Good thing you finished up the last TR recently. I think there’s an unspoken rule you can’t go on the next trip until u tie up the loose ends from the last one:duck:

JK love how you always manage to paint a great picture with your text. Not to mention the actual pics taken with such a good eye for something new each trip

The food porn & the two Jacks always hit the spot :thumbsup2

Reservations???!!! What? I can't wait to hear the details. I was so sad finishing your report (Mardi Gras) yesterday and was so thrilled to see this today. Can't wait to hear more. Are you doing the same room at SF? I think it would be hard to stay anywhere else after having that!

I am so glad you enjoyed the Mardi Gras trip report....I was thrilled to get it finished in a timely nature.....I was worried I wouldn't have finished it, and did want to get the new one started...….

Yep, we have actually made two dinner reservations!!! Of course we could change that......lol.....I hope not though...…

One of my best friends is going to be there at the same time, so if we can meet them I`ll change plans in a heartbeat...….still to chat to her actually about their plans...…

Hope you enjoy this one too...….:wave2:

Do tell more when and where? Always love the food pics.

Those olives look divine and olives aren’t my favorite but I would certainly enjoy some of those.

WELCOME along to this one too Minnie17.....

Glad to see you here.....:)

I love good olives, ones in real olive oil and not ones in brine......and those ones are somewhere in between......but they are nice.....and so easy to eat!!!! Last time they were all stoned, on previous visits you ahd to eat around the stone....so this was much easier...…

Food options coming up next!!!! ::yes::

DINING CHOICES

Yep.....food is a big part of our trips to America...….

We have some lovely restaurants back home of course, and we always try to go to local places with locally sourced food as much as possible. We have some lovely seafood places as we live right by the sea.....and most are very good......we have some spectacular little pubs that offer all home cooked food and we are extremely lucky to have several really close by in the next village to us as well as one that is within walking distance...…..so we certainly don't have it bad here...…

There is something about the food in America that is just different......it`s not the portion sizes that impress us so much......many places we actively avoid like that, it`s the whole package I guess between the menu`s, the restaurant itself and of course the service.

Over the years we have found and then dismissed certain places...... we used to go to Chilis, now we wouldn't as we just don't like the quality of the food. There are always better alternatives around.

This year we went to Steak and Shake.....didn't like it at all......wouldn't go back. It doesn't matter it was cheaper than dirt, we didn't enjoy it and I`d rather pay and enjoy something than go to a cheap place....just because. Same with Flippers.....wouldn't go back there again. But, every trip we find one place usually we can dismiss and know we`ll never return.

We were recently given a $100 gift card for Hash House a Go Go from my cousin who isn't planning on going back to America anytime soon ......they like it, we didn't, so I have the gift card to give to one of the staff at the hotel who I know loves it......I know she will love that!!! My cousin is the type of person who thinks everyone who disagrees with her dining opinions is negative and wrong.....lol.....she`s a little defensive but kind, but I think the girl we`ll give this to will enjoy it more than we ever could.

But, when we do find somewhere we love......we enjoy having repeat visits as often as we can......it can get boring I guess if we only posted the same old food pictures......but when food is good, it`s worth doing twice.....at least!!!!

As most who know us by now.....planning is not in our vocabulary very often...….if we plan a meet, or have something specific in mind, we`ll plan that....but usually we are very much wing it and see type of people.

Our itinerary involves waking up and seeing what we feel like...….and if that involves doing not very much, then that's what we`ll do…..we don't feel the need to have a plan for every day, nor do we need to constantly be doing something...….but......we do kind of plan at least places where we might like to eat...…

March trip, we ended up not going to a few of the places we wanted to go to......we never got to Kobe, 4Rivers, Yellow Dog Eats, Toojays nor O`Charleys…...and a few more...….these are our staples for some trips...…so this trip we are going to try and do most if not all of them...….too many

We do like to enjoy some nicer places while we visit, and the past few trips it has been The Palm which is excellent...….but our other favourite place to eat is on Sand Lake Road, known as restaurant row......and it is Ocean Prime...…

We love it here!!! And I think if we only had to choose one or the other between Palm and this, we`d choose Ocean Prime, by a hair though......We first visited a few years ago and fell in love with it there and then.....the staff are wonderful and they remember us every time, of course we know them now and it is always so nice to see them every visit.

So this is one place we have already made a reservation for this May trip...….like The Palm it does get incredibly busy, even the bar can be a hit or a miss whether you get a bar stool or not......so, we do like a reservation in place.

One of my favourite cocktails ever is served here...…..Bubbles and Berries...….not only is it visually beautiful, it is a very refreshing drink without being too heavy......and it photographs well too!!!

The food is of course, steak and seafood...….and boy is it a lovely menu...….we are always tempted to have the shellfish tower, but it is huge.....we wouldn't have room for anything else......but it looks spectacular.....maybe one visit we`ll share it...….

