Mom/Daughter Birthday Celebration: Lots of Firsts and Laughs! (Update 3-18-13)

You got a lot done even with half a day. Haven't seen the Indiana Jones movies! I love them. I've spent a couple hours looking at all the memorabilia in One Man's Dream, I think it's so cool.

Great pics of SSR. What section were you in?

SSR looks lovely. I love yoru view and you can see a peek of a treehouse villa too. how exciting.
You got quite a bit done for only having a short time at DHS.

I can't wait. I am under a month now and it's getting a bit more real!
I still wish you could come down then.

I wish I could, too!!!! :(

Hopefully we'll have another trip in the works soon!! :wizard:

Because of all the busy-ness, I've been away from the Dis again! :sad2:
But I am hoping to get caught up this week & weekend, since Fall Break is coming up, and I'll actually have time to catch up on everything!

It's been crazy, with school as usual, and even a few job interviews (saying a prayer & keeping fingers crossed for a possible hospital job!!)

Until I get my TR caught up, I thought I'd share something with ya'll.......

What could be possibly as addicting as being on the Dis????????

Watching a "Giraffe Cam"!!!!!!

I have been totally addicted to this lately. At our local zoo, we have had a new giraffe baby born! It is the sweetest thing! The zoo has a live camera set up, for the opportunity for everyone to see live shots of the giraffes, in the barn and out in the exhibit area. It's been viewed throughout the country and the world. We made a trip to the zoo after the baby was a couple days old, and got some pics.

Here's the live camera website:

Here's the video of the birth:

OMG!!! That was one long, hard fall for that baby!!! :scared1:

And poor Momma... I bet she was thinking, W.T.F. just happened??? :lmao:

Fingers are crossed for the job!

I'll have to come back for the giraffes, my phone is going too slow.

Ugh, I don't think she's going to call me about the job. I am having such a hard time finding a job that will work with my school hours!! :worried:

Hope you got to check out the giraffe. I am so addicted to watching that live cam!!

I have enjoyed reading your trip report. Excited to hear about the rest of it!

Thank you!! :thumbsup2

Wednesday, June 20

Today would be our last full day, but not a park day, so we slept in a little later, and it was raining some, so we weren't in much of a hurry to do anything. The only thing we had scheduled was the Spirit of Aloha show that night. With it raining off & on all day, would we get to see the show?????

As we were getting ready, I took a few pics outside our door:

Looking inside the room, it wasn't too messy by now because I was trying to get organized and packed a little bit.

We decided to check out the hotel a little more:

We went back to DTD.

By then, it was starting to rain, so where better to run for cover than Ghiradelli??!!

We found a spot to sit, and I tried to get a few pics of it raining:

And a little treat to pass away some rainy time:

We headed back to the room to try and relax while it was raining. Here's a few pics outside the door again, while it was raining.

Coming up: Spirit of Aloha....or rained out??

:wizard:

I'm sorry about the job. That can be so frustrating.

Beautiful view from the room.

Those sundaes look so delicious.

Just a little update on the job situation:

Last week when I went in for the interview at the hospital, the Nurse Manager told me that she would be hiring and making the phone calls the next day. Well, since the didn't call that next day, or the next, I knew she wasn't going to call me. So a week went by..... and finally the HR office called and said they were offering me the job! (Contingent on passing the physical, drug test, etc.)

So, I have been busy dealing with the pre-employment stuff, getting shot records, drug testing, physical, etc...

So I am starting my hospital job Monday!!! :cool1:
Well, it will be 2 weeks of orientation/training, and then the position I was hired for is every other weekend, which works out great because of my school schedule. I won't be attending classes during those 2 weeks, so the instructors have told me that I could do my work at home!

Now, I can relax a little until the beginning of next week, where it will be full of a busy, hectic schedule!

So I am planning to get my TR caught up, and hopefully finished by then!!

princess:

Love the treats.
We did like Spirit of Aloha, but it was at the end of our trip and I was so tired at that point that I had a hard time staying awake at times. Claire was mesmorized though.
I personally didn't care for the food all that much though. Just not my type of stuff.

We left DTD and went back to our room. It was still raining, so we just stayed there and rested a bit and tried to pack some more. I was worried that they would cancel the Spirit of Aloha show, and was just waiting for my cell phone to ring with bad news, but they never called, so before we started to get ready, I figured I would call them and ask. The CM I spoke with said they won't cancel because of rain, unless there is a storm with lightening, because the show area was covered, therefore we would be safe from the rain!

We went ahead and got ready, and headed over to the Polynesian. It was still raining but the lobby was full of guests that were there for the show, so I wasn't really worried at this point.

The CM's came to the lobby, and escorted us to the show area, and by this time, it was still slightly raining.

We were led to our table. Do you see in this pic, the couple on the far right side? We were at the table to the left of them. We had really good seats!

I ordered us a non-alcohoic drink, and it came right after the salad:

Now, our meal came out. There was a ton of food, and it was really good!!

Time for dessert:

I liked the presentation of the dessert with the volcano effect, but thought it was just OK, not all that great tasting.

I liked how they have the band playing while you eat, so you don't miss the show, because you're trying to enjoy the meal!

After the meal, it was show time!!

I was wondering what you thought about the show. I liked the food, but didn't care much for the dessert!
