It's a long way to Paradise...

We took plenty of photos as the sun gradually set and then we had to leave as they were starting to shut the visitors’ area.

We set the GPS to take us to our hotel in Las Vegas (Treasure Island) and off we went!! Wow – Las Vegas is certainly spectacular at night when you are driving towards it. The GPS got us to the hotel nicely and we tried to park near the entrance just so that we could check in – but were redirected to the carpark. So it was quite a hike from the carpark back down to the reception desk for check in and then there was a bit of a line once we got there. Once all sorted and we had received the important information (how to log on to the wifi) we headed up to our room on the 34th floor. So in TI there are different banks of elevators depending on which floor you are on. We found ours (in the few days we were there it was amazing how many people jumped in the elevator with us before realising that it only went floors 31-36) and headed up to our room suitcases in tow. We exited the elevator at the 34th floor and then had to find the room. Ok – our room number fits in this range and the sign points down this hallway. Well our room was at the end of a very long hallway, but when we opened the door – wow nice!!

!! And when we opened the curtains and checked out the view (from a little way back because it was really high) WOW – REALLY NICE!!

A quick stop to drop off our bags and then we were off again to return the car to Alamo at the airport. Back down in the elevator – trek through the casino to the escalators to the carpark and off we went!! The GPS came in useful again as I just had to press Car Rental locations and it brought up the McCarran International airport vehicle return. It was only about a 10 minute trip to the airport and it was a breeze to drop the car off. The guy asked if it was Tony, checked the fuel and walked quickly around the car, printed a receipt and off we went!!! Next stop was to find a taxi to take us back to TI. We found one quite quickly and he asked if we wanted to go back the quick way or via the Strip. “The quick way” we said. Well 25 minutes later we were stuck in traffic on the Strip – not happy!! He definitely did not deserve a tip!! After the taxi had dropped us off, Tone decided that we needed to get some drinks so we took a quick walk along the Strip taking in a bit of the scenery and a couple of photos. We found a CVS under our hotel so we bought a couple of drinks (no fridge in this hotel room) and some chips – which ended up being our dinner.

We watched tv for a little bit and then crashed. It had been a big day!!

Thursday 15th April. So what is it that you do when you’re in Las Vegas?? Gamble?? Nope – SHOP!! We headed down to the concierge desk in the morning to find out the best (cheapest) way to get to the Outlets. The girl on the desk recommended the bus system - The Deuce or the SDX and pointed us towards the North Outlets. She also said that we could buy tickets on the bus. Well we found the bus stop in front of the Wynn and hopped on the next SDX bus that came along and it was jam packed. We realized after we had boarded that we should have bought a ticket at the vending machine at the stop before we boarded – oops. The Outlets were the last stop on this route. We found some great bargains and everything was much cheaper than at home. We stopped for lunch in the Food court (Subway) and then continued shopping. Once our hands were sufficiently full with bags and our feet worn out we decided to make our way back to the bus and head back to the hotel. This time we bought a 24hr ticket each before we boarded the bus. It probably took about 40 minutes to get back to the Fashion show Mall which was the stop that we needed to get off and once we were back in the room we sorted through all our purchases, removed tags and loaded up our suitcases.

Since we had the 24hr bus tickets we decided to head to the Fremont Street Experience for the evening. So a quick change and freshen up and back to the bus. This time we caught the Deuce which has more stops but ends up at Fremont Street. The “Experience” was great fun and a bit of an eye opener with some of the sights but we had a really good time, took HEAPS of photos and saw some great bands. 601215_04_2016001.jpg

The street has a huge video screen that covers it and is 4 blocks long and every hour they have a mini concert where they play 3 or 4 songs from one artist. We saw Bon Jovi and Imagine Dragons up there and others that I can’t remember.

There were also people zip-lining up there - 2 different lengths and levels. it looked cool!!
It was late when we left, somehow we had skipped dinner altogether and we arrived back at our hotel at about 2am.

