Has anyone else noticed this happening?

While staying at the Contemporary resort in both February and again in November, we were charged for parking everyday during our stay - and we didn’t have a car!!

Luckily I checked our room charges BEFORE we checked out since those charges disappear from the app after you leave.

In February, it took a while on the phone during our vacation while I called and explained what was happening. They finally removed the charges and said that sometimes they mistakenly think that an Uber is a guest’s car. I told them that we arrived in a yellow cab!!

On our last trip last month, it happened again. This time I knew to check for these parking charges... and I kind of expected it to happen again. And it did!!

We had a club level room during our last trip so it was easier to deal with... I just told the concierge our room number and asked her to remove the parking charges since we didn't have a car. She said she didn’t know why but it happens a lot.

So, be sure to check your room charges DURING your vacation - or ask for a hard copy of your room charges so you can check the details when you get home.

Yes. Over half the time. I always check. They refund with no questions. I check the app when we arrive. It will say right there

Happened to us last December. Only difference was we had two rooms, but only one car. We were charged for parking on both rooms. And the woman at the front desk actually refused to remove the charges at first. It took quite a lot of arguing to get her to remove the parking charge for the other room. I'm fully expecting an issue on our upcoming trip and we won't even have a car.

I'm curious..........since this has not ever happened to us (2 visits a year since 2013). Have you been signed up for DME?

In the end it doesn't matter........this shouldn't ever happen. 🧐

Because we don't usually have a car on property........how do they know you have one? There's a possibility we'll be doing a "resort" only couple of days in August and will have a rental car for just 2 nights..........then no car for the next 6 nights.

The time we were charged it was on the second leg of a split stay. So we took DME to the first resort and were not charged for parking, but we were charged at the second resort where we did not arrive on DME. We were setup to take DME from that resort back to the airport, though, and Disney moved our luggage for us between resorts.

Yes we’ve been hit with parking when using ME

i asked how they know who has a car and was told it’s all on the guard at the gate. They are responsible for logging it. I think that’s where the issues come from. Get one number wrong and the car goes on the wrong room. Some who have cars never get charged too

When we were charged for parking last month, we arrived in an Uber but the guard at the gate didn’t know who we were...

The Uber driver just showed his ID and said ‘Uber’ and the guard let him in. I’m guessing Ubers coming and going is pretty routine now that so many people Uber to/from the contemporary for the MK.

When we got out of the Uber, we didn’t talk to anyone downstairs either. We had checked in online and went straight to our room since we already had our room number texted to us and our magic bands.

I love Disney so much - I just wish they didn’t add these charges on for no reason.

Which resorts did you stay at?

We didn’t take the DME - once was a yellow cab and the other time was an Uber.

That stinks!! Hopefully no issues on your next trip. If so, maybe emailing is the best way to go. It would save time and they can fix their mistake while you’re out having fun.

I get this is a joke but even if you get charged incorrectly no need to wait in line. Just send an email
Emailing does sound like the easiest way to deal with this.
Do you know who we should email when we’re charged for parking but we don’t have a car?

We've stayed at a bunch...WL, BLT, PoP, AoA….etc. I do check the bill before we leave.......to be honest never thought to look for a parking charge. I will now. :)

I wonder if people are giving bogus room numbers thinking they will avoid the fee and not caring that someone else may get charged.😨

This. They have to provide a folio. Check it at the end but dont waste your vacation time worrying about it!

I always check the charges online. Last stay at the YC we had arrived the day before and stayed at the Dolphin. We had gone to DHS and then to check into our room. The CM asked is how we had arrived! DH said by boat! You should have seen her face!!! I explained we had come the day before and ubered! No charges but we checked in to cho the credit card because we had new cards. Otherwise I assume we would have been charged. We’re taking DME next trip and I’ll check for sure!
