the stage. He did do a test to see if people could respond to hypnosis and told the audience they could participate too if they wanted. Some people couldn't go under so he had people who were able to be hypnotized in the audience replace them.

This show was awesome and hilarious. I hope I can see it again one day. I'm not sure if I can be hypnotized, I tried and it didn't work for me in the audience. Highly recommend going to this show if he's on your cruise.

When we returned to our room we found a little gift hanging outside it.

upload_2019-2-8_8-1-57.png

It was a gift from the cruise director Lee for celebrating our honeymoon with Disney.

upload_2019-2-8_8-2-28.png

This was inside the bag. So sweet! I love that he remembered us.

Up next Star Wars Day at Sea...

We were on the Fantasy cruise right after your's. We were at the airport the day before ours when the news hit about the illness on the other ship, not something you want to see right before you go on a cruise. I felt bad for those on the ship that weren't sick, sounded like they made everyone stay in their cabins. It's good they did that to stop the spread, but it would still suck, at least they were all refunded.
Do remember what kind of soup that was at AP, looks good. I always get the same things, we'll be on Fantasy again next year and I'm determined to try different things. That hypnotist was on our cruise also, dh and dd said he was really funny. I went to do something else so missed him.

It was white cheddar and broccolini soup with baguette croutons, it was really good definitely recommend it. I could imagine hearing about a massive norovirus outbreak right before you got on a cruise would be a little nerve racking. I don't think they forced healthy people to stay in their rooms, just those that were sick, but it would definitely be a bust of a cruise, they missed all their ports except the private island stop and returned a day early. It was really nice they were reimbursed the cruisefare, but some people can only take off for one vacation a year so that would really suck if that was it. If the hypnotist is on your next cruise you should try and go see him.

Yum, that soup sounds good. The salad your dh got sounds so good also, I LOVE feta cheese and olives, I don't know how I missed out on that. I got the shrimp and pea salad, it was OK. Our next cruise is still 11 months away and I'm already planning on what I'll eat on it!! lol!! Looking forward to hearing about your SW day. We aren't really fans and have done 2 SW cruises and will do another next year. Although I don't care about SW stuff it is kinda fun to see how others dress up for it. And I'll admit, the ship does seem to have an extra sense of excitement on that day. I got in a full elevator on ours and was the only person who didn't have either a costume or at least a SW t-shirt on. Did you get your pic taken with Chewbacca? (not sure if I spelled that correctly). I'm nearly 6 ft tall. And he was towering over me. I can't figure out how they had someone that tall for him, had to be close to 7 ft or taller. I looked at him in the face, figuring his eyes would be fake, but no, they were real people eyes. He even stared me down, because I said something like, "holy cow, you have real eyes, man you're tall" It was pretty funny, but I was just so shocked!! Anyway, did you notice this? I'm still wondering if they had someone that tall in the costume or if he was on some kind of stilts or something. Either way, whoever was in there was really great at interacting with us, he had us laughing so hard.

I guess the island was worried about the disease spreading and wanted to keep it contained.

Well, also spreading to the Fantasy! It's so contagious, there's a good chance someone on your cruise might have picked it up by coming in contact with them.

I had originally planned on getting the lobster bisque, but was advised against it by our servers.

My dad went against that recommendation once. He regretted it and said it was terrible. Good choice on your part.

Just got caught up on your report. We are booked on the Fantasy for November, and reading the reports helps the time go faster. This is a great report! Love all the pictures! Only now you have made me jealous we aren't going Concierge. :worship:This will be our 10th Disney Cruise. Maybe one day!

I totally look at the menus ahead of time to see what I'd like to order throughout the cruise. I'm trying to convince DH to do a last minute Disney cruise that leaves in two weeks lol. There's a good Florida resident discount on it so he might say yes.

We did take pictures with Chewbacca and he was crazy tall. DH is 6'3'' and he towered over him. What I think they do is find someone who is really tall and then give them high platform shoes to wear to add like six inches or something. I Googled the height requirements to play that character and you have to be between 6'6'' and 6'8'' so I guess the guy was truly very tall.

Well, also spreading to the Fantasy! It's so contagious, there's a good chance someone on your cruise might have picked it up by coming in contact with them.
That is true. I read online that a lot of people from that ship were blaming Disney for not being allowed off. I don't know how much say Disney got in the matter though.

