Masks in Public Resort Areas/Pools

It doesn't matter what beach rules are.

1. Disney is private property and can set their own rules.

2. Disney's mask rule is set in accordance with their agreement with the union to bring cast members back to work. It's not arbitrary. Masks and mask enforcement is a condition of being able to open, because no masks = no CMs.

3. Being resistant to masks if you are on property is disrespectful to the CMs, based on it being one of their conditions to return to work to allow you to be there.

Don't be That Guest. Go somewhere else if you are unwilling to follow the rules put down.
Please do not assume I was wanting to break any rules. Personally, I agree with wearing mask. Really it is a easy way to not spread germs.

Right now, beach rules are all over the place. Some beaches allow chairs, tents, cooler. Some don't allow any chairs or tents or coolers. Some don't allow tents and coolers on the weekend. Some don't allow any lying on the beach anytime. Some allow lying on the beach during limited hours only. By the time VB opens, it will probably be okay to do almost anything on the beach.
Thanks for the reply. I was just curious of the Florida opening phases and you answered my questions the best they can be answered. I have not been keeping up with the beaches in Florida and have no intentions of visiting a crowed public beach during this time. That is why we are going to Vero, even when the resort is booked it has never felt packed. We never did the pool during the morning/afternoon so that area may be where everyone was at in the past as we where walking the beach or riding bicycles.

I haven't seen one post that said "well i just won't wear them no matter what because i don't want to so what". Have you?

I have, elsewhere. I don't know that mods here would play with that.

And it absolutely DOES matter what the beach rules are, on the beach - wherever relevant. For example, at Vero and Hilton Head, the Disney allows you to access a public beach. Disney cannot enforce its rules on that beach. Inside its resort absolutely yes it can. I think people are just talking about things because they are as of yet, vague and unprecedented. Personally I don't know what it will look like in practice.

When I say "beach rules don't matter" what I mean is that saying "I am not required to do this on the beach so I shouldn't have to do it at Disney's pool" is not equivalent or relevant.

So not having seen either of those things said here - you just wanted to make sure we knew that we shouldnt say that....

Actually, I do think it was here I saw people talking about "holding a drink for long periods of time to avoid remasking."

It's been a long week and I am frankly too tired to dig it up. Several nights of neighborhood watch while the city burns really takes it out of you.

According to what we’ve seen, you don’t have to wear a mask if you’re eating or drinking. Nothing against the rules about enjoying a beverage or snack while walking around the resort or parks. OR sitting by the pool, outside, 6 feet from other groups. My family plans to stay well hydrated while visiting in July. We will have our water bottles in hand and therefore masks off while we do this. It is permitted.

The idea is for a guest to take off their mask while they are actively drinking. Disney does want you and your family to stay hydrated in July and through out the year.

Are you saying you and your family will expect to walk around the resorts and the parks without a mask on because you are just holding a water bottle ???

It’s within the rules that Disney has stated but, no, we will not take advantage of that. However, if no one is around me then I may need water quite often.🤷🏻‍♀️

So you will need a personal escort asking you to put your mask up when you are not actively eating and or drinking (my daughter already has to deal with those people at work now and she hates it)
I have a nine year old niece that said she Is going to do the same thing .. only when asked and only for as long as they are actually looking and I told her she is not going with me because this is not a game.
If you don’t want to wear a mask that is fine just change the dates for your trip but please don’t make the cms have to ask you over and over again to put your mask back up

Talked to dvc today and mask have to be worn anytime outside of room even Hilton Head. We had 5 grandkids going with us and just would not be a good situation so I cancelled trip on rented point and lost $3000. What upsets me is you can go anywhere on Hilton Head with out a mask except Disney resort.
yeah. this is getting stupid in my opinion......

Because I plan to remove my mask to eat and drink?? Ok, I will get right on that.

If you plan is to be "drinking" or "Eating" 90% of the time so you don't basically ever have to wear you mask then it is just a wink wink nudge nudge way of saying you are not going to follow the rules and you shouldn't go while masks are required.

I hope disney does what it sounds like universal has been doing so far on this issue.

Appreciate the input but I think we will keep our dates. Really it will only be about 10% of the time when, again, eating eating or drinking. I’ll be in the pool or ocean the rest of the time.

Fun at first especially to go back and forth over something so trivial, really, but we will abide by the rules. May not necessarily like it but we will be glad to be at Disney. Peace everyone.🙃

FYI I just spoke with DVC via online chat - specifically asked about my August trip to Vero and masks and pools - chair spacing and whether or not masks will be required and when.

The answer was "that information has not yet been released but it should be released closer to resort opening date"

Interested to hear more about masks at pool. Looking forward to our July stay at HHI and 1 night end July BCV!

The language used by Disney gives me the impression that masks will be strongly encouraged but not required. The reopening for Disney Springs says required and the DVC resort language said guests will be asked. I guess ill find out for sure on the 15th at HHI.

Apparently you have not seen me with a cocktail.....I would be drinking 90% of the time next to the pool! hahahaha

I am going with the attitude that I am lucky to be able to have a vacation while so many others are working so hard or suffering from sickness. Wearing a mask is the least I can do to show respect for my fellow vacationers and cast members, just in case I am ill and not showing symptoms.
