It’s Disney, Four Hours of Sleep is Normal! Mother Daughter 2018 F&W TR! (Updated 9/22!)

What I hate is when you say you did something, and that person tell you they did too, but did it WAY better than you. What is the point of that? Can’t we instead talk about how great the experience was rather than you lecture me on how I did everything wrong?

like that SNL skit!

I always wear flip flops to the parks. I had not been on Soarin in several years, but I wondered on my recent Sept trip as I buckled into my Soarin’ seat if I was supposed to take them off. I didn’t. Wonder if that fell off the CM training procedure manual?

Looks like some great snacking and drinking. Love the photopass pics. So cute with Figment. Loving the report.

Oh gosh, i don't know how I missed that you started a trip report!

:welcome:Thanks for following along!

That's awesome that you didn't have to wait in that line! Same goes for all of Disney though, really. We were at AK and there was a long line at one of the windows at Pongu Pongu, but no line at the other--we asked if they were open, and they said they were, so boom, no long line for us! It's hard to fight that queueing instinct though :)

Nice! It is amazing how the queueing instinct kicks in, especially at Disney!

How fun!! Isn't it neat to see them? We saw them in person for the first time at MK and it was really fun.

It was so cool to see! I'm so glad we got the chance, impressive what they can do with a wet broom!

Oooh, jealous! We had troubles with Bell Services at the Boardwalk.

Haha, I was shocked the bag got there so fast! Last year it took something like 5.5 hours to show up!

Dude, even in the early morning it was crazy hot that day! But without the sun beating down I imagine it was a fairly pleasant walk. And hey, you got there in plenty of time! :)

Yeah, it was a ridiculously hot week there, but fortunately without the sun being up, the walk wasn't horrible. I certainly would not want to do it during the day though!

This ravioli was amaaaaazing.

Oh my goodness, wasn't it so good??? Would love to try to make this at home sometime!

Yeah, I wasn't sure what to do with my flip flops. I ended up taking them off just in case, and a handful of other people did as well, but plenty of others left them on. Guess taking them off is no longer required!

Day 2, Part 6: Yup, We’re Still Eating!

One we wrapped up with that food, my mom needed to use the facilities, so we went over to the ones right there by the refreshment port. There was a huge line though, so we ended up backtracking to the ones over by Flavors from Fire (which btw, we noticed made the area around that booth smell like porta-potties…not exactly something you want to smell while eating!)

Since we had backtracked already, I decided to go back to WS up the central spine instead this time so I could finally check out the Hawaii booth and that Spam Hash I had heard such great things about.

I have to say, I do not understand the hype over this dish. It just tasted like salt! Was actually my least favorite food at the entire fest!

Around this time, we headed over to pick up a Hide and Squeak map at that store near the entrance to WS. We decided to just pick up the cup right then too just so we didn’t have to worry about it later in the trip. I had thought I wanted the Remy cup, but seeing them in person, the only one I really liked was the Figment one! So that’s what I ended up with.

Next up we swung by Australia next where my mom got the Lamb Chop and I got the Chardonnay.

The lamb was really good this year, a lot better than last! The chardonnay was ok, nothing special though.

This is where I had a very odd encounter with another guest. We couldn't find a table to eat at, so we sat instead at the bench by the restrooms to eat. I was on the very end of the bench and my mom was next to me. While sitting there, this woman came up and actually sat on my lap! What the...?!?

So I, politely as I can, ask her to please not sit on me, but she just ignores me. So I end up gently pushing her off of me, at this point she turns and glares at me, says something in some foreign language, and FINALLY gets up and walks away. Seriously, what on earth?!?!

Our next stop after the crazy encounter was New Zealand where I picked up the Frozen Wine Cocktail.

This was fantastic and super refreshing on such a hot day!

At that point we had made our way over to my favorite booth, Canada! I got the Filet and as usual it did not disappoint!

The filet and the frozen wine cocktail

We were getting pretty full by then, so started to make our way out of the park, stopping at some of the stores on the way out. I got some cute sleep shorts from Canada, and mom picked up a ton of tea from the UK.

On the way out I decided I could fit a bit more food in, so we hopped over to France where I got the beer braised beef and the La Passion Martini Slush.

Both were amazing, and sufficiently filled me up!

Since we were both done eating for the day, we made our way back to the BC. Of course we had to stop at the PP photographer!

