We are planning a west coast trip, and we plan to visit Joshua, Mojave and Death Valley.

I'm trying to found a hotel-motel near Mojave desert so the morning after we will be going to Death valley.

I doesn't find nothing, any reference ?

Thanks

I looked at staying at the Best Western in Mojave for a night after we visit Red Rock Canyon State Park but I finally decided on staying in Lancaster, CA instead for a bigger choice of restaurants. California City also had some additional choices of hotels that look decent.

Where will you be traveling from the day you plan to stay the night? Death Valley is definitely out there so there isn't a whole lot of lodging options nearby.

Not sure exactly what's meant by Mojave Desert, so I picked the Mojave National Preserve to get an idea of what towns are around there. The just Baker, which claims to have the world's tallest thermometer. They have one motel in town and no website. Apparently they do things the old fashioned way by calling in for reservations.

Primm (formerly State Line) Nevada probably has more options. Maybe Barstow or Shoshone?

That area is a stop of ours when driving to/from Vegas for gas. I jokingly threaten my family that we will stay in that motel sometime. We'd all rather sleep in the car on the side of the road.

It's true that there aren't any other places to stay close to there. Mojave desert is a huge area. There are several places that pop up for death valley if you search for lodging there. If you get closer to Joshua tree, there are lots of places to stay.

My husband and I were heading home from DV pretty late one evening and we were a really tired. He suggested that motel in Baker and I said....no thanks I'd rather just go straight home.

I suspected that it was kind of a roach motel by its reviews. However, it's basically the only place around there for miles. I've stayed overnight in Barstow, and they at least have minimally acceptable chain motels, as well as better quality inns like Hampton Inn or Holiday Inn Express.

Roadside camping is legal in certain areas of Mojave National Preserve. One could just sleep in a vehicle for no fee, and there's no entrance fee.

Agree with everyone above, please do not stay in Baker! It is really just a fast food/gas stop on the way home from Vegas.

Here's a map of the Mojave Desert. I guess something more specific about location might be helpful to narrow it down.

Las Vegas is technically in the Mojave Desert. I was staying there and did a day trip to Death Valley. Pahrump is a little bit closer and has lots of hotel rooms at small scale casinos. However, staying in Nevada seems a little bit out of the way. There's really nothing there in between Joshua Tree and Death Valley other than that one iffy motel and lots of camping on federal land. I've driven through there and it is absolutely desolate other than roads and the occasional place to stop (like Baker).

Last time we stopped for gas in Baker my wife nodded to the hotel and said "you gotta rethink your life choices if you end up staying in that."

There are a few nicer hotels in Barstow or in Primm NV that might be better. Or camping.
