We will be travelling with my sister & her dh in October. They are vegetarians, but do eat fish.

Any vegetarians out there who can recommend their favorite restaurants? I've looked at some of the menus on all ears. Just hoping for some suggestions.

Thanks!

Vegetarians do not eat fish, they are merely people who do not eat meat.

Most disney restaurants have at least one choice for vegetarians,if you call in advance they are especially accomodating.
Kona cafe at the Polynesian is meant to be good as is Boma at AKL.In the parks there is plenty of pizza and pasta. The Liberty Tree Tavern at MK looks good.
If they eat fish the restaurant in the living seas should suit them at Epcot, the Rose & Crown in the World Showcase has nice options too.
In MGM,Mama Melrose has a good selection and you could try the pizza place at AK or the rain forest cafe.
Any Buffet is good really as they have a couple of choices and plenty of veggies, salads etc.

This site is a great help www.geocities.com/vegetariandisney/
Hope this helps

I don't eat any red meat either, I always find fish or vege dishes in any of the restaurants. Wolfgang Pucks is my favorite...for sushi as well as a lot of other items on their menu that are appealing for everyone.

DD got a nice vegetarian meal at the Garden Grill in Epcot. Roasted veggie with polenta squares, had cheese, too, I think.

They also gave her a beautiful meal at the Poly Luau. Sauted veggies, oriental seasonings, and sticky white rice.

At the SciFi, she had a mozzerella and tomatoe salad, which was plenty because she planned on one of their huge shakes and onion rings.

My friend "Peaches" is a veggie and her favorites include Boma, Biergarten (believe it or not they have a wide assortment of salads and veggies), Crystal Palace, Grand Floridian Cafe, and Whispering Canyon. She has also enjoyed Yacht Club Galley, Jiko, The Mara, Alfredo's, Chefs De France, Rose and Crown, Prime Time Cafe, and most of the other restaurants on property. All table service locations have at least one vegetarian entree (and most of those offerings are vegan-friendly). The chefs are always happy to come out and improvise if their standard offering is not to your liking. Absolutely no advance notice is necessary. Counter Service restaurants can prepare their specialty salads without meat or cheese. Veggie Burgers are available at Cosmic Ray's, Pinocchio Village Haus, and other counter-service locations across property. Columbia Harbor House at MK offers vegetarian chili (also offered at many other counter service locations across property) and a vegetable/hummus sandwich that can be ordered individually or as a half-sandwich and cup of soup combo.
The only time a vegetarian needs to make arrangements in advance is when attending a dinner show (Hoop-Dee-Doo, Spirit of Aloha, or Mickey's Backyard BBQ) as those locations generally have one set menu.
It's really not a big deal at all.

Great thread - I am also a vegetarian who eats seafood (the PC name in pescatarian, although many might not recognize that term)!

Here's some food experiences that I've had:
- We mainly did sit-down PS's, and I was able to find some fish just about anywhere. Many sit-down places serve a salmon fillet for dinner (or another type of fish), so I ate a ton of salmon all week (Yachtsman Steakhouse, Flying Fish, House of Blues, etc).
- Doing counter service was not so easy (and this is because I am also health-minded about my choices). At AK, I broke down and had some pizza from Pizzafari, although I believe there are some other choices there. MK was tough. I have read that the Columbia Harbor House has a hummus wrap and a tuna fish wrap. I'lll be trying that next trip!!
- Restaurant Marakesh has a GREAT vegetairan couscous that I would totally recommed. At Cali Grill I ordered salmon, and they served it with bacon mixed in with the sides, and I was very disappoint.
- Visit http://allearsnet.com/menu/menus.htm before you make your PS, and see what there is to eat. Also, let them know either when you make your PS, or tell your waiter (to avoid something like what the CG did with the salmon).
- Finally, I would be careful getting a veggie burger from a place like cosmic rays or something (depending on how strict your friends are). They most likely grill them along with the regular burgers, similar to fast food chain restaurants!

have a great trip!

There is a plaque on the wall in Boma's at the AKL that says it was voted as Florida's best vegetarian restaurant (for 2002 I think). I would say that several of my favorite dishes were the non-meat ones (though I'm normally a huge carnovour).

The last time we were there (late July) I witnessed the server for a vegetarian couple give them special assistance. She had one of the cooks come out from behind the counter and walk the couple down the buffet, pointing out in detail what they could and could not eat. I enjoyed listening over their shoulders, just to hear her rattle off all of the ingredients in all of the dishes. I don't know if this buffet veggie-escort is common practice, but I thought it was a nice touch.

I have 2 good friends who are vegetarians and they travel to WDW at least once a year. Their favorite place to eat is Boma. They say there is always something for them on any menu, but Boma has far and away the most choices. They say the CMs are always very helpful when they ask about the dishes.
