Hi we will be at Aulani for a week stay. Yes, we will eat some meals at Aulani’s resturants during our stay but since we will have a car..why not venture out for some other places to try!! Moderate price places would be the best but open to five star as well!!
If someone could please suggest some places to eat, we are open to all types of foods and also 20-30min drive is not out of the question thanks a bunch!!

Roy’s at the golf course and MonkeyPod are our family favourites. Both are within walking distance which we prefer (they both have great cocktail range so we can enjoy 1-2 with dinner without worrying about driving).

Can't offer too many suggestions but Roys is far better than Monkey Pod. We loved Roys. The restaurants at Aulani were overpriced (even by Hawaii standards) and the buffet to me was not very good, the other restaurant was good but not great

If you’re into seafood, I suggest going to one of the shrimp trucks located throughout Oahu.

Are reservations need at either of these 2 places?

If you will have a car, there are a lot of places to eat. 1. How far are you wanting to travel and 2. What kind of food are you looking for? Like do you want to eat where the locals eat or do you want more upscale, touristy type places?

Yes, we will have a car.
We are willing to travel 30 minutes
Love seafood, Mexican, Italian
Our budget is a little of both..We are looking into local and upscale
But not into sushi

Thanks!!

Nico's Pier 38 is a great place for reasonably priced seafood.
If you're in the Waikiki area, must go to Rainbow Drive In and Leonard's for dessert.
If you like Asian / Vietnamese, The Pig and The Lady was yummy. Reservations highly recommended.

Agree with previous poster, Makahiki wasn't very good. Ama Ama was excellent for dinner but pricey.

Enjoy your trip!

Ebonyeyes, we tend to book but that is because we have 3 kids. Roy’s you can normally walk in and get a table but MonkeyPod can and does have long wait times.

I prefer to have our reservations done so I don’t have to worry about that side of our trip. We love Ama Ama as well - I love their dinners whilst my husband really enjoys their breakfasts.

Monkeypod across the street becomes a moderately priced place to eat when you go within the happy hour window, otherwise it can be pricey depending on what you choose, especially if you are going to have more than a few cocktails.
During happy hour, MOST of the apps are half off and the pizzas are $9 and it runs from 3:30 to 5:00. I strongly suggest making a reservation if you are thinking about the happy hour dining. I think we arrived the last time at 4:45 and were still able to take advantage of the prices with a leisurely meal that ran past 6pm.

The town of Kapolei, about 5 minutes down the highway by car, has a ton of moderately priced food options including fast food.

There are so many choices so just google restaurants Kapolei. These are some that are just in Hawaii...

My family loves Teddy Bigger Burgers

Zippys is fun, kind of a Hawaiian staple that has a Dennys vibe

There are also many many many places to eat in and around Oahu, with tons in Honolulu and Waikiki

Last time we were at Aulani, we did Monkeypods, Roy's, food truck's etc. they were all good, but our favorite, was a five star restaurant, Alan Wong's in downtown Honolulu. its not cheap, but it was worth the $$$$$.
