Anything close by that we can see if we vacation in Vegas? My hubbie would only be able to tolerate the city for a few days then we would need to head to the outdoors!
Red Rock Canyon is a short 20 - 30 minute drivehttp://www.redrockcanyonlv.org/ . You could also head up to the Mt. Charelston lodge or drive to Hoover Dam and Lake Mead.
If you want a little longer trip you could go to Snow Canyon in Utah about 90 -120 minuteshttp://www.utah.com/stateparks/snow_canyon.htm
Or go to my absolute favorite Zion National Park!http://www.nps.gov/Zion/
DH also reminded me that Death Valley or The Grand Canyon could be other possible locations.
Thanks for the ideas! Would these parks be okay to visit in July, or is the heat unbearable? We did Arizona in July one year and find it no hotter than the east coast during the summers.
I would go to Mr. Charleston in July; it will be 20 - 30 degrees cooler up there.
If you drive the Red Rock loop, just stay in your car. Bring water with you, if you plan on stopping for photos; the heat will wear you out in a few minutes.
