Four adults - me, DH, DSIL, DBIL (2 of us at AKL - Kidani, then 4 in BCV)

AKL - Kidani (1 BR, Savannah view):
Pros:
Check-in was easy-peasy: greeted by energetic, friendly CM before approaching the front desk and she was able to check us in, help with a gift card issue, and offer us suggestions on which room had a great view (and it was ready!).
Room was spacious, clean, quiet, and beautifully decorated.
Master bath shower was awesome - big jet tub, too!
Additional full bathroom was a bonus.
View from room: zebras, giraffes, wildebeasts, and other animals that I should know but don't.
Cultural reps from Asia, Africa were friendly, knowledgeable, talented, entertaining.
Easy parking, short walk to elevators.
Bus service to parks was timely.

Cons:
Bathroom lighting was very dim.
Long walk to pool from our room.
Long walk to Jambo House (shuttle is offered)
Poor customer service at The Mara (CMs didn't speak to us at all, not even a 'hi' or 'thank you').
Very limited market place food offerings at Kidani.

BCV - 2 BR lock-off - DVC
Pros:
Easy, efficient check-in; room was ready by 4 PM
Room was clean, quiet; new décor is subtly beachy.
Location, location, location - loved walking to Epcot & Studios; loved the quiet of IG at Epcot (which won't last, sadly); loved the Friendship boat option.
BC Marketplace had decent food options (not as many choices as before, but okay for our needs)
Lock-off set-up worked really well for us as the other couple had privacy, their own kitchenette and, LOL, more comfortable furniture.

Cons:
It took 3 phone calls, 1 front desk visit to get a few things repaired in the room.
Sofa and chair were very uncomfortable in 1 BR - hard to sit for long periods of time (or maybe we're just old).
1 BR bathroom - so many doors!; no shelf in shower for shaving legs, no jet tub (hated the 'soaking' tub as it has no ledge and is hard to get in and out of); no towel bar or hook outside shower (I bought a stick-on hook at Target for our stay).

We loved both resorts, but prefer the BCV (our home resort) due to the location and convenience. AKL is simply beautiful and would suit us well if we didn't want to do much park-hopping and could request at room closer to the pool area.

We stayed 3/1-3/11 at the same resorts - 2 nights at AKL jambo and 8 nights at BCV. Our first time to both. While we really liked AKL, we LOVED BCV and it felt like “Home”. We are looking to book again for next March but will spend the whole time at BC.
