There's rumors that later this month (20 March 2013) the base price of 10 of the 11 DVC resorts will increase to the following amounts.

Bay Lake Tower at Disney's Contemporary Resort remains at $165 per point.
Villas at Disney's Grand Californian Hotel: $165 per point
Aulani, Disney Vacation Club Villas: $145 per point
Disney's Animal Kingdom Villas: $145 per point
Disney's Beach Club Villas: $130 per point
Disney's BoardWalk Villas: $130 per point
Disney's Old Key West Resort: $130 per point
Disney's Saratoga Springs Resort & Spa: $130 per point
Villas at Disney's Wilderness Lodge: $130 per point
Disney's Hilton Head Island Resort: $115 per point
Disney's Vero Beach Resort: $115 per point

Wonder if this will have an immediate effect on the re-sell prices through the Timeshare Store which for many of the resorts are half the cost when compared to buying direct from Disney even after their incentives?

Wow, its got so expensive , makes the $95 per point I paid for AKV back in the day look like a bargain. Very interested to see how quickly the Grand Floridan DVC will be sold and for what price! I can only assume they are selling DVC fairly briskly if the prices are rising.

Just looked at the current DVC base prices and if the increase later this month is correct then for some resorts the increase is very high, with Vero Beach increasing by over 40% from $75 to $115 and Hilton Head from $80 to $115...

Current Base Prices before any incentives.

Animal Kingdom Villas - $140 per point.
Aulani (Hawaii) - $140 per point.
Bay Lake Tower at Disney's Contemporary Villas - $165 per point.
Beach Club Villas - $115 base price.
BoardWalk Villas - $115 base price.
Hilton Head Island - $80 base price.
Old Key West - $100 base price.
Saratoga Springs - $110 base price.
Vero Beach - $75 base price.
Villas at Disney's Grand Californian Hotel - $130 base price.
Villas at Wilderness Lodge - $102 base price.

Gives DVC more room for incentives and gives the sales people a pivot point to change the discussion from should you buy to how much to buy before the price increase.

New rates were introduced yesterday and the base prices for both new members and current members adding-on are:-

Bay Lake Tower, Grand Californian: $165 per point
Animal Kingdom Villas, Aulani: $145 per point
Beach Club Villas, BoardWalk Villas, Old Key West, Saratoga Springs, Wilderness Lodge: $130 per point
Hilton Head, Vero Beach $115 per point

DVC is only actively marketing two resorts, AKV's and Aulani Villas and the pricing on those two properties are reduced via a combination of a $ per-point discounts and a developer incentive. Examples:-

New Member Purchase

100-159 points: $145 per point less $3 per point incentive plus $1,000 Developer Credit
160-219 points: $145 per point less $10 per point incentive plus $1,000 Developer Credit
220-319 points: $145 per point less $12 per point incentive plus $1,000 Developer Credit
320+ points: $145 per point less $14 per point incentive plus $1,000 Developer Credit

Current Member Add-On

100-159 points: $145 per point less $5 per point incentive plus $1,000 Developer Credit
160-219 points: $145 per point less $12 per point incentive plus $1,000 Developer Credit
220-319 points: $145 per point less $14 per point incentive plus $1,000 Developer Credit
320+ points: $145 per point less $16 per point incentive plus $1,000 Developer Credit

I wonder how long it will be before they release the price per point and room point's chart for the Grand Floridian?

It's all a bit astounding really. GF figures will be very interesting but I won't be biting ;)

Because it's the GF then they might well put a small premium on top of the $165 for BLT point's, maybe starting at $170 with incentives and as long as we can book at least a few nights in the first year or two then we also won't be biting.

But if it proves impossible to book then who knows, we just might be mad enough to buy enough points for a few nights stay every two or three years....

And news of yet another price rise on June 19th 2013, the base prices for points at Aulani and Animal Kingdom will increase by $5 from the current $145 per point to $150, but still no news on the pricing for the Grand Floridian Resort.
