March Break 2019 how is the drive down if we leave Thursday instead of Saturday?

Our check in is not until Monday at Pop. I thought if we leave Thursday at noon I-75 from Michigan would be less busy. However I have heard that Friday is the busiest day and Saturday is the least. Thoughts?

We will leave either Wed after school or Thurs morning, but we take the 79. It shouldn't take more than 2.5 days to get there, if you take a relaxed drive. We do 2.5 down and 2 back (because we just want our own beds by the end). If you went on Thurs., what will you do with the extra days?
