Looking for a Hotel in San Diego

We are still deciding between Disneyland and San Diego for a weekend getaway this summer. DH can't take too much time off from work (2 days). We are trying for a 3 or 4 night stay that is not going to break the bank. Right now we have the Candy Cane Inn booked for 3 nights the end of July. The rate is $117 and $127 per night including breakfast. We would like to see San Diego but all the nicer hotels are very expensive. So, we are looking for a hotel in San Diego that is equivalent to the CCI that is under $200 per night (preferably under $150). Any small, clean, Mom and Pop places out there?

Go to tripadvisor.com and do a search for "San Diego hotels." There were a few well-liked Mom & Pop hotels but I don't know their names off-hand.

The hotel we're thinking of staying in is the Residence Inn Mission Valley. But, that's because we have 2 DDs and want separate rooms, a kitchen, and free hot breakfast. They get really great reviews, but are probably at the higher end of your price-range. Here's their website:

We just got back from the Residence Inn Seaworld (on Hotel Circle). It was great. We had two bedrooms and a full kitchen. We took advantage of the kitchen, the large breakfast offerings, the pool, and the close proximity to the zoo and Seaworld. This was a very nice hotel.

I saw a one bedroom suite (with full kitchen) for as low as $159 with AAA discount.

Look up the Sycan Resort and casino,. its near san deigo, almost in SD and we booked 2 nights and its like 90.00 bucks a night and its a 3 and a half star resort. We found it on hotwire or travelocity. Good luck

My wife and i stayed at the Seven Seas Lodge about a year and 1/2 ago. It's on Hotel Circle. Pretty nice place, own shuttle to Sea World & the zoo. They have an onsite restraunt, lounge. There's a convinence store a few buildings down.According to GetAwayToday the price is around $300 for 2 nights, which includes 2 tickets to Sea World. :thumbsup2