When we got back to the room, mom wanted to rest a bit since it had been such a long day, I don’t blame her! While she rested I ran to get some ice for the room and made her a cup a tea.

Around 8:30 she was starting to feel more energized again, so we decided to go swimming!

We went down to the pool, only to find the gate by Beaches and Cream locked! Odd. It was still early, only around 9:00, and there were people in there swimming, so the pool was certainly open.

We ended up walking over to the entrance by the YC instead, only to find that gate also locked! Ummmm.

At the YC entrance we ran into a few other people who had tried both entrances as well and also found them locked (phew, glad it’s not just me not understanding how to open gates!)

I ran into the YC to let the front desk know that there were a handful of us out there trying to get into the pool and were locked out. They did not help at all, they only told me that perhaps they were understaffed and we should just walk all the way over to Hurricane Hannah’s to get in.

Ugh, not the answer I was hoping for!

We did end up having to walk all the way around to Hurricane Hannah’s to find an unlocked gate! That was a bit annoying, especially since a short while later they re-opened the gate by Beaches and Cream.

Anyways, the pool wasn’t very crowded at all, so we found some chairs to drop our stuff, then hopped in! We love the sand bottom of this pool, it feels so good on your feet after a long day in the parks! We checked out the hot tub for a bit as well, but it was still so hot outside we didn’t last there long!

We got to watch the high fireworks from Illuminations from the pool, which is always such a nice treat! Eventually we were sufficiently waterlogged, so made our way back upstairs to get a good nights sleep!

Also have to add - Step count for this day: 34,026 steps! (14.69 miles!) No wonder our feet hurt!

Next up: Breakfast with a Bunch of Characters!

Omg that’s so weird, crazy, annnnd awkward! And then she glares at you like you were the one that sat on her! :sad2::sad2::sad2:

I'm with you. Heard a lot of ranting, but this dish was not super memorable. I vaguely remember thinking it would have been better with more sauce, but as it was, meh.

The lamb was really good this year, a lot better than last!
Yes! I thought it'd be weird with the potato chips on top, but it was good.

I got the Filet and as usual it did not disappoint!
This was our first time having the filet, and it was *amazing*. So good.

Oh gosh, how annoying! And the CMs not being helpful...that makes it worse. But glad you were able to get a chair once you finally made it in!

O. M. G!!!! I would have freaked out!!!! I think you handled that extremely weird situation in a very calm way.

Since we were both done eating for the day, we made our way back to the BC. Of course we had to stop at the PP photographer!

So unhelpful! Glad you managed to get in the pool and enjoyed your relaxing swim!

Yeah, I was really surprised how much I didn't like it. I was so excited to try it after all the rave reviews, but it was such a let down!

Yes! I thought it'd be weird with the potato chips on top, but it was good.

It was really good this year. I'm not the biggest fan of lamb, but my mom loves it, so we stop here each year for their lamb offering. This year was definitely one of her favorites!

This was our first time having the filet, and it was *amazing*. So good.

YES!!!! This has been my favorite dish for three years in a row now. Love it!

Oh gosh, how annoying! And the CMs not being helpful...that makes it worse. But glad you were able to get a chair once you finally made it in!

The CMs not helping definitely was the worst part. By that time of the day we were exhausted and just wanted to relax in the pool, and to have to wander around trying to find an open entrance was just so annoying. I thought they'd understand this and actually try to be helpful!

This would be fun to do!

It was really fun! We made a point one day to go around Epcot finding every single one, and it was so much fun to be doing something so different while at Epcot!

O. M. G!!!! I would have freaked out!!!! I think you handled that extremely weird situation in a very calm way.

Haha, well at first I was just in shock and had zero idea what was happening. Then my brain started function again and I told her to please get off of me....which didn't work, so then I just had to push her. It was the most awkward/weird thing that has ever happened to me! Still can't get over that she glared at me as if I was the one who did something wrong...:confused3

Great picture!

Aw, thank you!

So unhelpful! Glad you managed to get in the pool and enjoyed your relaxing swim!

Yeah, I was so annoyed at the CMs, but it was nice to eventually get into the pool and have a nice relaxing evening!

I am absolutely baffled by the story of the woman sitting on you!! Like where is that even remotely ok to do?? How WEIRD!

