Mom Says Armed Guards Yanked Her Off Disney Cruise For Being Too Pregnant

Micropremies are being saved at younger and younger ages with medical advances. The youngest survival I'm aware of was 21 weeks and 6 days. I would have been very hesitant to cruise any time after 20 weeks, personally. It could mean the difference between a fighting chance for life and no chance at all.

Drama, plain and simple.
Follow the rules ... which ur required to read and follow before making payment.
She should be thankful she wasn’t on the cruise and needed help, because there wouldn’t have been any... but I’m sure they d sue for that scenario.

I’m thinking that if she didn’t act like she was auditioning for a job as a TV news reporter and spoke reasonably to the Disney reps, they may have tried to work something out for her like a trip to a WDW.

She was already in Florida. She can’t ride everything while pregnant, but at least her family could have enjoyed a vacation.

Every cruise line has the same policy because its a standard industry policy. Its not a Disney thing. Here is Royal Caribbean's explanation of the policy.

Royal Caribbean Cruises Ltd. policy regarding pregnancy is derived from the Cruise Lines International Association endorsement of the American College of Emergency Physicians Health Care Guidelines for Cruise Ship Medical Facilities, which can be found at http://www.acep.org/Content.aspx?id=29980. This includes the guideline that “Pregnant women who have entered the 24th week of estimated fetal gestational age at any time during the cruise should not be eligible to sail with the ship.

As others have said, this is a vlogger looking for her video to go viral. There were no scare tactics. All ports operate on a elevated terror alert and have a heavy police presence with AR-15 style rifles. Their family caused a scene so the police had to get involved. They are not going to let their guard down and hide their weapons because a family is causing trouble.

Plus its Miami so the workers are already going to be in a "I don't care" mood whether they worked for Disney or not.

Part of the online check-in asks if any party is pregnant, and if they are at 24 weeks or would hit 24 weeks during the cruise. If so, they are to be denied boarding. So yes, technically you could lie and say no, much the same way that many lie when signing the health form saying no one in the party has a fever etc.. The major difference is that there is no facilities for any type of pre-natal care on the ship and you are risking the health of the child should anything arise. But yes, you are correct.

If I remember correctly, babies born as early as 19 or 20 weeks have survived with medical intervention, so is there really any difference between 23 and 25? Its not like there is some magic that keeps it from being born at say 23 weeks and you're in the same situation. Both would be extremely premature and require medical care not available on ship. I don't see a week or two making a huge difference risk wise. Then again, I've never been preggo...

They have to put the cutoff somewhere. And they probably can't sell a 19/20 week cutoff.

Bottom line is that anyone traveling away from timely medical support when they're pregnant is assuming some degree of risk. Even those in early weeks of pregnancy can have risk if they aren't 100% certain it's not ectopic.

Someboy in the CL forum posted screen caps of posts by people who were there and here is the shocker - the family was acting rude and obnoxious to the agents in the terminal which prompted the police to be called to tresspass them and the other people at the port cheered and clapped when they got led out.

Who would have believed it went down like that? :-)

I saw this story linked somewhere else and it mentioned that the police were called in when her father got belligerent.
Somehow those details are always left out of a social media vloggers video and account of what happened.
Armed guards did not yank her off Disney cruise for being too pregnant.
Police officers, who are always armed, escorted an unruly group out of the terminal. They had already been denied boarding due to their policy, so they weren't "yanked" off anything. She is looking for publicity and a pay out.

She's off trying to claim they didn't get a refund to illicit more synpathy. Either she simply means they haven't gotten the check yet or think they are getting a refund but not as much as they think they are entitled to so will simply claim "no refund" to play the victim.

She posted the video of the security guy telling her to go outside. I challenge her to post the 5 minutes of the video that happed PRIOR to that moment. Somehow I don't think she will.

Why? She messed up not Disney. If she got pregnant after booking then she should have tried to work something out when she found out. Is there a pregnancy cause in trip insurance?

I would LOVE to see her get banned from DCL and from the Port for this. And DCL, if you can legally NOT refund her fare, please, please do so.

The article I read said she received a refund for the cruise, but she wants Disney to pay for her flight to Florida also since the flight was to catch the cruise. If she was really as nasty and abusive as some have claimed, I hope she gets banned from all Disney properties. We don't need people like that at Disney World either.

That was my understanding but on youtube she is posting "We didn't get a refund" with no details or explanation. I think your explanation is correct but is trying to make people think something else.

24 weeks is the cut off for requiring the cruise lines to keep the medical equipment necessary for keeping the baby alive. Before 24 weeks, they will do everything they can but are not liable since the guidelines say the baby is not viable.

She's an idiot. My brother (a nurse) sent me this article and said he was surprised that cruise lines even let passengers sail at 24 weeks (he said he doesn't think it should be past 22 weeks, which echos what some of you have said above).

Bottom line - it's on the website. Maybe she didn't read it, but she signed the cruise contract at some point, and the language I believe is in there, along with the fact that fares are non-refundable. She should be happy DCL refunded her her full fare.

Also...I don't know exactly what her itinerary was, but the article my brother sent me said it was a "Caribbean" itinerary - isn't Zika still a problem there? If so, IMO, she shouldn't have been on that sailing anyway.

I read some place that Disney is refunding what they paid for the cruise so I was thinking that money could be applied toward a vacation at the parks.

I like one of her responses to a comment on the Don video, where she actually states had she known they had the policy, she would not have answered 25 weeks when asked.......REALLY????
