Last year my 87 yo DGMIL asked DH and I if we could plan a trip for the entire family. She said she wasn't getting any younger and wanted to have one last family trip. We borrowed all of our points and rented points from another DISer to reserve 2 boardwalk view 2-bedroom villas at BWV. It took an act of congress to find a week when everyone was available. Well, last night DMIL was hospitalized with fluid in her lungs. DGMIL will not go on the trip without her. The doctor says he thinks he can have her better by Saturday but is not making any promises.

2 years ago DGMIL and DMIL were supposed to join us on the DCL. DMIL was hospitalized 4 days before the cruise and they missed that trip as well.

:wizard: sending pixie dust to you and your family :wizard:
i understand after planning & planning, banking, borrowing , renting points for a big family reunoin (just went thru that at christmas time) and not to have everyone to be there is a big disappointment. good luck and have faith in the doctor :wizard:

I wish you much pixie dust. This situation brings up a point about being a member of DVC, that is it is difficult to make reservations with people that are young(meaning in the 20's), the very old, and the sick. Having to make reservations so far in advance can be a problem. With the young it is because they are changing jobs, or getting divorced, or married. With old and the sick it is obvious as in this case. My wife and I have been through similar situations with guests as I am sure others have. Wish you all the luck and good wishes. May I say God Bless.

Oh my gosh...I am sending you lots of Pixie Dust to you and your family. Wishing you a great family trip all together. :wizard:

I hope the doctor is right, and I will say a prayer for your family, that you will be able to enjoy a great time together.

Gosh, Saturday's right around the corner. Here's hoping she is able to go and that you and your family have a wonderful gathering. How great that she wanted to do a family trip at her age. I certainly can relate to your concern. I just booked reservations at BCV next March to celebrate my mom's 90th birthday. She is in excellent health but I'm holding my breath. In addition, my brother and his wife will be there - Lord willing. He was diagnosed with stage 4 melanoma last year but is currently cancer free. We rarely gather the entire family, and I'm very excited about it. But it does cause anxiety.

Pixie Dust and prayers seem to be working. DMIL just spent the last 24 hours in ICU. She called me about a half an hour ago saying they were moving her back to a regular room. Her lung specialist stated he is a very cynical person but he thinks she just might make that flight. :cool1:

Keep the pixie dust coming. Thanks Guys!

The doctors determined today that she can go on the trip but she can not fly. We had to :rolleyes1 twist my 20 yo cousin's arm to tag along on the trip and drive her up on Sunday. Thanks everybody!!
