I always forget this board is here!

We just booked Allure of the Seas for 7 nights in October 2020. She'll be sailing the Western
Mediterranean still. We will be sailing out of Barcelona, stopping in Palma de Mallorca, Marseilles, La Spezia, Civitavecchia and Naples.

It will be our first time on an Oasis class ship and the first time in Europe for the kids. We last sailed on Ovation in the South Pacific last April.

Hello :)
Can I ask what you thought of ovation and the South Pacific cruise please.
The allure looks lovely now so going to be gorgeous then.
I love Central Park area on oasis class

We enjoyed the South Pacific cruise! It was 8 nights and only had 2 port stops though. Originally there were 3 port stops and 4 sea days but it changed very early on to 5 sea days with 2 ports. For our family it was too few port stops and too many sea days on that length of cruise. There were A LOT of kids on that particular sailing. The lines looked pretty long for most of the activities but my kids pretty much just hang out by the pool (and in the case of my teen son, finding more food to eat!). The did do the rip cord and thought it was fun but they all like it better on land.
Our ports were Mystery Island and Noumea. We loved Noumea, we did a private city tour and then just walked around, ate food from the street vendors and stopped at a grocery store to find some interesting snacks to bring home. My older daughter ate a whole baguette that was longer than her arm. Mystery Island was fine. The beach was nice, a bit crowded. The island is tiny and uninhabited, so it felt very touristy. We lived on an island all at the time that had beautiful beaches that were frequently empty so we weren't as excited about that port stop.
Ovation itself was beautiful and the crew was great. We were not impressed with the cupcake class, but the older kids did the sushi class and Dh did a few of the cocktail classes and they were good. We didn't love the main shows but loved the piano bar and the comedy show. My mother in law was with us and she actually won in the casino. We did MTD and liked it. We liked the smaller main dining venues, food was nothing special but decent enough. Chops was the only specialty that we did and it was good.
All in all it was a good cruise and we would sail Ovation or Quantum class again. I would consider a South Pacific again, if there were more ports. We sailed out of Sydney and we loved Sydney and Australia in general (we spent a week in Cairns and 1 day in Sydney pre cruise and one day in Sydney post cruise) and would love the chance to go back there again.

This sounds like one of the the first sailings after the makeover. Lots of ports - hopefully you will get some time to explore the ship.

Yes, she'll come out of dry dock about 5 month prior to our sailing. We will only have the one full sea day. but we will also have boarding day and one day in port that we will be back on the ship by 3 at the latest so I think it will be enough time for us. We were all pretty restless after the second sea day on our last cruise. Our normal vacation style is pretty active with early mornings and late nights so it should work well.