We`ve had several appetisers here over the last few years, and they have all been lovely...….the first below is one of their spicy sushi dishes...…and it was lovely. We did make the mistake of not sharing and Tom had ordered an appetiser of his own...…..we waddled home that night!!!! But it was so good...…..

i-XM2KSkN-XL.jpg

Above is their shrimp cocktail, which as always was gorgeous...….and very filling...…..below is the appetiser that has really captured Tom`s taste buds...….

Surf and turf...….you have three large and plump scallops, some braised short rib on mashed potato with a little sauce...….it is beautiful.....I can see why he orders it again and again.....

They have an amazing wine list here which is one of the many wonderful things about this place.....although we usually end up with the same wine most visits......we know what we like, and I`d hate to spend a fortune on a bottle of wine we didn't like...…..

i-WJrbdx3-XL.jpg

We`ve had both steak and seafood from here and both have been sublime.....

I was blown away with the lobster tails the first time I ordered them, you know when something is so good you really don't know if you want to share how good it is, or if you want to keep it to yourself.....lol.....yep, that was me with them...….

They were the nicest lobsters I had ever eaten...…..

i-g39wNQ3-XL.jpg

And of course the steaks are cooked to perfection...….this was one of the specials Tom ordered one time.....it really was huge and so tasty...….the one below was my filet......you could have eaten it with a spoon it was so tender...….and every steak we have ever had from here is exactly the same.

i-rVmmFwT-XL.jpg

Everywhere we go we love crème brulee…...and this one was as good as any I`ve ever had......we always have it at some point over here, as it`s one dessert I cannot seem to master at home......so, now I leave it to the professionals...….::yes::

i-qFtmVnk-XL.jpg

The other dinner reservation we have is for Seito Sushi.

This was a new dining experience for us this past trip and like some other places we visit, it was an instant favourite…….

From the moment we walked in till the moment we left, we loved every second...….

Good staff, excellent food and a really nice atmosphere where you didn't feel you were being rushed out.....that`s quite important to us if we are out for dinner, as we don't like to just rush through our meal.....and this place had it all...….

i-qkPxFDx-XL.jpg

Most of you will know I have always raved about Orchids Sushi, well, I still think it is a fabulous place to go.....but this just seemed to take it up a notch, and it was a little more unique and very memorable......with a bigger restaurant of course you can have a larger menu available.....and there were some fresh ideas on there that I hadn't seen before.

i-NDXpPv9-XL.jpg

i-qZgcd4h-XL.jpg

i-wNKPSzn-XL.jpg

And of course the classic brulee…..this time with a ginger twist...….not Tom`s favourite, but I loved it!!!!

i-Hbkq36w-XL.jpg

So, that`s our two dining reservations for our May trip.....so far...…..we do need to have a look at some other places and some may require a reservation...….

But, we have plenty of places we are considering that don't...……

More food choices coming up...……:wave2:

Following along! :wave2:

WELCOME to you too Raeven…….

Always lovely to see you here!!!

Hope you enjoy this one too.....I am so looking forward to reading yours after you get home too......glad you`re here though...…..:wave2:

Sometimes I think the food is the most important part of our trip! My daughter in particular is all about the food and snacks we eat, more so than the rides. We have been to Hash House A Go Go twice and liked it very much. I don't think our kids liked it as much as we did, so next time we may need to go without them! It's a wonderful gift you are giving the hotel staff member. I'm sure they will love it

Lol.....yes, it is an important part of any trip!!

I wish we did like hash house......one of our friends does like it a lot, but it’s not for us.......yes, I know the girl who is getting the gift card will love it!!! It would be wasted on us.

Now I’m thinking of snacks......lol........

I'm here and ready to read about your next adventure!!! popcorn::

Glad to you see you're going back to Seito Sushi... We'll be down there in November and it's on my list of places to eat...

Yay.......you made it over here too.......glad to see you!!

Oh you will LOVE Seito Sushi......we were so impressed.......I wish we’d discovered it sooner!

Hope you enjoy this one too........:)

OMG Creme Brûlée is my first choice dessert too. Had an absolutely amazing one on holiday in Mexico at a French themed resort restaurant - drooling now!

Yay. Spending my last few hours of annual leave reading trip reports and gonna follow along here. We'll be almost ready to go when you are coming back so hopefully will have a great time catching up

Our plans are fairly loose this trip, last 2 we've done Disney and are few up with having to be at the parks at specific times, so apart from Space Camp we are Lucy goosey. Though I'm assuming himself will fancy making a skydive or 2 when we are there(so far he claims not, but has just had everything repacked and copies made of all his paperwork )

We love a good creme brûlée too.......

Talking about the best one ever we had......Tom and I both can’t decide between two....it was either in NYC at Ruth’s Chris, or Nick Nairn the celebrity chef made one for us that was spectacular many years ago up in Scotland........

But, honestly, it’s one dessert I cannot make properly........I make amazing meringues that everyone compliments to the ends of the earth.....but creme brûlée is supposed to be easier! I gave up eventually......lol.......