One thing we did work out earlier in the day was which hotel room ours was:600915_04_2016001.jpg
So we were on the LHS 2 corner windows that you can see - just underneath the white border going around. No wonder we had such a great view!!

Friday 15th April
So on Friday after a great sleep in (being at the end of the hallway meant no noise from people going past our room) we made our way down to the bus stop in front of the Fashion Show Mall (via Starbucks) and caught the SDX to the South outlets for more shopping. We looked through a couple of shops to start with and then decided to have lunch in the food court. Chinese was the meal of choice and it was pretty good and great value too. After we were sufficiently fed and watered we started shopping properly. I found lots of Roxy stuff in the Quicksilver shop and was soon laden down with bags. We had a successful shopping day all up but I definitely had the most purchases. Once we had had enough and had found the correct bus stop to board the SDX and had been taken to the terminal for a change of bus – (luckily the lady next to us on the bus knew what was going on) we made our way to the bus stop at the Wynn. Tone had started to feel like he was coming down with the flu or something so we stopped at the CVS to get some Cold & flu tablets and some drinks for the room. We went back to the room to drop our bags back and freshen up for dinner. While we were there we booked tickets for the MJ Live show at the Stratosphere for Saturday night. Dinner was at Gilley’s in our hotel. It was pretty busy so we had a bit of a wait. I had the Southern Fried chicken and Tone had the ½ BBQ chicken. Both meals were huge and pretty yummy. After dinner we went for a walk up the Strip.

It was really busy, being a Friday night and there were definitely some crazy people around. We made our way up to the Bellagio and stopped to watch the next fountain show. We were actually disappointed with the show – it was some classical number and it just seemed really short. Not anything like our last trip to Vegas in 2006.

We moved on from there and eventually crossed the road at the overpass. We checked out a couple of shops in behind PH and Tone bought a beer to drink along the way. I took a few photos as we walked and we worked our way back towards our hotel.

I can’t remember what time it was but Tone wasn’t feeling very well so we stopped at CVS and grabbed some more drinks and then headed back to the room to relax.

Saturday 16/04/16
Saturday was another sleep in day. The beds were so comfortable and the room so dark and there was hardly any noise from the Strip or the hotel to disturb us. We took some photos of our fabulous view and then we decided to have a bit of a relaxing day and went for a walk north along the Strip. 609916_04_2016.JPG

Tone wanted to check out the golf course behind the Wynn so we took a walk through there and took some photos inside the hotel.

We couldn’t actually get a look at the golf course but checked out the pro shop and decided that it was way too exclusive for us.
We walked south along the Strip for a while and stopped for a cocktail at Margaritaville in the bar that overlooked the Strip. It was pretty hot out.

Tone had decided that he wouldn’t mind going back to the outlets to get another pair of shorts that he had seen on our first day so we caught the SDX to the North outlets. We spent a few hours there and got what we wanted and headed back to the hotel to get ready for the MJ show.

Love Vegas, always something to see. You had a great room too! Wow!
I see it's nearly been a year since your trip - another on the horizon any time soon?

Thanks for reading along. Vegas is such fun, definitely always something to see! The room was great and it was a pretty good rate too. I know - it's taking ages to do the trip report too. We have leave booked for September but haven't decided on where we will go yet!!

Great report and trip! We're also mixing Disney with Universal (one day) and LA. How did you find "The Best of LA tour?" . It it "get your guide" company? We'll be spending a few days in LA before Disney but have been looking at different tours trying to see what works well for us. Wax museum looks fun too, which we'll probably go to (have been to the NY one).

Your Disney photos get me even more excited for our trip. Thanks for sharing.

Thanks for reading along and commenting! The "Best of LA" tour was really good. It was only a small group of maybe 10 and the driver was really informative. It was run by Lux Bus. The wax museum was fun and better than I had expected. I have been reading along with your PTR - so also looking forward to hearing about your trip!!