How annoying about the pool! But sounds like a nice way to end the night!

Wow you have been the lucky recipient of some very strange/odd behavior.

It was the strangest thing by far that has happened to me at Disney (or probably anywhere). I don't know if she maybe thought there was a bit of room at the end of the bench for her, or if she didn't see me....or maybe she was just nuts. Who knows, just so awkward!

How annoying about the pool! But sounds like a nice way to end the night!

Yeah, it was super annoying, although I was just happy it wasn't me not understanding how the gates worked! It was such a nice way to end the night, once we got in of course. Love being able to see the fireworks from the pool!

Day 3, Part 1: Breakfast with a Bunch of Characters!

This morning we got to sleep in…a bit. We woke up around 6:30 to get ready for the day and were out the door by 7:30. We walked the very short walk to Epcot (loved how close our room was!) where we had a short wait. Eventually a CM came out to scan our bands to make sure we had PPO dining reservations, then we were ushered through security and into the park, it was a few minutes before 8:00.

We quickly made our way through WS up to Future World and over to the Land for our breakfast at Garden Grill!

There was a CM at the entrance to the Land who also scanned our Magic Band, then directed us over to the podium in front of the restaurant. We checked in there as well and were informed that we were the first guests to be seated that morning! Fun!

We were led back to our table, we got one of the booths on the lower level, and settled in for breakfast. Moments after we sat down though, a CM stopped by and told us since we were the first guests of the day, we get a special treat…a visit from all the characters at once!

It was such an awesome surprise and a great way to start breakfast! Unfortunately, we were a bit surprised by all of this and weren’t ready with the camera so didn’t think to turn the flash on, so the pictures are a bit blurry. Still a great memory though!

Soon after, breakfast started to arrive. Out first was a sticky bun which was HUGE and really good!

We also ordered some coffee and I got a mimosa. Next came the platter with a ridiculous amount of food. There were eggs, sausage, bacon, Mickey waffles, and tater tots. They also had toppings for the waffles, including this chocolate sauce which was soooo delicious! We ended up putting it on everything, not just the waffles!

Our waitress, who was amazing, mentioned that if we wanted more of any of the items they would bring us more. Although it was so much food, we had no chance in finishing it!

The characters continued to stop by throughout the meal, which was fun. Got some cute pictures with them!

It was a fantastic breakfast, we would definitely do this one again!

We wrapped up with breakfast around 8:45, our waitress brought us the check a bit early in case we wanted to head down to be first in line for Soarin. We however had other plans. Since had ridden Soarin’ the previous day, and were kind of on a character kick, we were off to the character spot to meet the characters…again!

Not surprising, we were the first in line when we got to the Character Spot. It was still early, so the CM made us wait outside in front of the door. At 8:58 she finally let us in and we made our way down the hall where there was another CM blocking the way. We had to wait a bit longer, but finally she told us to go ahead.

We turn the corner into the next hall, and SURPRISE! Mickey was there to great us! Since we were the first ones there, Mickey grabbed my arm and escorted us into the room!

It was so cute and such a fantastic surprise! We had a great meeting with the characters. My mom was wearing a Mickey’s Gym shirt, so Mickey started flexing for her, it was pretty funny!

Now one thing about being there so early was they did not have all the PP Photographers there yet, so Goofy didn’t have a photographer. Fortunately the woman photographing Mickey offered to take a quick shot of us with Goofy too before hoping back over for the next guest!

Minnie of course was sweet as always!

Up Next: Are Those Real Fish?

Wow! I am in awe of your ability to be up and going that early in the morning, multiple days in a row! :)

Ok, I guess it's worth it to get up early! That's awesome! :)

It was a fantastic breakfast, we would definitely do this one again!
I'll have to add it to my list--this looks super yummy.

Your morning of characters looks awesome--such fun interactions!

Frankly I'm in awe as well. To be honest, by the end of the trip we were completely exhausted and realized we did a few too many early mornings! Next year will be (hopefully) much more relaxing!

Ok, I guess it's worth it to get up early! That's awesome! :)

HAHA, yeah, there are some pluses for waking up early...that was a pretty cool experience!

I'll have to add it to my list--this looks super yummy.

Totally recommend, the food was so good and there was SO much! Plus we love the character meals!

Your morning of characters looks awesome--such fun interactions!

It was really great, love interacting with them!