My dad went against that recommendation once. He regretted it and said it was terrible. Good choice on your part.
I don't understand why they offer food that isn't good on their menus, especially if it's a consistently bad item that even the servers steer you away from. And it's a shame they mess up that soup, I really love it.

Have fun on your cruise! I'm always reading trip reports on here between vacations, it definitely helps build the excitement. Glad you're enjoy my trip report :) I'm trying to convince DH to do a last minute cruise in two weeks, it's a good rate so we'll see if I can convince him. You'll be Platinum now. Wow 10 cruises, this was my third one. Sailing in Concierge is really awesome, a good way to check it out without spending an absurd amount of money is to go on the shorter cruises on the Dream, that was how I did my first one. It's still a lot of money, but it's definitely less than the 7 day. I don't think we'll be doing concierge again for a while.

Enjoying your report! We are going on our first cruise on the fantasy and I’m a little nervous! Thanks for posting the menus especially the MDR breakfast one we are definitely going to try that!!!

Don't be nervous, you're going to have a great time! If you have any questions let me know, I've been on 3 Disney cruises, but like 20 other cruise line cruises so I know a lot lol. Definitely pace yourself with all the food, there is a lot! A I definitely ate way too much on this cruise :)

January 10th - Star Wars Day At Sea

When I first booked this cruise a year before sailing it hadn't been announced as a Star Wars cruise yet. DH and I really like Star Wars, we've seen all the movies and enjoy the ride at Disney World. We booked all the Character meet and greets on this day, as well as an adult makeover experience at Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique to become Star Wars Characters. I have always wanted to go in there and get made over as a princess, unfortunately they have an age limit so I'll never get to experience that. I jumped at the opportunity when I saw they did it for adults. We booked the first time slot of the day so we'd be ready to go for all the pictures we'd be taking.

upload_2019-2-12_7-12-22.png

Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique is located on the 5th floor near the lobby. The ship had transformed over night into Star Wars. The music being played in the halls was from the movies.

upload_2019-2-12_7-13-46.png

They held BB-8 Races throughout the day in the lobby. To sign up they have people walking around with clipboards and you just give your name. I don't think it was difficult to get a slot since they were holding so many competitions, if you're interested. I admittedly thought it was going to be another baby race with them in BB-8 outfits...only slightly disappointed.

upload_2019-2-12_7-15-11.png

upload_2019-2-12_7-15-30.png

There were weird color lights happening in the lobby so that's why my picture looks like this. There is a guy trying to fix the head of BB-8 that kept falling off.

The place opened at 9am and I had been pretty sure we had tickets for 9:15am, but DH insisted they were at 9am. I was right, but they took us anyway since we were the second people in the door and a line hadn't formed yet.

upload_2019-2-12_7-16-55.png

upload_2019-2-12_7-17-17.png

For the adult package you get to pick which character you want to look like, it comes with a shirt (they were all pretty terrible) a hair design and makeup. You also get a name-tag and pick what it wants to say. I had rebel written under mine and DH had Captain. Our names were written in a Star Wars language that they give you a decoder for.

The guy in front of us was really particular of his name-tag. He did not want one that was scratched or damaged in anyway. They had to take out the giant bucket of name-tags to let him go through them to find the perfect one. We saw him later on and he wasn't even dressed up? :confused3

upload_2019-2-12_7-20-2.png

I picked Princess Leia to dress up as. I really wanted my hair in the two buns. I didn't end up wearing the shirt and wore a black shirt with sparkles all over it that looked like stars instead. The lady who was doing my hair and makeup turned out to be the first cast member we had met on the cruise who had escorted us to concierge. She remembered me and was telling me how this is her normal job. I told her how I was sad I couldn't ever be made into a princess and she told me to come back the next day for some pixie dust on my hair. (I forgot to go back )

DH was dressed up in Poe Dameron costume and wore his shirt the whole day. He didn't really have any makeup done. They normally will give a guy a beard, but he already has one so they gave him a scar on his cheek. Overall it was fun, I think I got more out of it than DH, but he did like his shirt, I forgot to take a picture of it. I loved my hair and got so many compliments throughout the ship. I don't think many people realize adults can do this so everyone thought I did my own hair.

upload_2019-2-12_7-24-38.png

While leaving I saw some sand people. This was the only time I saw them throughout the day.

We went back to our room for a little bit before our first character meet and greet.

upload_2019-2-12_7-25-25.png

They give you a special Star Wars Day At Sea throw on the bed. I had DH double check if we could keep it or not. Just so you all know, it is for you to take home :)

upload_2019-2-12_7-26-25.png

In the concierge lounge they have a little Storm Trouper figurine.

