I missed the SW 60k offer

I currently have the SW Plus CC. Do you think I'll have trouble getting the Premier and Business card in order to try to get the companion pass? I'm going to wait it out until October to see if they'll still be offering this deal.

how many credit card applications have you done in the last 24 months?

I got the email this morning too and strongly considering it, as we plan to take a Disney cruise in 2018. For those of you SW card experts - how long are the points good for? We charge ALL expenses to a CC, but don't currently have any specific large dollar items to charge (like homeowners insurance is one that helps us easily obtain CC introductory offer rewards), so just trying to make sure it's worth changing over all our auto payments to get the rewards.

If I apply for 2 cards now & spend $2000 on each card in the next couple months, that will give me a companion pass for all of 2018, correct? Is there a better way/timing to do this?

So I applied and was approved on the 22nd and card received by the 28th...yeah quick...But just wondering when does my 3 month spending requirement time start and end. I actually sent Chase a SM and was told December 15...That just doesn't sound right to me...Ideas...?

I've seen some data points that the SW card(s) gives you 115 days to meet the minimum spend. If you count 115 days from 8/22, you'll get 12/15. If it's in writing, Chase will almost certainly honor it.

For everyone else who hasn't applied yet: Considering the 60k bonus offer runs until 10/4, it seems like it's possible to wait until October to apply and then have until January 2018 to meet the minimum spend, thus setting you up for CP for all of 2018 and 2019. Just be very careful not to meet or even get close to meeting the minimum spend until January 2018, because I've also seen data points that SW has been awarding the 60k points early, when people are as close as $500 to meeting minimum spend.

Hi! Have you seen something that says the offer runs thru Oct 4th? I can't find any end date on the website. I have been hoping it would go into October sometime. I already told DH he may be applying for both cards sometime in October. I really want that companion pass! :rotfl2:

I could've sworn I saw someone on reddit post a page from the Southwest magazine with the offer expiring 10/4, but other people have posted screenshots of an email from SW with the expiration date as 10/1. To be safe, I'd apply on 10/1/17.

Here are some helpful links to conversations about expiration dates and timing to maximize the offers for CP in 2018-19:

Thanks for this info! I've been holding off but now see I can apply now in order to get the CP for 18-19. I'll just have to be patient about completing the spend. Now to complete my apps in the next week!

Thank you for posting those. Unfortunately, I am a little dense & I just want to talk it thru, if you don't mind. As long as we apply on Oct 1, we will be eligible for the bonus, right? Even if it takes a day or more for approval? And then I need to watch for my closing statement date. I will charge a little bit the first month to check the posting time. And knowing on my statement closing date will help me determine when I should make those final charges so they post after Jan 1. And I need to charge over the 2000 to account for the annual fees. If my close date is too close to the first, I can ask to have it moved back a week or 2? Do I have to call for that or can it be done online?

Do I have that all right? Sorry I have so many questions & Thanks for all the help!

Perhaps s dumb question, but will visa gift cards or something similar count toward my total I have to spend?

@CouponGirl, Chase is quoting the minimum spend requirement date (MSR date) is 1/12/18 as of earlier today; 115 days out.

I have a good friend who applied and was approved 4 days ago for his wife the Plus and Premier. Based on @Friendlyadvice2 saying 1/12/18 is the date to meet the min spend by as of today (9/20), it would seem my friend has the chance to drag out his spending and also get CP for 2018 and 2019. Does that sound correct? I told him to send a SM and ask but he is a total newbie to all this so I am trying to help.

Does that mean it's ok to go ahead now and apply for 2 cards to get the CP for almost 2 years?

Yes. The offer is "allegedly" due to expire on 10/4. If you apply, Secure Message (SM) Chase and specifically ask for the MSR date on your cards (save the message to your computer because they will auto delete in December). If applying today, I'd expect your date to be 1/14/18. Therefore, you'd have from the time your statement closes in December until 1/14 to hit the MSR. There is unfortunately one data point out there (seems to be an anomaly) of Chase posting the bonus points for someone when they were close to the MSR (allegedly about 85%). So, if it were me, I'd spend no more than around $1,500 this year and make your final transactions around the end of December or better yet, the first couple days of January to ensure your bonus points all hit in 2018.
