Measles Vaccination Check in Future?

Honestly, if you're truly worried about measles, make sure you up your Vit C and Vit A as those have been known to help prevent and treat measles. Many of the cases being reported now actually are vaccine strain, so the concern is that the measles cases we are seeing are not "wild". Most people with a healthy immune system can fight measles off well...understanding yes, you might feel miserable for a week.

Ok, I know DCL. We share this common ground. Love it. But I just cannot ignore this.

Stop. Please. STOP. Yes, Vitamin A deficiency is a risk factor for measles, Regardless, even if you are not deficient in Vitamin A, exposure to measles in an unvaccinated individual will result in the development of measles in up to 9/10 people. Vitamin C does not treat or prevent measles; Regarding the "vaccine strain" or attenuated strain --> while yes it is possible to have fever/rash (5%/2%) in recently vaccinated individuals this virus is attenuated and does not cause advanced disease. Additionally, there is no proven host to host transmission. No evidence of human-to-human transmission of the measles vaccine virus has been reported amongst the thousands of clinical samples genotyped during outbreaks or endemic transmission and individual case studies worldwide. **

And let the data be clear measles is a dangerous infection. 1/1000 encephalitis (for sure with IQ drop, often permanent brain damage), 1/1000 deaths in children; Deadly brain disease (Subacute sclerosing panencephalitis (SSPE)) 7-10 years after measles. Rare, but real. 2.6 MILLION deaths per year, mostly in young children prior to the vaccine. Old people, diabetics, cancer patients --- measles? come on. Get real, yeah they're going to do just fine (sarcasm). Realize that due to advances in medical science people with severe underlying diseases are living longer then they were prior to 1950/1960 right? You get that right? FRAGILE people are living longer, yes? You are a prime example. And to have that risked, for what? Really, for what?

I completely understand how you cannot be vaccinated. Vaccines, particularly live vaccines are, in general, not for those whose immune systems are suppressed. But really. Measles was ERADICATED in the United States because of a VACCINE. It is one of the most contagious of human diseases. Quoting vitamin remedies and worse, telling people not to worry b/c "you might feel miserable for a week" is outrageous and example of one of the many factors that brought us to this dark place - where those who cannot be vaccinated are at risk of an infection THAT CAN KILL THEM from a virus that was virtually removed from our population. People who believe that the medical establishment /big Pharma is corrupted grab on to statements like this and make their own interpretation to suit their own beliefs. Science be damned. The internet is a beautiful, informative, fascinating and very dangerous place.

I love pixie dust and I love you. Thank you thank you thank you.

Check out the podcast Science Vs.

They have just re-released their episode on vaccines, and it is pretty interesting. And well-researched NOT by “Big Pharma”.

Spoiler alert: For the large majority of the population, vaccines are safe.
