I wonder how the Studios will handle the Toy Story and Star Wars queues

I agree with you on this. TS is going to be neat, but it’s a totally different animal than SW. I think in terms of crowd control it could be similar to Pandora at its opening but on a much, much grander scale. I’m excited to see how access to the land is implemented. Disney usually does a pretty good job with the logistics of opening new lands and eating the crowds, but this will be a real test.

I am wondering how long and to what extent the SW:GE stays interactive. I know the plans, but I also can see the interactive experiences being too costly to maintain in some form or fashion, either financially or otherwise. I hope that’s not the case though.

I wonder how interactive it will be with overflowing crowds to begin.
I really feel like that area could be a huge bargaining chip if they could logistically do extra magic hours for the two new sections of the park. I'm not talking 1 hour. Let it run until 2 am, if it can handle it.

I could definitely see them keeping the interactive element but it being more limited during regular hours and it is an added carrot to have more of the full experience with one of the extra paid hard ticket events (and, of course, for those staying at the Star Wars Hotel)

This is going to be worse than Harry Potter when that first opened in 2010. We waited 4 hours to get into the land and another 2-3 for the ride. The shops were so overly croweded you couldn't move and was a miserable experience in my opinion.

Where I am such a Star Wars fan I think this is the one time I would pay $150 or so for an after hours event so that I can actually enjoy the land.

The Star Wars hotel won't be much better, that's going to have a wait list of a year plus probably.

Obviously it will depend on the details but if they offered something like they do for AK - with VIP type tour that guarantees you on the Star Wars rides I would really consider it, and then just save the $ by staying off site or reducing by a day or something ... vs staying on site and *hoping* I can get FP at 60 days out, etc.

But an after hours event would be great - with the shops open and easier to interact with things ... though I suspect it might be a lot more than $150

As much as I look forward to experiencing it, I know we will wait at least a year & half after opening to go. We will also be experiencing TSL for the 1st time as well then. Will the Star Wars Resort open at the same time or later than the land?

I don't think anyone knows for certain the time frame for the hotel - everything I have seen said it will definitely be after the Land, but not clear if that means like a few months after the land or several years

SWL is going to be unlike anything in any themepark ever. I don't think WDW really gets it. I can't imagine how its going to go at DL since DL is 50 acres smaller than HS. SWL is going to make things intense. I think they're building TSL to just take pressure off SWL and for people with small kids.

I always say I don't and won't plan a WDW trip very far in advance, but I know for the SW hotel I'm going to have to change that tune. Ugh.

ETA: I've been saying since it announced that staying at the Swolphin is going to have the added perk of being where the line starts for SWL so I can just roll out of bed and into the line.

If FoP hasn't clued them in then I don't know if anything will. Where/how they run the standby line for FoP, because they didn't plan for a standby queue long enough, is crazy.

I think it will be Harry Potter X10, which frightens me. I wanted to go back to DL in June 2019 for my 20th anniversary but not if SWL is open. It will be unbearable.

This! I cannot understand how DL is going to handle the addition of SWL at all. The pathways are so narrow in so many places, and the crowds can be intense in the afternoons even on relatively uncrowded days. I feel like even the bag checks to get into the secure area and turnstiles are going to be a total nightmare. My friend and I do a yearly DL trip in the fall, but have already decided that we will likely need to skip 2019 for our own sanity. We often skip DHS so that won't be as much of an issue for us, plus like you said, it is at least larger.

I'm desperate to see SWL, but I know it's going to be a cluster. Like needing cocktails and an adult poopshow.

Yeah, I'm very glad I'm going to DL this year. I have no idea how DL is going to handle this.

I am going to be very interested in how SWL affects total attendance, if tons of people plan on staying away.

DHS SWL is going to be crazy but I don’t think it’s going to be as crazy as DL SWL when it first opens. DL SWL is opening first so all the hardcore SW fans who can’t wait will visit DL. Also people on the west coast who just want to see SWL will visit DL and everyone who lives on east coast would just visit WDW. Also DHS can probably absorb the crowds better than DL can. Both will be insanely crazy but by DL opening first I think it will help alleviate a small amount of pressure off DHS SWL opening.

I just try to imagine what it would be like if it were only going to be in one park, like only in DL or only in HS for example. Meaning that everyone would be flocking to that one park instead of essentially being able to choose which coast. Also naively hoping that DL opening first dampens at least a small fraction of the crowds from WDW, making it maybe a tiny bit more manageable than if it were to only be opening at WDW.

Haha, didn't see your post before I hit submit @BigRed98 Pretty much my thoughts.

I'll go so far as to say that DL will be closing for capacity for the first month. Easy.

It would not surprise me at all if that happened. I think DHS will be packed.