January 10th - Star Wars Day At Sea

We headed back down to the lobby to take some pictures. The concierge team told us about an activity where you try and find Porgs around the ship. There were little clues of where they have been.

upload_2019-2-12_7-28-9.png

upload_2019-2-12_7-28-29.png

Porgs had been here apparently. It seemed like a cute game, we didn't play, but we did find a few of the locations.

upload_2019-2-12_7-29-7.png

I forget what these guys were called, but they are the bad guys in Star Wars. They were talking to a group of kids about how they need to be loyal to their side.

upload_2019-2-12_7-29-54.png

So I think this might have been a guest dressed up? I'm not really sure, many people were taking pictures with her. There were quite a few guests who had amazing costumes around the ship.

upload_2019-2-12_7-30-47.png

Line to meet Darth Vadar. He can only be met if you sign up ahead of time for a ticket. We had a morning time slot for him. They wouldn't let you get in line if you showed up too early.

upload_2019-2-12_7-31-34.png

upload_2019-2-12_7-31-55.png

This meet and greet was held in the Tube.

upload_2019-2-12_7-32-23.png

I was glad it was Darth Vadar instead of Kylo Ren. I like the older characters better and Kylo Ren always seems to be the one meeting people at Hollywood Studios.

upload_2019-2-12_7-33-11.png

While waiting in the next line I noticed the floor by the Animator's Palate elevators have pencils and paintbrushes, how cute.

upload_2019-2-12_7-34-12.png

It was time to meet Chewbacca now. His meet and greet was in Animator's Palate. So was C-3PO and R2D2, but they were on opposite sides so you didn't see each other.

He was super tall! It was like hugging a bear when we met him.

We had a break in the character meetings to go to Palo brunch. I didn't really want it on this day, but it was this or nothing so we chose to go. We went up to deck 11.

upload_2019-2-12_7-37-24.png

They had been doing some sort of skit when we arrived and it had just ended so the Storm Troupers were leaving.

upload_2019-2-12_7-38-14.png

You can't tell from the picture, but he was interrogating me for being a rebel spy, it was fun!

upload_2019-2-12_7-38-52.png

I had forgotten ice cream was served up here, we would be back a few times.

upload_2019-2-12_7-39-25.png

I just love these drinks, BB-8 is so cute.

upload_2019-2-12_7-39-54.png

upload_2019-2-12_7-40-7.png

They also have Dole Whip on the ship. I didn't try any, though, I had heard it's not as good as the one found in the park.

upload_2019-2-12_7-40-58.png

We walked inside Cove Cafe to see what was inside.

upload_2019-2-12_7-42-22.png

The doors to get inside Cove Cafe were not automatic.

upload_2019-2-12_7-42-48.png

It was a beautiful day outside.

upload_2019-2-12_7-43-11.png

We saw some birds flying around, which means there was land somewhere nearby.

The stage by the kids pool where Star Wars skits were held.

upload_2019-2-12_7-44-15.png

My first time entering Cabanas on the cruise and it was closed.

upload_2019-2-12_7-44-44.png

There wasn't much Star Wars decor happening in there. I think there might have been one sign. We were walking through to get to the stairs to go up to Palo.

upload_2019-2-12_7-45-47.png

The painting by the stairs is really cute. I believe that's supposed to be Remy and Emile his brother. We got up to Palo and I once again forgot about dress codes and DH was in shorts. So he had to go back to the room to change into pants before being allowed to eat.

Up Next Palo Brunch...

I am not really a fan of the MDR breakfast service, it really is just "Meh".
I wish they would try and make it a little more than what is served in Cabanas.
We usually do Cabanas every morning, except on Palo brunch days.
I know on some cruises they offer a brunch type menu on a certain day, not sure when or how often they do this as I have never seen it on one of our cruises, but I could have just missed it in The Navigator.

We had brunch in an MDR on our cruise last week. It was early enough in the morning that I wanted breakfast food but they had some really tasty sounding lunch options and a mint Oreo sundae!

I had some of this coffee on the Wonder. I was falling asleep mid-afternoon and asked for the strongest coffee drink they had. The barista had a thick Eastern European accent and I thought he was calling it a Code Blue. Turns out, when I asked for it again the next morning with different staff, it was just cold brew. They thought that was pretty funny.

It's Zam Wesell. I think it's a CM because it seems like I see her in every SWDAS trip report.
